Funky!

This place is an institution, and because it's now an institution, it's just not as innovative and cool as it used to be. But it is comfortable, like going to your European grandma's. I especially like it for breakfast and lunch.

Great Food and Service

I stopped by Sophie's Cafe on a whim, just passing through on the way to UBC. This was a real treat! The ambience at Sophie's was so inviting, the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly and the food was fabulous. The decor really is out of this world. Looks like a trip back in time. The food came fresh and fast and they have some very interesting items on the menu. This cozy little diner is a must when passing through West 4th.

For a fabulous home-cooked, diner-style breakfast in a laid-back but buzzy atmosphere, come to this Kitsilano landmark. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, get here early, or you may have to wait a half-hour or more to get in. You can also have a good, filling lunch or dinner here. Every available space in Sophie's is crammed with toys and knickknacks from the 1950s and 1960s so, understandably,... more

It seems to me that over the past several years, especially in food-related media, good old fashioned comfort food has achieved a heightened status as a style of cooking. Perhaps its the back-to-basics movement that has taken root in many aspects of our lives amid all the growing interjections of technology, busy work/life schedules, and the sense that the world is becoming too fast too soon... more

Not what it was

Sophie's was a breakfast destination for us for years. Always...seriously, always hit this spot and enjoyed the mid-morning breakfast. Woking on the java, reading the local newspapers, people watching.
The last trip just felt like something was missing. I've no idea, but the experience left us wondering if there had been a change in ownership. Still the eclectic staff and... more

I went for brunch on a rainy Sunday. It was busy but feriendly and energetic. the place is full of nick nacks and personality. Great brunch items - I had a french toast breakfast - it was very good french toast. My friend had a 2 egg breakfast with toast etc and it was huge! It was my first visit... more

I was most recently here for my daughters birthday dinner. Service was excellent, food was delicious and the casual atmosphere and lively decorations make it a fun place to visit. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

A lively and cheerful '50's diner-style cafe offering enormous old-fashioned breakfasts that feature pancakes, waffles, French toast, home fries, omelets, granola and a variety of egg dishes made with fresh local BC eggs. The popular Sunday brunch is not to be missed but be prepared to wait; locals start lining up early.©10Best.com

Sophie's Cosmic Café is a American, Brunch, and Lunch restaurant where most Menuism users came for fun with friends, paid between $10 and $25, and tipped between 15% to 18%.

Every inch of canary yellow wall space in Sophie's Cosmic Cafe is covered with vintage toys, souvenirs, photos and mementos. Arrive early if you plan on enjoying breakfast, it is rumored to be the best in the city, as line-ups usually snake down the street by 9am. A bottle of their own hot sauce goes on everything (even eggs)! The hip, laid-back clientele enjoys lunches that comes at very... more
