The Oat has always been a Glebe standby. On my most recent trip, for breakfast, they had a new croissant sandwich that was just delicious and affordable too. My only complaint is that they do not have a lot of seating. Which is too bad, because folks know this is the place to go!
When I lived in Ottawa, this was a regular stop for fresh-baked bread. I also made periodic visits for lunch or for a snack or for some cookies or treats. Enjoyed it more than ever the last time we visited, and very affordable compared to the surrounding restaurants and even fast food.
Went with my family for a breakfast, we were in the mood for some oatmeal or porridge. Stopped in to check if they had some oatmeal for breakfast (The Wild Oat) the person who seemed to be making the food said it was not specifically on the menu but the could make some oatmeal as they did have oats.

Hadn't been here in a while but dropped in to refill my vegan brunch craving and left happy and satisfied.
Great coffee made by JP with their available almond milk perfectly complemented my wild plate. The potatoes are amazing. I have also had their hot table entrees but have to go back for their burger, just having trouble not having...

The Wild Oat boasts an incredible serve-yourself section, killer breakfast, a fantastic bakery, pressed sandwiches, crepes, smoothies and most importantly, phenomenal coffee!
This spot sets a great setting for a down-to-earth date or a groovy lunch with friends. Definitely worth a trip to the Glebe.
The Wild Oat is an old favorite, and now that we don't live in Ottawa anymore we decided to do it for a Thanksgiving weekend breakfast. Surprisingly we had no trouble getting seats on the weekend, which was always an issue in the past. The staff were friendly, although this is still a 'self-service' style place.
I ordered the Apple...

Coffee and good were excellent. Great variety and the baked goods were too good to pass up! The "hamburger" plate was delicious. It was hard to believe there was not meat in there. We went back for breakfast and the omelette was full of veggies. My wife had a crepe which she really enjoyed.
Great coffee, wonderful food and lots of veggie/vegan choices make this a regular stop for me every time I'm in Ottawa.
The staff is funky and efficient with tons of time for each customer and smiles that are genuine.
The food is the attraction and it does not disappoint. Each meal takes a bit if time but the nice presentation...

Fantastic staff, fresh and good fare, good prices, menu interesting, bright sun by the window. My favorite place. Deservedly busy midday and for weekend brunch.
Different! I wish they had organic smoothies though, kinda disappointed at their organic selection but the food was still pretty good and a nice change from the ordinary.
Our waitress was so nice!
I would like to let everyone know that I believe The Wild Oat is the best Café/Restaurant in Ottawa.
The selection of freshly baked breads, pastries, coffee, soups, and full 'freshly made before you meals' are second to none in Ottawa.
Organic, local, gluten-free options, fairly-traded, wow!
What a wonderful Oasis in Ottawa.
I have been coming here for more...

I love popping in to the Wild Oat whenever I'm in the Glebe. It's especially great for students -- very reasonable prices for quality food. I also definitely appreciate the gluten free options. As long as you're open to a more casual, less traditional environment, you'll love this place. I'll always recommend it. (Warning, though, that if you have nut... more
We'd been hearing about Wild Oat's brunch since we arrived in Ottawa, but it wasn't for a few years when we were leaving that we finally made it there. It's a small little cafe, you order at the counter and wait for you food (not table service), but it's just a perfect little spot. The food is fresh and wholesome,... more
Very nutritious foods, delicious, awesome staff. Try the pear and brie crepe, or the lunch buffet. The lattes rock, and very friendly towards children. Everything is local, organic etc
A must go to for healthy, unpretentious, imaginative and delicious food. In-store bakery. Interesting clientele. If in the Glebe don't miss it. Good little patio as well.
Being Gluten-intolerant, I was excited about trying this place...I ordered a grilled brie/apple/greens sandwich - was pretty good - Panini-style grilled... an Americano coffee -- which was excellent!... and a peanut butter bar -- which wasn't so good. (too sugary). The service was efficient and friendly. And the patio on a hot summer day was welcome. Overall, it's worth a... more
I love that I can choose the portion size I want. The tofu curry is great, especially with a slice of freshly baked bread. Mmm.
This is a place we have been meaning to visit for a long time, and I am very glad we decided not to put it off any longer! We came for breakfast a few days ago and it was absolutely delicious! I love that they include sauteed veggies with most of their plates and use lots of fresh ingredients. My... more
Love eating at wild oat in Ottawa. They have salads, amazing breads, desserts, eat in if you have time, or to go
Ottawa's casual brunch spot. Delicious vegetarian sandwiches. There's an awesome takeout counter too. I love the bean and rice samosas and raw desserts.
we've visited this wonderful restaurant for many years now. it's glorious! try the fresh baked muffins, or yummy bakery breads, or berry oat squares or delicious coffee! and you can be on your way for a great day!

I always find something interesting too eat at WO. I always feel good because I know I will get top nutritious food. The venue ordering process is dated but it reminds me of the cafés of the '70.
Wild oat have an excellent offering of brunch and lunch veggie foods. All is delicious, fresh and unique. Bread is from the attached bakery, so it is always fresh and tasty. This is a unique place in Ottawa.
We usually pick this restaurant on Sunday morning for breakfast. It has on one side the bake shop and the other the cafe.
I had the omelette with cheese that had mushrooms spinach zucchini and a double americo coffee. My wife had the simple crepe with maple syrup and the same coffee, both came with whole grain toast.

I've been buying bread at the Wild Oat for over a year now, but as a non-vegetarian, I'm not normally a fan of sandwiches without meat, so I only tried the Wild Oat's sandwiches this week. I found that the Wild Oat does it right. They put together some very tasty and filling sandwiches. The scones are delicious and are... more
Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Winterlude and was pleasantly surprised.
I live in Ottawa and I have to say this place is one of the best.
The food is fresh and healthy and there is a fair bit of variety. My friends and I often go on Sundays for brunch and it is always a fight to get a table. Well worth the wait though.

Perhaps it's a longshot to be so bold, but they may have the best (vegetarian) sandwiches ever. My girlfriend and I just returned from a weekend away in Ottawa and with the warmer temperatures keeping us off the ice at Rideau Canal, we started walking in every which way. Ottawa, we discovered, has many treats for many people. We sifted... more
I love everything here - and I always end up with tasty treats at home!
This is a really good place to go for relatively organic vegetarian food. You'll find yourself picking up baked goods "for later" - and they're worth it. One warning: don't go there at lunch or brunch on weekends - the place is a zoo.
