The set design-forest-green awnings, butter-coloured walls, oak woodwork-is picturesque. At brunch you'll find hip mommies, old friends, and neighbourhood denizens nibbling modern bistro fare: poached eggs with hollandaise and back bacon ($12), juicy lamb burgers with aged cheddar and red onion jam ($17). At dinner, sides like bistro fries with parmesan and truffle oil ($8) and entrées like... more
The "interesting" Eclectic-French fare is "always reliable" and the service "personal" at this "quaint" West Side bistro with a "friendly" "neighbourhood feel"; "to-die-for" desserts from Sweet Obsession bakery next door are an added bonus.

Clean and quiet ambiance with above average food. Young waitress was prompt in seating me even though I was 15 minutes early for a 10:30am reservation for 5 people, and in offering menus & cold tap water. Once the other members of my party arrived (3 arrived on time) I appreciated that she let us settle in for about 10 minutes before offering to take our orders. Once our orders were placed... more
Trafalgars Bistro is consistently good. When I tire of trying other places which prove to be disappointing, I come here. The food always tips its hat to current trends without going "over the top". There there are my favourites, the moules et frites, the lamb burger and the salad nicoise. I hope they stay on the menu forever.
Everything thing was wonderful albeit a little noisy (chatter). The food choice was fabulous and everyone enjoyed their meal.
The staff were especially accommodating with our friend and her seeing eye dog.
Thank you
I am something of an eggs benny addict but the way Trafalgar cooks this dish is truly exceptional. The eggs are served on a potato latke and the bacon is home-cured. The hollandaise has the perfect degree of tartness and the eggs are poached exactly the way you specify.
Our waitress could not have been more helpful. The service was incredible. The food was amazing. Just a wonderful evening all-round.
We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Trafalgars. Service was professional, warm, & knowledgeable, and we loved the farm-to-table purveyors and seasonal food. Our dishes were presented beautifully, and our server suggested a delicious bottle of BC Pinot Noir to accompany - great choice. We will definitely recommend this place to friends, and will be back soon.
Food was excellent as usual. My friend enjoyed it too. I had two of the daily specials, an appetizer of chickpea fritters with mango salsa and a main meal of pork belly with a sauce of maple Dijon on a piece of bread. Both were well made.
Everything made on the premises; seasonal menus; locally sourced ingredients.
I've only been here twice but the food is always good. Wish they'd do something about those fruit flies.
We have dined at Trafalgar's often but our experience on Saturday night was the best ever. The new menu offered some great options. The squid appy was delicious. The chicken and braised brisket , equally delicious.
The servers are very professional, but approachable. Looking forward to going back soon.
My guests had been to the restaurant before, as had I, however, all three of us were disappointed with the food. Salade Nicoise did not taste fresh or crisp, somewhat on the wilted side, with a very mediocre presentation for the price and the dessert was terrible. A pasty chocolate tart that claimed to have caramel which we couldn't taste. A very expensive lunch for little return. Only the wine... more
There was a large party in the restaurant, which caused us to move outside. They were very loud. The patio was actually quite lovely, but 3 of the 4 of us chose one of the specials. The meal was OK, but not as good as I would have expected (it was the cod on pasta). We have been to Trafalgar's many times, and this was not up to what they would typically serve.
The service was also OK, but also...

