From OpenTable: The Smoking Dog Bistro is a French inspired neighborhood bistro in the heart of Kitsilano. Our warm and inviting dining room has a lively barO and our heated outdoor patio is one of the best Vancouver has to offer and is a must after a day at the beach. We offer a wide variety of French influenced dishes. The rustic, yet contemporary cuisine is sure to please everyone from... more

Smartly, the Smoking Dog’s owners, Jean Séguin and Judith Andrews, have bolstered the wine list, kept the classics, but freshened the menu. The result: a full house most nights for accessible French cooking, and lively patio action on sunny days. Find the classic mimosa salad ($8), onion soup ($9), and very good steak frites ($15). And what’s this—some of the better pastas in town in a French... more

Visited the dog only a few times. The food is good and I like the menu selections. This is also a place where you might see a celebrity hanging out.

Expensive ($17 for pasta) Poor Lighting - a light above the table, or on the table would've been great. Loud music, hard to hear others at the table. The music was some sort of contemporary instrumental stuff. Small portions - too small to make a guy feel full. Had to eat when I got home. Chicken Pasta contained about 3 small pieces of chicken. Taste of pasta - bland, boring. French fries were... more

I'd reserved weeks in advance but they couldn't locate it so instead of the fireplace room, we were seated by the dish station/ bathrooms. Our server was nice but not very attendant and ambivalent about the quality of our food. The roasted red pepper soup of the day was magnificent, but the vegetable risotto and tuna nicoise were... more

Contemporary and rustic, elegant flavors and a cozy neighborhood setting make the Dog a "must eat." Menu items are inspired by French and Mediterranean methods and ingredients and may include traditional French onion soup alongside insalata caprese with creamy mozzarella or scallops, lamb chops or escargot. Pasta and sandwiches are perfect for lunch, especially streetside if you can nab a table... more

This French bistro is well known as a winner of Vancouver Magazine\'s bronze critic\'s award for best bistro. The cafe is a great place for a light lunch—the leek and onion tart (CAD8.95) is a gteat meal. There are a variety of meat and seafood dishes, such as the grilled lamb chops for CAD25.95. Seafood lovers can enjoy the sauteed prawns with horseradish sauce for CAD22.95. Be sure to check... more
