"Meticulously crafted" modern Japanese creations – including "amazing vegetarian options" and sushi – attract a devoted following to this Point Grey labor of love from chef-owner Yami Yamagishi; set in a narrow, "old-school" space enhanced by a "charming" staff and "relaxing" vibe, it's a "worthwhile" stop, especially given the moderate tabs.
This out-of-the-way outpost has a refined, spare, spa-meets-temple vibe, with comfy seating and gracious service. Chef/owner Yami Yamagishi trained under Tojo and it shows in the top-quality sushi and tapas-style dishes, though not in the prices. My go-to restaurant since they first opened in Burnaby. Prices are a bit higher but definitely not Miku pricing either. Authentic, clean and great service, good ambience and the food was delicious.
This is a creative alternative to standard Japanese fare. Pure minimalism: White paper-covered tables, spare black lacquer chairs, and neutral walls.
