Spirit Of The North pop-top camper

I got my camper built in 2002 and when Dan built it I had him install a 10 foot Horizon roll-up awning, just awesome when you need instant shelter and I had him also install four Atwood electric jacks, the best thing ever on ANY camper.

It's been on my second truck now, still use it every year and at the end of May (2014), I'm taking off and living in it until the 2nd of October....5 months of fly-fishing of course in God's Country in Super Natural Beautiful British Columbia, CANADA, my home...eh!

I do have to say that this style of a small camper is not for everyone, as so many people want all the bells and whistles, I just want to get away, but if your an adventurist like I am, I get into 4x4'ing some of the most remote areas for trillion dollar views and unreal fishing.

I built my custom off-road utility trailer which is my rolling "garage" with all my toys in it....so the bottom line is am I happy. The camper has a 3.2 cubic foot Dometic 3-way fridge, 8-gallon hot water tank with a pressurized water system....just turn the tap on, and wash up, luxury ;) plus I have an automatically controlled propane fired furnace, set it & forget it.

One of the best things that I also had Dan do which he had never done was install two 20-lbs propane tanks with an auto-switching regulator (turn both tanks on, fuel is fed from the selected tank, when empty, it automatically switches over to the next tank)...so I never run out of propane especially on a wet, cold rainy fishing night. :)

I have had my pop-top Spirit of the North Camper on a Toyota tacoma (six cylinder) for 5 years now and I love my camper. It is compact yet roomy inside, lightweight, and good on gas. The best part is with this combo of truck and lightweight camper, we can get in to a lot of 4x4 locations that the RVs can't, and we get some great places all to ourselves!