This is a lovely neighbourhood spot. It's been here for years and now that my mom has moved into the area I selected Trafalgars. The ambiance is warm and welcoming and comfortable for my mom who is a senior. The vibe may change a bit later on but dining at 6pm with an 83 year old the server was so friendly and patient. We started with the special which was assorted fresh mushrooms on grilled... more
If you haven't found Trafalgar's, you've never had dessert!
Between the two of us we enjoyed the organic greens, the spring-like sweet pea, leek and mint risotto, the good and very filling lamb burger, and a shared banana and chocolate filled crepe. Service was good on Saturday evening in a room which was quiet when we arrived but almost full by the time we left, with noise rising to the "energetic" level.
I found the menu to be somewhat restricted to foods prepared very unconventionally. That being said, the shrimp with avocado mousse was very tasty especially with the frites which the restaurant does very well. The mussels were done in the standard wine broth with leeks which was also very good. Their forte is their desserts which were excellent. My only complaint is that the tables are quite... more
The food at Trafalgar is simply outstanding. Tastes are sublime. Menu very good and presentation superb. It is a comfortable and welcoming decor with good use of oak trim and a layout that leaves many tables with a sense.
Had a very nice dinner for 4 midweek and thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine. Many menu options for 3 or 4 course meals as well as a la carte. Not the cheapest night out, but each dish was quite remarkable. Could be very noisy if busy.
Back again given its clean environment, well suited for conversation and not overcrowded. The prix fixe menu was a great choice given the varied plates. The food was great and generous portion of pate was more than one usually gets at other restaurants and well appreciated by our guests. Service was great and timely.
Really good food; but wooden floors made atmosphere really noisy.
WE had a nice brunch, soup and salad were both good
Their complete dinners were $35 or $45, (appy, main & dessert) but you could order each course individually. In the lower group was a burger & pasta, I recall. In both groups some dishes had surcharges. Dessert choices are many. All four of us had complete dinners. We agreed it was fine, but we likely wouldn't return.
First timer - meals were good but my wife had the pork loin that was not up to snuff (I don't eat meat so can't comment). really loud and space bounces and enhances the sound. Will go back though!
This restaurant had a unique and carefully crafted menu. The food was all local and conscientiously sourced. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the meal, and would recommend it to anyone seeking a refined and delicious experience.
The short ride on transit from our downtown hotel into a lovely residential neighborhood. Stop in Sweet Obsessions bakery next door owned by Trafalgars to live vicariously as a preview to the dessert tray waiting at the end of the meal. Quiet Monday diners and a warm greeting. Perfect Manhattan and Rob Roy to start. Prix for two - Dungeness Crab Crepe n Sweet Breads for apps were delicious -... more
Came here for an impromptu early lunch after a workout. The service is always warm and cheerful. I had the lamb burger -- I love how they service slightly pink -- so juicy and delicious.
This place truly is a neighbourhood gem.
We love this place every time we go. It is great to see that this bistro and its genesis, Sweet Obsessions, are still there and still delivering great service and wonderful food. Great location, ambience, menu, and always an enjoyable experience - both lunch and dinner.
I wish we could find a Sweet Obsessions dessert that was allergy safe (no egg, no nuts), but the sorbet and sponge toffee is a...

Great food and service. High end quality without the price or attitude. Fantastic surprise.
This 4 star rating is partly influenced by past lunches at Trafalgars, but our most recent visit was for dinner. I didn't feel the food was quite up what we had had for lunches in the past. It is a pleasant room, service is good, portions are average to generous, in house preparation and local sourcing of quality ingredients are... more
Great local ingredients, I will be back! I love the small space of the restaurant. We ate the pommels frites with ruffle oil. It was to die for.
If you're tired of the usual chain restaurants on Vancouver's west side and feel like a really nice meal in pleasant, cozy surroundings where you can actually have a conversation without shouting, this is it. Food never disappoints, the wine selection is good, and the service friendly but unobtrusive.
We wanted a lovely meal for two at the end of a stressful week, Somewhere with good food, OK service, some wine and good ambiance. What we found was excellent food from local sources, brilliantly flavoured and balanced, Okanagan wines and excellent service all away from busy Friday night in downtown.
A real gem in an out of the way location. You will pay twice as much for a poorer meal in some of the high end downtown places. Great service, imaginative presentations and healthy, local food. Menu is smallish (but it is a bistro), but great. Wine list is short but reasonably priced with local wines and there is a... more
This is a cute place and the food was good.
The nasty surprise came at the end. We ordered some sparkling water, 3 bottles by the end of the evening. When the bill came, they charged us 8 dollars a bottle! I think they are a buck and seventy five cents each at costco. I understand they need to make...

I have been to this restaurant a number of times but this was the first time on a Saturday night. The food and service were up to par but I found the noise level a little uncomfortable. I went to this restaurant with my wife and our friend while we visited her in Vancouver. Upon arrival we were greeting nicely by the host and our server was very personable and attentive. Allthough we live within walking distance this was our and not the last visit to the Bistro. The restaurant is small so I would advise reservations. The menue is very organic and locally focused. We dined at trafalgers this past Saturday night, and it was a wonderful dinner! We thoroughly enjoyed expert attention to detail, the food was magnificent, the setting relaxed and friendly. The waitresses were helpful and attentive, without interfering in our conversation. We both enjoyed our entrees immensely. Wines by the glass were a little pricey. By all means, save room... more
I had a totally tasteless meal at Trafalgers, a departure from previous visits! Caesar salad was dry lettuce with a sprinkling of cheese, Gnocci with pesto was tasteless and the salted caramel tart was overshadowed by the chocolate. Not sure if they were scrimping on sauces but far too expensive for such lackluster food!
You have to try it! Great food... you gotta try the bistro fries!!!!
Awesome friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. just what we needed
Great atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food, well-priced. A nice neighbourhood restaurant with outdoor tables. Nothing to dislike here.
Very nice neighbourhood bistro with friendly host and servers and fresh seafood.
We've been here several times and are always surprised by what the chefs can produce in such a tiny kitchen. Our last visit was in support of a local fundraiser Dining out for Life. The restaurant produced a special $35 3-course prix fixe for the occasion and honestly, you could not ask for better quality or value. We opted for... more
We go to Trafalgar's for special occasions. It's not inexpensive, more midrange, but it's worth it for a real treat. Not long ago we went for a special tasting menu based around lamb. One specific lamb, to be exact, raised organically in BC. And oh my, the ways they found to prepare the various parts of the lamb were sublime,... more

