The service needed extra personnel. There wasn't enough staff. My room was larger, clean and well maintained. At our convention, the catering staff and the food were both excellent. Our convention included meals on Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday noon, Saturday night and Sunday morning. Each of these meals were excellent, the food was plentiful and there was very little delay in serving the number of guests. Pretty much standard, and due to the discount from Skoosh I could swallow the price. Overall atmosphere at the hotel was relaxed and pleasant with lots of sitting room in the lobby/lounge for meeting with friends. I felt I was down graded. The a/c was poor at best, the carpet was dirty and had numerous burn holes in it, and the furniture appeared to be from the middle ages. The folowing day I requested a new room with better a/c. The non-smoking room was more in line with a four-star hotel, however, the a/c was better but not much better. The hotel staff were very nice. Would I recommend? Noise is noticeable during the construction day, but after 5:00pm was quiet. Staff are excellent. Food in the dining area is excellent and good value. Coffee is terrific...nice and strong. We stayed two nights and our bed's sheets continually came undone so we seemed to end up in the morning on the bare mattress. The TV was bad enough that any sportscaster with diagonal ties turned fuzzy and wavy enough it was hard to watch. There was some kind of creepy stain on the floor beside the bed. And one side of the box spring had several stains on the side of it. I was really disappointed with the room. In all honesty, they should have pulled it out of the rotation. Ambience was nice...rocks/plants/soft cushiony chairs. The slow cooked ribs were REALLY good. My husband had beef tenderloin with a peppercorn sauce that he said was really tasty. The stuffed portabello mushroom appetizer was excellent. Wines are decently priced. It's nice to have a reliable hotel with a good dining room so you don't have to drive/taxi/walk somewhere else. The restaurant is good, the lounge is good, the front desk people are excellent, the location is excellent, and the parking is free. But if you're looking for good value, with it's location close to downtown, the very good cafe, and excellent staff, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal. Combine that with the Silverbirch Loyalty rewards to get a free upgrade (if available) and a free appetizer, and free parking, and you have a good deal. Rooms are clean. The plugs were very dirty looking and had unsafe holes beside the plugs visible to the eye. Rugs were terrible stained or dirty. The underground parking had crumbling cement felt unsafe for me. No my expectations were not met. Value for my money is no.Not worth $100. I was disapointed considering it was suppose to be downtown Regina. I thought it would be nicer. Easy walk to the town hall, farmers market and not too far from that big park that I can't remember the name of.
