This is a nice English style pub, in a fairly big house type of building. Feels like you're at a house party, really, with a band in the living room and tons of people. But you can't always get a seat and they don't always allow standing room, so you might find yourself going in and leaving again right away.
Why must this place be so busy all the time? I don't see what the appeal is. I suppose it's one of only a few English style pubs in town, which is kind of why I wanted to go here the other night.
you can never get into this place, so i don't like it and i never come back.
This traditional English pub has lots of quiet outdoor seating, good ales, and a menu featuring sandwiches, fish and chips, and other light entrees. This is a good place to gather if you find the scene on 17th Avenue a little too precious.
I am new to town and live on 17th Ave and I was looking for a place to have a beer and meet a few people. One of the managers started to chat with me and found out I was new to town and decided to buy me... more

When we got to the bar, there were 3 other tables there, 3 waitresses, two bartenders and three managers on shift. I have worked in the service industry and I have never seen a lunchday meal fail... more
I've made the Rose a regular stopover because they stock gluten-free beer (even though it's a bit overpriced). Good ambience and atmosphere. Never had the food, so can't vouch for that... they should think about getting some gluten-free options.I would recommend ordering at the bar, as I've been here over 10 times and NEVER had a good waitress. One even had the nerve to get up in my face and... more
One of the first attempts at capturing the look, feel and sensibilities of a small village country pub in the U.K., this stop has remained popular for more than 15 years. Located just a few blocks south of downtown in a rambling old building (legend has it as a former funeral home), there are three distinct bar areas with booths and tables. There are also comfy couches, some near fireplaces.... more
