A brick beehive oven at center stage underlines the status of what management calls its "gourmet pizza," and for once, that isn't hyperbole. These delectable pies have soft, lightly baked crusts with a variety of ingredients that dictate their classification as tomato, white, green, or in-between, in more than 30 combinations. Among the best are the Vesuvio, with tomatoes, bocconcini, marinated... more
Great food and good service. The modern feel to this place adds to the dining experience. We started with the Lumpia Diavolo (spring rolls stuffed with blackened chicken, fetta cheese and red cabbage, served with cambazola cream sauce and papaya habanero salsa). These pouches of goodness were crunchy lite and not oily at all. The chicken was flavorful as well as all the other stuffing... more
Small dimly lit brick interior with a great patio outside. Went there with a few friends earlier in December but had a long waiting line so reserved in advance and went again when I was in Kingston in June. I recommend booking in advance if it is a weekend

Amazing selection of very good pizza. Place can get crowded quickly so do call ahead.
great fresh pizza. lots of varieties to choose from.
Definitely should check out if visiting Kingston.
The Nonna Melo is the fabulous and delicious pizza I've ever eaten, it changed my life. Like, I don't even want to eat any other pizza unless it's that one. No pizza has ever tasted the same since then. I had the pear and brie, and the classic proscuitto and spinach? (I don't remember what the green was LOL) but nothing could compare to the apple butter pizza. They're good, but, not as good?

This place is absolutely amazing! I would highly suggest making a reservation as they will turn down people at the door if the restaurant is full (which seems to be most of the time). Regardless, they have the best pizza I've ever had! I ordered the Nona Mela Pizza which has been recommended by some of the other yelpers, and the pizza did not disappoint at all. I've never had a sweet pizza, so... more
Extremely good pizza in a great environment. Love the courtyard patio. Out of the 6 neapolitan pizza places I've visited this year, this place rates #3 in pizza crust quality. That's pretty good, given the stiff competition. And since #2 and #1 on my list are in Toronto, I certainly wouldn't recommend the extra couple of hours on the 401.
I also loved the staff here. I will definitely visit...

The pizza is not the best in town, but their Lumpia Diavolo is to die for! I sometimes order this app (or two) as a meal. Love the two different dipping sauces that come with this as well.
This place has amazing pizza, wine and ambience. I highly suggest the Nona mela, which has apple butter, roasted garlic, onion, blackened chicken and cheddar. Sounds weird but the combination of sweet and savoury is like nothing you've ever tried! Out of this world! Also the open concept of the huge wood fire oven is great! Also reservations are HIGHLY suggested, especially for groups!
The service I received on Valentine's Day day was exceptional. The menu was very extensive so we were both able to find exactly what we wanted. With a full bar, we were able to enjoy the entire night with new and exciting drinks including hot apple cider and dark rum, a new favourite.
If you come to Wooden Heads, you're coming for the pizza. Do not get anything else. This is truly a high end, gourmet experience, and makes me never want pizza from anywhere else again. The atmosphere is definitely a part of the attraction; I've been here to celebrate birthdays and for networking dinners and it takes the events to a whole new classier level.
Incredible menu, impeccable service and a buzzing metropolitan atmosphere quite distinct for a city of Kingston's size. A high end experience, zero fluff. This is a restaurant of substance and an exquisite attention to detail.
Of course, a usual visit to Wooden Heads usually includes an obligatory order of their amazing wood-fired pizza (my personal favorites are the Arrabiata, Volcano and...

