Rip-Off for sure!
This place is nothing short of a rip-off! If you have the stupidity to take ANYTHING here, you deserve what you get. Don't say you weren't warned, just look at the comments, mostly negative and I'm sure the owner gets a notice of this post and clearly is posting positive comments just to raise his rating, the other poster's were right. STAY AWAY, there are other businesses, you don't have to go to this one, they deserve to go under, my experience was the worst I've ever had at a business, they are rude and aggressive also! And yes, I agree, just ask around Carleton Place, anyone who knows, will tell you to stay away!
Great Customer Service
I have been using Valley Small Engine for years and have always had great customer service. The staff has always been patient and knowledgable. Any equipment I have dropped off to be fixed as always been repaired in a timely manner. I even have recently moved further from the area and will continue to use there services. Its makes it easy to support local businesses when they are this well run!
Ridiculous Business Practice
Apparently the owner has submitted positive posts. Anyone who I speak with has had a bad experience with these guys, just ask around Carleton Place, don't take my word for it, nor the other posters, these are people to avoid for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to find them in the 'not recommended' at the Better Business Bureau, check that out too. BE WARNED!
hard to believe and no name:(
I bought chainsaw 2 yrs ago and a snowblower from them last year great service.. as good a price as home depot comparing apples to apples, came full of gas and showed me how to use etc. When I got a piece of firewood so stuck in it I couldn't get out, they got it out NO CHARGE.. and they fixed mine ahead of a guy that had a home depot one... awesome service very professional and knowledgeable.. I won't be buying at box stores... service and local to important to me.. need my saw etc when I have time.. good to know they will do their best to get it out the door... B Grace
Stay Away from Valley Small Engine
They never called me to say that the warranty wouldnt be covered and when I showed up to pick up the snowblower, they charged me over 200.00 for an unnecessary repair. If I didn't pay the bill, they would have kept the snowblower. Very Rude, unprofessional and unapproachable. Never AGAIN!
Do not have your engine serviced here
We brought our boat with inboard motor for winterization at Valley Small Engine with the expectation that this would be completed professionally. We had the boat stored immediately afterwards. Once spring rolled around we picked it up to find the interior stained with thick oil (it was brought to VSE&M clean). The engine had not at all been prepared for the winter. In fact, some key tasks required to ensure the appropriate winterization was not undertaken. When called to the task, VSE&M was not at all helpful but actually quite defensive. Furthermore, the actual fibreglass hull now has a hole...which was not previously present.
We had planned to go boating the day of pick-up but delayed this due to bad weather. Its a good thing we did so...we would have sunk otherwise.
Very bad service. Do not entrust your posessions to VSE&M.
