Rideau Hall is an incredibly large 19th century building that is the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. It's a National Historic Site of Canada.The building is a home, but it's primarily used as offices and meeting places for government officials. After a much longer walk than anticipated from the downtown area (tourist maps can be deceiving!), we arrived at the gate of Rideau Hall.
