When I first moved back into the neighbourhood this was my go to place for it's convenient location, however the servers there are brutal!Connie's Cook House is just as good if not better and ALWAYS friendly no matter how slammed they are. I will happily walk the 3-4 extra blocks for courteous service. The servers at Win's should head over there and take a lesson from Monica at Connie's!
The servers are very friendly and attentive. The food is consistently delicious. Great for a casual meal or takeout.
I usually go to Connie's Cookhouse and it's pretty good. I thought we would try something else just to see. Super fast delivery, but ordered spring rolls and they never came. I called the restaurant and they just argued with me that they were included and wouldn't fix the order. I will never go back here again.
If you want the most disgusting food ever win's is the place for you. I ordered chicken chow mein and won ton soup. I honestly didn't think you could mess up won ton soup. But they sure did. The broth was tastless and the won tons tasted processed, pretty sure they came out of a can. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. As for the chow mein the chicken was almost tranparent. Never seen chicken... more
Ordered for delivery. Was recommended by a friend. Bad choice. Food was full of grease. Beef chow mein was greasy and the meat was full of fat. The spring rolls were pure grease. Part of the order wasn't in the bag. When I called to point this out to them (I did pay for the missing items), they told me they had no orders yet that day? When I told them I was holding the bill from their... more
We really enjoy eating at Win's. We went there when it was located on Arbutus Street, then lost them for a while. We were so delighted to see them located on 4th Avenue. 10/10
- Before i write this review let it be known that i can eat almost anything,i'm not a picky eater at all.We ordered $50 worth of food last night which was New Years Eve.I should of known when i tried the spring roll that was soaked in oil and grease,i mean almost dripping that it was NOT gonna be a good night. We dished out our plates and even though i finished most of the plate i noticed the... more
You got it all wrong.
Arrive late, if you have a large party, and allow a local to order for you. This way, you are assured to get the best in Chinese fare and won't have to wait nary a minute.
Fresh crab arrives when it arrives, so again leave it to a local to ask when this occurs, then make sure you order as many dishes that have crab as possible.
Pacific northwest fare is about as fresh...

I ordered through grubcanada.com (which is soon merging with just-eat.ca). With a coupon I was quoted $34 for 3 dishes, which I paid for online.
Delivery guy comes and tries to get me to pay cash but I insist I've paid online, so he has a long (and obnoxiously loud) argument on his cell phone about payment with someone at the restaurant. Finally he acknowledges that I have indeed paid, and he...

The food is consistent and tasty. When ordering Chow Mein - just be sure to specify the type of noodles you want. I didn't once and got dried noodles with the fixin's on top, which wasn't my cup of tea.Portions are generous and I've really never been disappointed with the quality.
Got their food delivered. It was fantastic. We've tried five other Chinese restaurants, and this is by far the best food of all.
We tried once about 3 yrs ago. The first and the last time. Hopefully this place is under new ownership!
Do NOT eat here, please! Went to order from my usual place, Yan Ming, but it turns out they had closed as the building had to be demolished. I decided to try Win's and ordered the dinner for 2 (Combo B). It was Chicken Chow Mein, Ginger beef szechaun style, and I substituted Spicy chicken and green beans for the beef with broccoli. It also came with Hot and Sour soup and spring rolls, albeit... more
Why are you not here with me, enjoying amazing Chinese food?
I've been coming to Win's long before it was even called Win's. Way back in the day, Win's used to be a little greasyspoon cafe up on 10th Avenue called 'The Varsity Grill'. They moved to 4th Avenue as The Varsity for a few years, then I believe new owners came in and renamed it to Win's, to everyone's benefit.
Their basic...

Im so tired. and when Im tired I'm indecisive. Chinese food, indian, thai, or pizza for delivery for dinner?
Chinese won out.
I ordered on Just-eat.ca (which rules by the way). $25 bucks for dinner for me and my love. That included a big container of wonton soup (with huge pieces of broccoli, strips of pork, tons of wontons and lots of green onions), sweet and sour pork, PAAACKED into the take...

"Good, Fast, Cheap", said the man. "you may only pick two." So if I wanted it "good" and "fast" it wouldn't be "cheap", or if I wanted it "good" and "cheap" it wouldnt be "fast".
Win's seems to fly in the face of this business idealogy as I discovered on my first visit to the unassuming little eatery located on 4th Ave. below street level just west of Burrard. Not only was the food good and...

Can I give this place less than 1 star? Don't judge me, I'm an optimist and can always find good in something. This time it was good putting the food back in the container and throwing it out. I ordered in the sweet & sour pork, ginger beef, spring rolls and steamed rice. I could have wrung out the grease from the inedible, barely anything inside spring rolls. My entrees were so congealed,... more
Went to Win's last night for an impromptu Chinese New Year celebration...sure enough it was empty, but no problem there.
It was only four of us, but we ordered a mountain.....started with hot and sour soup, it was quite tasty with a lot of spice, a perfect start on a cold rainy Vancouver evening. We tried the veg spring roll which were nice, we had a tofu and vegetable dish which was really...

We ordered take out n service was good. However, our sweet n sour pork was basically just sauce, batter, and pork fat. There was no meat whatsoever. We was so gross we end up throwing it away. The other dish was ok though. We had fried fish fillet. Inconsistent quality of food unfortunately.
Really good prices and really good food. The portions were larger than expected and their sweet and sour pork is the best I've had! The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is a decent size. Food arrived fairly fast and the server was nice.
Once I tasted the dish, I felt like I just won a lottery. There I was in the middle of an unfamiliar territory, I had managed to pick out a cheap and delicious dish among many other... more
Possibly the worst tasteless food I've ever had the misfortune to pass my lips. I wouldn't feed a dog with the tripe they serve.
The menu offer authentic Cantonese dishes including rice and noodle dishes. Service is pleasantly attentive. I noticed a waitress checking up on orders for the table next to me because she thought their dishes should have come out - a rather rarity for a budget family Chinese restaurant and I was quite impressed.
I was little disappointed with my beef with scrambled egg on fried rice noodle...

A friend of mine has been going here for years and has only ever ordered one thing.Spicy garlic pan fried green beans. The order is huge, so it's more than enough for him to eat, and yes they're really that good. I'm not sure what item it is, but based on that one dish, I'd say this is the best chinese food in Vancouver. The rest of the vegetarian options on the menu so far have been pretty... more
the prices are good, the servings generous, the service is attentive & friendly, the restaurant clean & welcomingly decorated - the food isn't extrodinary bur well prepared - daily specials like fresh crab & lobster - some of the worst hot & sour soup (my only complaint)
