Gorgeous two-bedroom suites
July 10, 2010

We booked a two-bedroom suite for an extended family trip. The suite was essentially the size of three large hotel rooms: two of the rooms as bedrooms and one room as a living room/full kitchen. It was HUGE and extremely elegant: multiple huge televisions, multiple refrigerators, lush bedding, three bathrooms. We could have slept 6-8 people perfectly comfortable in the... more

June 14, 2010

Our family recently had the opportunity to visit this hotel and were extremely disappointed. This is definately not a 5 star resort. Please see list of complaints below, staff did not point out or direct you to any amenities, when asked a very general directive was given. What is the Mac????? bathroom supplies were not restocked daily kitchen not well... more

Terrible experience
May 29, 2010

Absolutely no sense of customer service and this hotel does NOT offer housekeeping! Had to stay in the same uncleaned room for 2 days/ 2 nights. Even after complaining to the manager on night duty who sent fresh towels as a justification for no one having cleaned our room all day!

Golf course by race track
April 16, 2010

My husband and I were there last summer while a Monster Truck weekend was held nearby. It was completely absurd. Rooms and golfing were disrupted by squealing tires, mufflers, and loud engines. Who's the genius who thought of developing a golf resort by a racing facility? If you do stay there, ask for a room on they side away from... more

my husband and I stayed for 4 nights at the end of May. We booked a 2 room suite in the fairways building rather than the club house, we asked for a mountain view and that was what we got. February 08, 2010

We stayed here for one night to celebrate my 40th birthday. We were blown away by the view and our room was so nice I had to ask the desk clerk if they upgraded us. Our room was in a building that was tucked away in the trees beside a golf course. The room was a standard room and was... more

Fabulous Hotel
January 27, 2010

I stayed at this hotel in February 2009 with a friend for a girls weekend. We had an absolutely fabulous experience at The Westin Bear Mountain. The room was spacious and clean and soooooo fresh. They have some special air system in there and you can really tell the difference. So not a stuffy hotel feeling at all. The balcony... more

Nice hotel
January 16, 2010

The rooms were very spacious (2 twin beds) and very nice finishings (slate floors, granite counter tops). Very nice bathroom with separate soaker bathtub and shower. My only complaint is the shared balcony -- people in the other room would walk by and look into my room. A partition on the balcony between room would be nice.

December 29, 2009

My husband and I recently stayed at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa as we were attending a company Christmas party there in the evening. It only took us about 15/20 minutes to get there from downtown Victoria and the drive up the mountain was very scenic and beautiful. Once at the top you really cant see anything... more

September 27, 2009

Stayed here two nights while in Victoria for business. This hotel definitely caters more to the leisure/vacation crowd than business travelers, but I still very much enjoyed my stay. September 15, 2009

The glossy page ads caught our attention! Wow, this look like an amazing place! The mountain setting and golf courses are amazing. The hotel itself is trying so hard to deliver that same experience. Not happening though. It begins with the lack of an airport shuttle so expect to pay $60- $70 for your cab ride there. The resort itself... more

Maybe its just growing pains
August 06, 2009

Maybe the resort is just still getting the kinks worked out, but there are some definite problems. First, the staff is mostly incredibly young and not focusing on service. Are there only young people on "summer vacation" available to work? The three building arrangement is awkward (two hotel buildings and the fitness/pool building). We stayed in the Clubhouse which I... more

August 02, 2009

Golf was excellent, the Mountain course was better than the Valley course. Amazing spa with mineral pool with a beautiful view of the 18th hole. Great food and very accommodating and helpful staff. The pool was a fantastic addition to a golf resort - something for the golfer and the lounger. It would be nice to have kids' hours or kids' section as there were a lot of cannonballs in close quarters!

August 01, 2009

The best feature was by far the rooms, which were huge and up to date. Excellent hotel, we were in Victoria for a wedding and had a great time staying at the Westin Bear Mountain. One thing to note is that there is a $15 / day resort fee that we were not aware of until we arrived. Try the sushi restuarant if you stay there - it's excellent.

Firstly, we won a radio contest to the resort and had heard so many wonderful things we were really looking forward to our 2 day getaway. We were not disappointed! From the moment I turned into the resort 'development', I knew I had made a great choice. While it's being touted as a four star hotel/retreat high in the natural surroundings of Vancouver Island it is, unfortuantely, neither.
