Okay, the food's not bad. But I don't think it lives up to it's billing. There are better places in town. I think this place is proverbially "resting on its laurels" just because historically its been around for so long and was a pioneer in Chinese food in Calgary. The ambience doesn't seem to have changed since the 70's!
The Silver Inn has been around for years and remains to be a place for good Chinese food. Can't go wrong.

We used to frequent the Silver Inn when the original owners, Gideon and Louisa Tsang ran it. One of the best restaurants especially in the 1980s. We have rarely eaten there in the last 5 years, and when we did the food was absolutely not what we previously enjoyed. We kept saying let's give it one more chance so many... more
We have been going here for the last 30 years and have had consistently great food. Our favourite is the sizzling prawn tomato soup. Their dumplings, ginger chicken and Peking fish are good options too.
