Buyer Beware...

Scott Duvall, owner and operator of Soma Health and Fitness, hasn't the first clue how to run a business. Upon receiving a mediocre massage that lasted only 35 minutes instead of the 1 HOUR massage paid for our concerns were ignored. Those concerns could have been remedied had we not been COMPLETELY ignored and basically mocked by the staff (the massage tech left Soma immediately after the massage). 5 calls/messages to Scott over a 2 week period went unanswered. I guess he doesn't give a sh*t. OH WAIT! Forgot to mention that on our 2nd phone call to Soma we found out that Scott the owner is the same person as Scott the massage tech! Now isn’t that a hoot? During our first call to Soma the guy that answered the phone wouldn't even tell us who the owner or manager was! Amazing way to run a business.

Because of Scott's behavior and bad business practices we were forced to handle this situation differently than we wished. So, we contacted all levels of management at the Fairmont Hotel that referred us to Soma to begin with - the health club manager, the concierge manager downstairs, the concierge manager on the gold floor, and the Director of Operations. Two tried to get in contact with Scott as well - it took them 1.5 weeks to get a call back. Scott blew them off with a lame excuse but still never contacted us. We have been told they will direct their staff to no longer refer guests to that establishment (and I might add, we found out later the girl who did refer us to Soma is a friend of Scott's - hmmmmmmm.....). We also contacted our travel agency and credit card company.

Do yourself a favor and go to a different place for a workout or a massage when you're in Ottawa - there are SEVERAL options.
