The Trattoria is the newest in a series of restaurants that has occupied this space. Looks like they finally got it right. The atmosphere is casual but elegant with dark woods and an impressive bar. On our visit we sat at the large marble topped table opposite the bar, that seats 12 people, but is separated such that several couple or a group of 6 or 8 could sit there with other couples seated there as well. The starter artisan bread was very fresh and was served with roasted garlic buds in oil. Delish! I had what was perhaps the best caesar salad that I have ever had. Not overly dressed and perfectly bite sized pieces. I have a big pet peeve about lettuce in a salad. It shouldn't be some feat of man to eat. Anyway, I then moved on to the feature of the evening which was a beautiful steak, topped with shrimp and onions and mushrooms. It was like butter. I have to say it was probably in the top 3 of the best steaks that I've ever had. My dining companions had various other dishes off of the menu, such as the Gorgonzola Steak Pasta, which is a house specialty. I thought that the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. Oh, and don't leave without dessert. The chocolate crepes that I had were to die for. My Mom had the Limoncello Cheesecake... I think the angels sang.....
The food is very bland and does not do Italian food justice. I had the veal stuffed chicken; it was dry and flavorless. My dad had the seafood linguini; he said he's "had better." My mom and boyfriend tried to order the lamb but they were out, and the waitress didnt let us know until 20 minutes after we ordered. I feel bad leaving negative reviews, but this place is horrible. I won't be back.
