Named after the waterfront district in San Francisco, Embarcadero features at least six varieties of northern Atlantic and Pacific fresh oysters on the half shell along with imaginative gourmet fare. For the wine lover, an extensive wine list and a continually changing selection of wines by the glass are available.

Named after the Waterfront district in San Francisco, Embarcadero means "wharf" or "landing place" in Spanish. We feature at least six varieties of northern Atlantic and Pacific fresh oysters on the half shell. We offer a large selection of casual small plates, pastas, beef and lamb to complement the fresh seafood specialty and imaginative gourmet daily features. For the wine lover, an... more

Used to be good .... losing its lustre

Years ago a lot of people liked this "trendy" place. Well, they've been stuck in neutral now for several years, and may even be slipping a bit into reverse. Nothing much to write home about anymore.

Not keeping up

This place used to be pretty good a few years ago, but in my recent visits, it seems like its sliding a bit. The food is now only okay, whereas it used to be be really good, and the ambience has slipped. Oh well, they did have their day.

good food, scary neighbourhood

we were scared to walk in and out of this place, there were a lot of really sketchy people on the street, but surprisingly on the inside it's very good food.

We Shall Return

Very pleased with every aspect of the visit that we just had. We sat in the lounge area which had a great atmosphere, the wine pricing was right on at 42 for a bottle. We had raw oysters which were nice, a pork loin with an outrageously good sauce and dessert with coffee to finish. I would definitely recommend sitting... more

Memorable

I don't do raw oysters (I know, why go to an oyster bar if you don't "do" oysters!) but they certainly did and with much enjoyment. I had no problems choosing items to make a great dinner. The wine selection is great as... more

A great location for a pre-concert/event supper
November 18, 2012

This restaurant is in a converted old house about two blocks from the Stampede grounds, which made it a convenient location to have supper before a concert. We made a reservation to be on the safe side.
Oysters were very fresh and reasonably priced. Our main courses were also very tasty. The food and ambience would be well worth another... more

A stately brick house with lovely architectural details and loads of charm awaits diners at this popular restaurant. Given the name (which means "wharf"), the place specializes in seafood. You'll find a regular selection of oysters from both coasts, scallops, Dungeness crab cakes, and a robust seafood medley that combines salmon, mussels, prawns, scallops, and lobster in a savory sauce. If you... more