Very little appealed to us at Trafalgars Bistro. The ambience gave you a 'crowded' feeling and tables were too small. The lunch menu had very few choices. Sitting out on the patio during a cool evening, they provided comfy wraps for our shoulders .

vancouver has lotsof mediocre restaurants billed as something fantastic, trafalgars however lives up to its reputation. excellent food with local ingredients, friendly but not too friendly staff, and value priced. we go here for lunch every time we visit vancouver, highly recommended.
probably the best value considering the high quality of the food. this is a casual restaurant with class and people who know how to run a restaurant. we go here as often as we can and recommend to everyone as i know few comparable restaurants in vancouver.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant outside city proper. Wait staff made you feel at home - food was excellent
Mediocre food with high prices. Easy parking in a nice area of town. Good and very friendly service.
There's not much more you could ask for in a restaurant - I've been coming here for years and it keeps getting better and better. The food is all local and cooked in tune with the seasons, and the wait staff are the right balance of professional, warm and friendly. Their menu is $34 for 3 courses, considering the quality & quantity it's one of the best deals in Vancouver. They offer all of... more
food is always reliable and service is personal. great 3 course menu for $35. the best desserts in vancouver.
Incredible food in a comfortable, well-appointed but never pretentious room. The eggs benny on the potato latke brings all good things about brunch onto one plate.
wonderful presentation of food which is tasty. The best dessert in town with an attached bakery
Great little neighbourhood restaurant. Very intimate - candlelight dinners. Great food at reasonable prices
A lovely little spot. The food is great, especially the desserts that come from the bakery next door!
one really goes there for the cornucopia of desserts, the food is just secondary and therefore, they have not gone out of their way to dazzle, but it's well prepared and tasty
Delicious!Great locale, great food. One of my faves. You can always count on the quality.
neighborhood gem with a devoted following. older, quieter crowd means conversation is feasible.
This place is a ladies who lunch place with lovely wood trim and white table clothes. There is an outdoor terrace too for warm days. The menu disappoints though. I used to find more items that i liked 6 years ago and now I find the items too heavy. Ladies
The best place for ladies who lunch - pretty room, delicious soups and the best desserts.
I’d heard of a promising dessert shop through a local friend of mine who recommended it, and a week back I finally made my first stop at Sweet Obession Cakes & Pastries on 16th avenue in Kitsilano. I’ll reserve comments on the desserts here, as this is a post on the establishment next door, Trafalgars Bistro, which I noticed as I was leaving the shop and made a mental note to check it out. Trafalgar's is a great place for brunch, as well as dessert and cofee/tea. The food is sophisticated without being pretentious. The servers are lovely and the restaurant owners attentive to details. After years of coming here, my enthusiasm remains undimmed.
Quaint Restaurant, Delicious Food
surprising good! a must try.
Trafalgar is rumored to have some of the best desserts in Vancouver and it lives up to that reputation. The wine and dessert pairings are inspired. It is a very romantic place to go to for a date. If you want their dessert for a bit cheaper, go to sweet obsessions next door. It shares a kitchen with Trafalgar and sells their desserts at a sweeter price. Homey but polished Kitsilano bistro offers a variety of creative, seasonal dishes. Extensive dessert menu. $$. B/L (daily), D (M-Sa), brunch (Sa-Su).
This intimate neighborhood bistro has a menu overflowing with global culinary influences. France, Italy, Greece, Spain and Asia are well represented in a selection of entrees that can be enjoyed for brunch, lunch and dinner. Founded in 2006 by chef Chris Beltrano, Trafalgars serves up an eclectic variety of contemporary french cuisine. The warm interiors coupled with the patio give the restaurant a cozy feel. In a short time, it has become one of the favorite dining destinations in the area with a loyal following.
