Perfect for Business trip

I was in/out 1 day......bar/lounge bid enough to eat and mingle. Steakhouse right next door......didn't need to leave hotel once I arrived. had everthing I needed for 1 night business trip

Nice room, Helpful staff, Great Location

Had a really great visit to Thunder Bay. Impressed with the room and location of the hotel. Staff was very quick and helpful, especially when I managed to lock us out of the room (dead bolt and all)!

Nice place, but maybe a bit overpriced

The hotel was easy to get to and even though they were obviously quite busy with conferences and whatever else was going on there our check in was quick and painless. The room was decent, even though it's a bit of an older building. The pool was actually nice and warm, not great if you're swimming laps, but perfect for splashing around with the kids.

Airport location, Airport feel.

Paid $150. Room was from 1974, sole upgrade was a shower/tub surround. Dinner at Timbers was forgettable except for the 1/10th ounce ground beef in the shepherds pie. Lots of mashed potatoes everywhere. Flight crew location.

Nice Hotel close my friends

I went to my home town where I was born 82 years ago. It may be the last time I see the house I was born in! I saw one of my high school teachers(1946 -50) who had just turned 100 years old, and was all there mentally and physically. I brought her a bouquet of red roses to show my respect for her. She was an excellent teacher.

Hotel Requires TLC

Hotel is close to the airport and offers a free shuttle service. But the rooms are dated, dark, and smell like smoke despite they are all non smoking rooms.

The only minor issues during my stay were a few long dark hairs in the bathroom that were not mine, noise from the bar that could be heard through the window, even five flights up, and the fact that all the equipment in the workout space was out of order. Nice hotel, but old!

The location was perfect for us since it is so close to the airport. The only issue we found was that the room seemed it hasn't been used for a long time, so the smell of "old" was very strong, but as the days went by, it seemed to improve.

Comfortable sleep

Room was comfortable; temperature control was good, bed was nice. My daughter slept on a cot and was pleasantly surprised that it was as comfortable as it was. Great location near the airport with a quick shuttle. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Not the easiest hotel to find, as the restaurant sign is also the hotel sign! The Valhalla Inn is a quality hotel in a convenient location. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The Timbers restaurant serves great comfort food. I definitely recommend the Valhalla Inn.

Overnight Stay

We enjoyed our stay at the Valhalla Inn in a non-smoking room. Our meal in The Lounge was delicious, and we liked the ease of purchasing items for a quick breakfast before our flight at the Starbucks kiosk in the lobby. The best thing is the Inn's close proximity to the airport.

Great Room

Loved the hotel, specially the tub. Front desk staff could have been a little friendlier, but that was a small thing, as all the other staff I ran across was super friendly. Room was beautiful and there was plenty of services should you need them.

It was okay, not great

We asked for an updated room but ended up getting an old, outdated room. The decor was brutal. It was very 70's/grandma looking. It was comfortable, but the pictures are very deceiving and I did not think it was worth the money. Maybe the updated side is, but it's a gamble for what you get..

It was our first time there, loved the convenience of being able to park our Harley in front of the patio door. Only one thing we were not fond of, is at the restaurant, it took forever to get our meals, quantity is very small.

Stayed here to catch an early flight out of Thunder Bay. This hotel is close by the airport and has free shuttle. Some rooms are newly renovated and nice.

Comfortable lodgings, spacious. Rooms on the first level have spacious sunken living rooms with a very comfortable work station. Extra space available to accommodate larger group or the single traveler. Friendly staff and efficient check in and check out process. Great one night stop

Stopped in for a night with my dog (pet friendly hotel) while driving cross country. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and the lounge was great. Not sure if I would vacation here, but for a business trip or if you're travelling along the trans Canada highway looking for a decent place to stay, I recommend.

Close to airport

Except for the sound of aircraft taking off and landing, the stay was good. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. The complimentary access to the gym across the street is a big plus.

Dark hotel, nice rooms

The room I checked into had horribly loud noises coming from the outside that persisted for hours. I had to call the front desk three times over almost three hours with no resolution to the noise. I was finally granted a room change and offered the most beautiful suite which I was very happy and comfortable with. Just wish they hadn't waited until 12:30am to make that decision!

We stayed for a friend's wedding for which the reception was also at Valhalla. Our room was nice and clean but overall the hotel was kept to hot for our liking. We had to keep our room window open so we didn't overheat, even tho the outside air temp was minus 10C.

I first stayed here in 1984 and this hotel has consistently offered a high quality hotel experience.
Recent renovations have solidified it's position as the best hotel in YQT.
The hotel staff here are for the most part exceptional.

Front desk was helpful. Running path located nearby. Nice large clean well maintained room. Room faced the airport but didn't notice planes until 7 AM. Great meal in restaurant Runway 25. Nice service by happy employees

The hotel was expensive but the room was large and clean. I thought the bed was too hard for my arthritic shoulder. The meals were huge but not terribly attractive even though they were supposed to be gourmet The breakfast bar was so-so and their omlets were awful.

The hotel is under renovations. Some of the floors are a construction zone with drywall and wet paint signs everywhere. The hotel is charging the same price for these rooms as the newly renovated rooms. I was only supposed to stay two nights, but I lasted just one. The room I had, was very outdated, and smelled of stale smoke.

Both restaurants were excellent and your location is excellent. The free schuttle service to the airport was a consideration as well.

When arriving, the front desk personel could see that I had a severe limp yet they put me in room 358 at the far end of the inn. The wall paper in my room was peeling and had been patched in areas. The drain plug in the tub did not function.

The Valhalla is probably the best hotel in Thunder Bay, Which is a very low bar.The decor is 70s maybe 80s, a classic convention hotel feel. It was great to have a shuttle bus to and from the airport. The room I was in was a good size and overlooked a pleasant courtyard. The room was clean with the exception of the carpet which was either very dirty or very worn, I could not tell which. Great hotel

The Valhalla is one of the best hotels in Thunder Bay. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. We've stayed here several times and also dined in both restaurants. The food is really good and very well presented. The rooms are spotless as is the rest of the hotel. We'll be staying there again for sure.