Absolutely amazing! Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Thin crust, tasty and the selections are so hard to decide on.
My only complaint is that everyone else thinks so too so it is hard to get in.... impossible without a reservation.
Happened on this place thanks to yelp and the reviews were right on. Really good pizza. It's too bad I don't live in the area because there are so many amazing, and really unique combos. Tried the meatball/mushroom and the prosciutto/Brie and caramelized onions. Great crispy crust on the bottom and really good sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Good coffee too!
The pizza was great, the Super dynamite sauce an excellent addition to any pizza, I'd reckon.
You have to eat here!!!!!!
The pizza is AMAZING.
We ate while staying in Kingston for a hockey tournament.
Nice atmosphere. The restaurant was packed on Saturday night but not loud.
You are close to other tables around you but that is my dinner choice next time we are in kingston.
Difficult to get a reservation on Friday evening so we sat on the patio early.
Maggio pizza w/chorizo, banana peppers, fresh grilled corn, bonconcini, delicious.
Coconut shrimp tasty, mandarin salad fresh. A perfect casual, people watching, meal. Highly recommended by the locals.
Whenever we are downtown this is definitely one of our stops. Always have coconut shrimp. I've tried a pizza but the other food is always very good.
Awesome food, friendly service and great location. Busy place and needs a reservation but worth it. I work close by and it's always a pleasure going here.
After hearing ++++++ about the place I was quite disappointed. Area is so small inside and out. Service average too poor.
This restaurant offers gourmet, thin-crust pizza and other items such as lumpia diavola. It is simply the best pizza I've tasted anywhere: excellent ingredients that can be tailored to your preferences, prompt service and very congenial surroundings.
The food pretty much is about par to most restaurants within Kingston for their choices offered. The complaint I do have is with the waitresses playing with their hair. I noticed at least 3 girls twisting, playing with their long hair between waiting on tables. I had asked for lemon for my water and after a bit of a wait... more
This is one of my favorite spots in Kingston. Boasting 2 great patios (the back being larger and more private) and a unique, delicious menu, this spot is always a top choice! Great pizza and friendly staff. Management was very attentive and made his presence known, like every good manager should.
i read so many good reviews on this; but i was disappointed , the pizzas were just like anywhere else; if not worse! I would not go there again
Been to this beautiful restaurant on multiple occasions and it never fails to disappoint! Service is prompt and friendly too!
An excellent and varied Italian menu with much more than pizza. The pizza was great but so were all the other menu choices enjoyed by our group of five. Fabulous and prompt service.
Came for a work lunch:
Voodoo shrimp and nonna mela
Atmosphere: cute little spot near the water. A little packed in, careful not to bump people.
Staff: friendly and knowledgable. Good suggestions
Food: voodoo shrimp is delicious. Pizza and apple butter? Oh s@!t...yes it will change your life.
Price: not the avg lunch.
Why go: for a special lunch or a cute night dinner.
Wooden Heads is one of those really well-known restaurants that has become a staple for fine food experiences in Kingston. I was here with three friends the other week ago. All the ingredients were portioned well and blended... more
Those wood ovens create some of the best tasting pizza I have ever eaten. You better get there before noon, because by 12 o'clock the place is full, everyday they are open, and its full for a reason.

