Moldy bun, beef slightly off and unconcerned!

My husband works at the Legislative Bldg and had heard from a few different people that this was a good place to go so we were really looking forward to it. What a disappointment! I had the special which was a beef cooked in a broth/gravy over an open bun. When I first tasted it I was sure the meat tasted off but convinced myself it must be just a different flavoring. The bun was definitely dry and crumbly though and tasted awful, when I had my second bite I knew I was right and turned it over to find the bottom was all moldy. We quietly asked a staff member to join us and showed it to her, she was very apologetic and assured us that meal would be comped then went to get the manager. The manager came out and was very different. She seemed put out that I would like a refund and not want to try anything else. Her lack of professionalism and class made me wonder why I tried so hard to be discreet when letting them know we had a problem with our lunch.

If you don't like lines, avoid the lunch hour, for Sam's is the lunchtime soup-and-sandwich spot in Victoria. Sandwiches come in all tastes and sizes (mostly large), but the shrimp and avocado is the one to get. The homemade soups are excellent, as is the chili. And Sam's is right across the street from the harbor, making it unbeatably convenient.

I was in town for the day recently, beautiful and sunny as Victoria is known for. Someone in out group mentioned that Sam's has the best shrimp and avocado sandwich ever. And they were right. They also have an extensive menu of huge deli sandwiches that are made to order right before your eyes.
