One great doctor, one lousy office staff member

The chances of Dr Sherkin not helping are very low. Energetic, concerned, and an expert in his field if you stick with him he'll stick with you and get answers you can use.

His secretary on the other hand is a consistent disappointment. Not returning calls, not sending test results, and most of the time the voice-mailbox is full!. Even if you make the point of following up by driving to the hospital and asking that records be forwarded to another MD...she will say she will do it...then do nothing.
I know respirologists are in short supply and so are very busy, but I just can't imagine a reason that Dr Sherkin would allow such substandard office help to largely negate the good he is trying to do.

Recently there has been a young girl part time I think and she is fine.

An odd mix, two caring competent people and one dud in the same office.
