The Rivoli, legendary and contemporary, offers great food, drinks and action - dine in the restaurant, drink at the bar, enjoy shows in the club, shoot pool upstairs or watch life go by from the patio

Another Toronto bar with a lot of history, the Rivoli rose to fame in the early '80s. Today it still features live bands, comedy (one of Mike Myers's characters, Dieter, was inspired by a waiter at the Rivoli) and spoken-word events. Upstairs there's pool in the Maple Lounge, open till last call. You can make a reservation downstairs, enjoy some pasta, ... more

Bad service

The food at Rivoli Cafe & Club is decent, but it takes far too long to arrive.

While the Riv is also known for its music performances, the Monday-night ALT.COMedy Lounge and Tuesday-night Sketch! Comedy Lounge are its biggest draws. The Riv features local and visiting stand-ups, and is best known as the place where the Kids in the Hall got their start. Shows take place in the intimate 125-seat back room.

Not quite the mainstay of the local music scene it once was, the Riv's back room now hosts an eclectic mix of performances, including roots, rock, jazz, comedy, and poetry reading. Tori Amos and Norah Jones made their Toronto debuts here, and Toronto comedy legends the Kids in the Hall got their start here, too. Shows begin at 8pm and continue until 2am. Upstairs, there's a comfortable... more

The Riv is better known as a club than a restaurant -- the back room plays host to live music, stand-up comics, and poetry readings. The kitchen serves up jerk chicken, steamed curried mussels, salads, and a classic house burger. It's better than most bar food, for sure. Prices are fair, too.

Neat spot downtown with a wide offering of meals. I tried their Shrimp Pad Thai (asked to have the Chicken substituted for more Shrimp) and it was delicious! Not too saucy and shrimp was cooked well - definitely worth another shot.

I've always loved this restaurant, great food. However, with my recent visit to Rivioli, their services definitely disappointed me. The waitress messed up on my order (charged me less than what was the 'supposed' to be price). It was extremely rude and unprofessional of the waitress to come back to me, while i was in the middle of eating and ask me to pay the 'remaining fee', when it was their... more

I love to come here for the dancing! They have this cute little upstairs spot that was free to enter for dancing. Amazing hip-hop, R n B and some great oldies tunes. What a little gem! When I want to get my dancing shoes on for a price that is very right, I know exactly where to go. The food is really good as well! Its set up so that its a super cute great date place with a good ambiance.

Opened in 1982, this club on the Spadina and Queen West strip is located on the same spot where the original 1920s Rivoli Vaudeville Theater was. A hangout in the 1980s for comedian Mike Myers, The Rivoli has a black, white and neon bar that leads to a room where alternative bands and comedians perform. It has a side bar, a patio, a stage for hosting events and shows, a full-fledged restaurant... more
