Horse Shows - free to watch
July 17, 2013

We love watching competitive horse shows, dog shows and Corporate Challenge Bunnock Tournament at these historic show grounds by the North Saskatchewan River. The beautiful horses and athletic riders at the Edmonton Classic, River Valley Horse Show, Tudor Equestrian Summer Series are a credit to Western Canada. There are bleachers and picnic tables around the show grounds, but bring a... more

Whitemud Equine center has a well kept facility. I have not been there often, but I had heard pretty decent things myself about it. However, a girl my age moved to my current boarding facility and I began to question the lesson program there. She told me she had been riding English there for seven years in their lesson program.... more

Lovely establishment
June 03, 2013

I took riding lessons here as a child and have very fond memories of the horses and staff. They allowed me to learn how to take care of a horse on top of learning how to ride. We would clean their hoofs, give them water and food and occasionally help clean the stalls. We also learned how to strap on... more

Rural atmosphere to offset the bustle of the city. The grounds are well kept and facilities are great for horse shows. Horses look happy!

Great boarding and lessons, wish they offered guided trail rides in the Edmonton River Valley
September 19, 2012

They offer english horseback riding lessons for every level of rider, from beginners to advanced riders. They also offer a wonderful therapy riding program called Little Bits for the disabled. Unfortunately they do not offer guided trail rides or horses for hire, and riding the trails in the area is very restrictive, your horse must wear a bum bag, which... more

A fun place to visit

Loved just walking around looking at the horses with the kids. Buildings showing their age, but the horses and site are great

Country time in the heart of the city
January 04, 2012

See this river valley ranch just minutes from the heart of the city. Famous for its riding trails along the river valley and its programs for helping the various disabled groups across the area to enrich their lives.

Pastoral beauty abounds at Edmonton's own historic horse farm preserved in city parkland along the Trans Canada Trail. It features Captain Keillor's 1917 log cabin with a two-storey fireplace, curving stone fencesand stately trees. The Learning Centre provides riding lessons, horsemanship camps, Little Bits Therapeutic Riding, NAIT student training, horse shows, tours, gardening, community... more

Great place to board
December 31, 2007

I think WEC has had some bad press in the past and rightly so, however the current management and staff are really great. My horse has excellent care, turn out, feed ( four times per day) and ample different arena's to ride in. Yes in the winter months its a bit of a challenge as boarderes are limited to certain... more

Could be Better
April 24, 2006

I personally went to Whitemud Equine, and for Equitation riders, or Dressage riders its good. I do not belive that it is suitable for an aspiring hunter/jumper, because the highest you are allowed to jump is only 2 feet, and there are many restrictions. I found that this is more of a lesson barn, and do not reccomend it for... more