The pizza is probably the best I have had in Kingston. The toppings are very fresh and delicious. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is good.
We went there on a rainy evening after reading good review on Trip Advisor.
The place was packed and the atmosphere was very fin and lively.
The pizzas were delicious and fresh and the desert was excellent!
If you happen to visit Kingston, pay Woodenheads a visit!
Nice place to wine and dine downtown. They make great pizzas for sharing in a group as well the tapas are to die for. A good selection of wines are on hand and reasonably priced. We had a great waitress that actually knew what waiting tables is all about.
Ordered one of the Vegetarian Pizza's...it was good. Atmosphere is nice, service was great! I'd return.
The food was very good but the restaurant was extremely busy and it was difficult to book a table. Make sure you make a reservation well in advance because the restaurant is apparently booked weeks ahead. I'm not sure that it was worth the hype.
Woodenheads is well known in the area for its pizza and most people rave about it. I am not a huge fan of pizza....do find it very good there......but feel it is pricey for what you get. As a family outing for pizza it can be quite expensive.
Pizza is absolutely delicious and service is excellent. Other items on menu are also very tasty! However ambiance of restaurant is a little loud and cafeteria-ish!
A staple for years. Never a bad experience. Great food, service, price, atmosphere and location. It's been around for years and usually busy.
The pizza here is awesome. Been to Woodenheads on a couple of occasions and both visits more than met our expectations. The staff were very friendly. Service was prompt and prices were fair. Food is always creatively served, delicious and unique. Have been patronizing this establishment for 30 years and have never been disappointed. Amazing food but make sure you make reservations EARLY if you don't want to eat at 10 pm. Pizza is always fantastic but so is everything! Hard to choose what to get when I go.
Been to this restaurant many times. I tried different pizzas and salads on each occasion and never been disappointed. Drinks are good, service is quick and professional. Patio in the front is also a great place to have lunch in warm summer days. My server Caity was a delight last time I was there.
I visited this restaurant for the pizza but the Lobster Bisque was amazing! The pizza was tasty as well. Friendly and efficient service. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.
We love visiting our daughter who goes to school in Kingston because it gives us a great excuse to go and get our Woodenheads fix! A little pricy but worth it for gourmet pizza. Decent selection of beer and wine. The stone fired oven is right in the middle of the restaurant.
Amazing pizzas with great toppings (generous slices of prosciutto), Ceasar Salad is delicious- dressing is made to perfection with fresh ingredients; Must try the' Milanese in Bocca'- a fantastic chicken dish served with a spicy cream sauce.
Great food; great waitstaff; just wish it weren't so cramped inside. That's my only less than 5 rating for this one!
Wood fired pizza oven turns out delicious pizzas. For those looking for something else there are some good salads, starters, pastas. Great food, awesome atmosphere! Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner celebrating a family birthday. Excellent service!
It was over sold to us by some friends. Pizzas were unexceptional. Ambiance was hot and uncomfortable. Windmills has better pizza.
Simply stated, pizza made your way, oven baked and to die for!! Good variety of items to choose from. If you are not a pizza lover, there is a variety of wonderful dishes to select from.
Service is awesome.
I've never had anything that wasn't delicious at Woodenheads, from their unique and amazing salads to their gourmet pizzas.
many years of regular delicious pizzas, always perfect.
the restaurant is not too large, so table are close to each others, like in parisien restaurant giving a kind of good atmosphere.
service is good and staff in general very nice.
should absolutly reserve before to go, often full.
one of the favorite place in town.
Enjoy
Pizza is always fantastic and the rest of menu equally superb. And they do it consistently visit after visit. Be sure to make reservations - even on a week night.
Massive choice - don't forget to try the dessert pear calzone. Superb quality. Book ahead in Summer. I wish I could go every week!
The food is great here, the only issue really is that it is too crammed at the best of times. They put too many tables in the place, as a result you got little space or privacy for any conversation you might have. Also pretty loud when busy, sadly.
I visited here with a couple of people that knew it well and were very positive. They had large salads that they loved and ordered regularly so I was comfortable that I'd have a decent meal regardless of what I tried. The site of the big brick oven, in full view, had me thinking "pizza" from the moment I walked... more

I've been here for lunches, suppers, and late night pizze. Every time the place has been packed full of customers, all very lively and all seemingly asking for something just a little different. A Kingston jewel. My husband had the Arrabbiata pizza, it had the perfect amount of heat, just that extra oomph that one looks for in a gourmet pizza. The margherita pizza was excellent, surprised myself by eating the whole thing! Staff is friendly and knowledgable. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Impressive wine selection too.
Visiting Ottawa from Vancouver. We didn't have high expectations for dinner. As we wondered around looking for somewhere interesting to dine we had a lot of No's. Lots of options for pizzas, with the additional possibility of just ordering your own. This place has a massive wood oven, which basically is what sets the standard for a good pizza.

My favourite pizza restaurant, preferred to the top pizza restaurants that I tried in Naples (birthplace of pizza) and Rome. The Giovane pizza is my favourite -- simple yet elegant. I don't know how they do it, but they should keep doing what they're doing. The restaurant is almost always full, understandable because you can't get such great pizza anywhere else in Kingston.
Great pizza. Also some very interesting unexpected appetizers for an upscale wood fire pizza joint. I had some yummy cabage spring rolls and coconut shrimp which were also delicious. It's always super busy and hard to get a reservation which is a serious downside to being so successful. Good spot and if they aren't busy they do take-out which is also a good option.
I thought this place was great. Got the 'Nonna Mela' pizza with apple butter, cheddar, blackened chicken and caramelized onions. It was a great flavor combination and paired well with a glass of Italian red (in this case, the Schola Sarmenti).
