Set in an array of Victorian rowhouses, Sassafraz has evolved through the decades to become a magical space in the heart of historic Yorkville. Located at the corner of Bellair and Cumberland, the little yellow house has "seen it all" from the early hippie movement of the 60's to the lack of movement that comes from too much Bordeaux. Sassafraz offers an exceptional menu serving... more

Hmmm

Love it for lunch - not my first pic for dinner. The Sangria is to die for and they have wonderful pasta dishes plus the venue is super posh. Food quality isn't my favorite though

Ein.

For the reputation this place has it's really not that great. The Restaurant is gorgeous I'll give it that, and the Sangria is Amazing. But the menu is very limited and portions are super small. If you want to have a drink on the patio and people watch in Yorkville it's great but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner.

"See and be seen" at this "grande dame" of Bloor-Yorkville where "well-heeled" patrons tuck into contemporary Canadian-French fare while "viewing the beautiful people of Toronto" in an "elegantly" decorated dining room; "experienced" servers and a "popular" outdoor patio complete the pricey picture.

Emerged from the ashes after a fire in December 2006, Sassafraz has maintained its corner landmark status at the avenues of Cumberland and Bellair. Equivalent of LA's The Ivy, the rich, famous and wannabes remain to see and be seen, all within air kissing distance. Inside, the setting is more subdued and minimalist. A surefire mark during the film fest stalk hunt in September.

I would say the food was pretty good here but given the interior I would have expected more. I thought the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the live wall was gorgeous, however the food wasn't up to these standards. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but I would definitely say I wasn't 'wowed'. In addition to this, although our server was very nice, I originally got a glass with a... more

Amazing version of cosmopolitan. We stopped in for a cocktail. It was delicious, and the don't cheap out on the quantity and quality. Well done!

We took over Sassafraz for our rehearsal dinner in August. We were 150 out of towners and everything was perfect. Food was excellent, service was outstanding and location was absolutely perfect. We planned this entire evening from 2000 miles away and the restaurant was so accommodating I highly recommend

Sassafraz is the heart of the posh Yorkville area of Toronto, having reopened after a massive fire destroyed most of the building. Chef Geoff Webb offers healther food made with a cleaner cooking style. The space, located in historic row houses, includes a 20-foot indoor vertical garden and a rooftop patio with a seating capacity of 350. Described as the centre of where all the excitement... more

This upscale French-Californian in the posh Yorkville area draws crowds for the usual reasons—great food, service and ambience. But you might get a bonus: the chance to catch a glimpse of celebs like Mick Jagger, Charles Bronson and Sylvester Stallone. Included under the same roof is the European Bistro, with live jazz and the X-Change Lounge and Discotheque. Dishes range from butter poached... more
