Great Fresh Fish

If you like seafood, this is a great place. We tried calamari, squids, shrimps and a salmon. They were all done to perfection. The staff here is very friendly and their service is quite brisk. The place is often crowded, but the atmosphere is pleasant.

A market, a loft, a candlelit cellar, a private dining experience? Yes, yes, yes, and yes. In an 1875 heritage building on a prominent ByWard Market corner is this sprawling fish restaurant: The casual, inexpensive upstairs cafe Coasters stays open through the afternoon and offers pastas, pizzas, and fish and chips, while the basement tavern Vineyards features boutique wines and microbrews and... more

Bland, Cold, Overpriced Food
March 29, 2008

We went out expecting a lot more from an apparently highly recommended restaurant.
Though the service was good, we were very disappointed in the food. Our potatoes were cold, the sauces were bland, and the fish was tough.Ended up paying $100 for a gross meal.

First and last experience. For starters, we were sat at a table where we had bright lights coming down on us. I asked if they could lower them, and a few seconds later, was told no. I then asked to change table - not a problem.

For starters, we had the fried calamari. They were descent. For main course, I had the cajun fish. Portion was big, but it was bland and didn't seem cooked... more

I have been to the Fish Market a few times whenever I go to Ottawa. This time I had a friend from Poland in which it was his first time in Canada. This place did not disapoint me in the least. Especially Stacey who helped us in providing an excellent and enjoyable meal with excellent service.

I am rarely disappointed with restaurant for I am not a difficult person. But I have to say this is the worst restaurant I ever went to. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food. The lobster was overcook, astonishing for a place specialized in seafood, and the steak had no taste. And the bisque de homard tastes like a vegetable potage my mom forced me to eat when I was a kid. The person I went... more

The Fish Market is a Seafood restaurant where most Menuism users came for a romantic date, paid between $25 and $50, and tipped more than 18%.
