Very interesting, but not believable

I'm a nerd. Try saying that 20 years ago and see if you didn't end up head first in a toilet bowl. I read reviews all the time. Many an hour has been spent reading Toms Hardware and lately reviews on sites like this. I've been in many computer stores over the years and yes I've been to skunkwares.

I've been to a lot of places that I wonder how they remain in business and Skunkwares is one of them. I can appreciate what is being said here. First, no genuine reviewer writes the way Just did, complete with directions to their new location. I noticed that Just put a review in Yellowpages as well. There he talks about a "customized experience" (sounds like something out of the Advertisers Dictionary of Jargon and Lingo). He also promotes their facebook page and all the "great contests". It reads like an advertisement as well. That just doesn't happen. You might as well add the website link which I've also seen happen in so called "reviews". In that sense I see what My is saying.

I also agree with My's and Geek's reviews. I figured out pretty quickly this guy was just fibbing his way through it. He knows the basics but it was really obvious that's where it ended. I must say his pricing was higher than normal as well. I wouldn't have minded if I felt that I could have got the knowledge and service to go with it but I didn't get that feeling.

He did start out nice and his wife is really nice. He started with the usual lingo like I've seen so many others do. Of course I wanted more detail. This is when he fell apart and started getting skittish and rude and eventually walked away.

I guess it's not important but I can't help it. Just's edit (which means they're coming back to monitor Skunkwares entry and no normal, genuine reviewer does that that I've ever seen) rushing to defend this "husband and wife team". Who does that? Who sits there starting to describe the staff, that had no bearing on anything, in a rebuttal? Who even bothers with rebuttals on a review site, defending their so-called "review"? It's your opinion. Noone has to agree with it. We state it and move on. In that sense I also agree with My. Not that it matters I guess.

The long and the short of this? From my experience this guy at Skunkwares isn't what he pretends to be (nice husband and wife team or not). There are better places to go to buy your parts. I also question, though I've not let him touch my computer, whether he would be any good at fixing them either. You need to know what you're talking about to fix them as well. The jury is out on that one but judging from what Geek said it doesn't sound like it.

Thank you Skunkwares

I'm an avid computer user and have now been to Skunkwares many times since they moved to Anne St. The prices, service and turn around times have been great for me!The staff is always friendly and helpful. A few months ago, they sold me a computer that love. It has suited all my needs and it cost much less than I expected.I have been back many times to purchase products like antivirus, games, cables and canned air and have always found what I needed. I've even stopped by just to say hi!There is not another computer place in Barrie like this one. There's always someone there to help who knows what they're talking about.Thank you Skunkwares for moving to Anne St. I'm so glad I finally found a good computer store!

This second part is at a later date. Someone posted a review which mentioned me.
Thank you Mytwocents for pointing out my copy and paste typo. I always compose web messages in wordpad cause I've lost my messages too many times upon sending and had to start over. You should follow my lead, trust me, you'll save time.

As for your review... are you sure you were at Skunkwares? They're a husband and wife team who seem to really love what they're doing. I've been in their store lots and sometimes see them serve quite a few customers in front of me and I love watching them cause I learn stuff just standing there. Trying getting that kind of service in a big store.

Self reviews are always glowing

That last review is quite obviously a self-review. The wording gives it away (Copying and pasting it twice didn't help the facade either). I also went to this guy and I will never go back. The guy definitely DIDN'T know what he was talking about and was extremely rude and ignorant. He sold me the wrong parts, tried exchanging them for other parts that were quite obviously incompatible, then refused a refund. When I wouldn't accept that, he tried to bill me a restocking fee. He finally gave me a refund and stormed off. Thanks. There definitely won't be a next time. This is one place I learned to avoid the hard way.
