Connected to five major office towers and over 400 stores, businesses and services in the Edmonton City Centre Mall, every convenience of downtown Edmonton is at your fingertips
Good location, Avis right downstairs.
I spent one night here on a romantic weekend with my boyfriend. We indulged in the chocolate buffet which was delicious and also enjoyed the complimentary spa package in conjunction with Eveline Charles which was really fun and relaxing. The room itself was really fresh, clean and modern with a very comfortable king size bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in Edmonton.
Best to look elsewhere as the Internet booking was grossly different from reality.
I mean why would you have nice pool photos only to find the pool facility CLOSED!
I ordered champagne & chocolates, but they never showed. After complaining, just the chocolates showed, without the promised champagne. Needed a room change because the toilet didn't work properly...& more.
the good: connected to the mall, chop steakhouse at the lobby, staff were really helpful and pleasant
the bad: the hotel is really, really old. the decor is tired, think floral wallpaper and drapes. even the toiletries smelled like those perfume-y loose powders that grandmothers love. sorry... my room was on the 3rd floor a few steps from the elevator... more
The lobby of the hotel was beautiful and the staff polite and helpful. The rooms elevator, halls and rooms were clean as was the pool area. We were here on business and had been booked in here by a client. Was a great choice. All staff were friendly and helpful, hotel lobby very bright & modern. Room was fairly large...think the only thing that I would mention here was that the carpets need a cleaning. Bathroom was large with lots of towels. Bed comfortable, pillows good.... more
The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful! The lobby is amazing. they are renovating but we didn't even notice any noise or mess. The pool area is very nice and relaxing. its a bit of a gross part of the city so when you are inside the hotel if feels like a completely different place.
Elegant design. Has everything you want. Infrastructure is old so water drains, lighting, and even elevators are very very outdated.
The name has changed, and the property is older, but the hotel is still a great place to stay in Edmonton. We were able to walk to all the shopping we needed to do, to the Art Gallery and our dinner restaurant.
windows were dirty, that might have been because of the season. Front desk staff were friendly.
It's been years since we stayed in Edmonton, but we made a long weekend out of the 11/12 of April and stayed here, as we enjoyed our stay some years ago. The pool area is under renovations, but we were still able to use it. I'm sure it will be lovely when the renos are complete. The views from this... more
The hotel has had some renos but needs more. see picture of antiquated temperature control system.
The underground parking at $31/day is steep. If you pay $45 per day extra for a better room, however, the parking is included. Thats what we did. An expensive way to get free parking.

Last week we booked the Sutton Edmonton for two nights to enjoy some city shopping and to attend the Oilers game against Anaheim. It was without exception the best decision we made. Having previously stayed several times at the Sutton Vancouver our expectations and anticipation were high. Let me say we were not disappointed!! The hotel staff were friendly and... more
Good to see that they appear to be starting on a renovation on the rooms before the rooms get that shabby look. The elevators show all the signs of needing a major reno. They tended to bounce when stopping on the fourth floor. Early Sunday morning at least one of the three was not working. By 10:30 none of the elevators were working. The staff was really good about bringing an additional chair... more
I've stayed at Sutton Place in Vancouver -- clean, not "new" but upscale, updated in the last 30 years and... I'll say it again... clean.
Sutton Edmonton is terrible. The staff mean well (specifically their night security guy was great given the circumstances), and yes the hotel is planning to have "badly needed" (their quote) renovations but this place is... more
This old hotel is worn out. Elevators didn't work. Hallways and rooms dowdy and old. The front desk was staffed by ONE staff member even though the hotel was sold out. The hallways were full of loud parties until 4:30 in the morning and no response from hotel security. Security staff encountered were feet up and reading magazines at their desk. Front desk staff looked like they were still in... more
The hotel is lovely and right downtown. The parking was a bit confusing and a little costly ($25 for the night). The room was spacious and very clean. However, we were not informed that we were being placed in an adjoining room next to what sounded like a frat house party for most of the night and the morning. Waking up to "CHUG, CHUG, CHUG!" was not exactly how I pictured my romantic weekend... more
This hotel should not rate above a 2 star rating. The pool area is still under renovation. The hot tub was out of order and the change rooms were closed. I took a chance booking this thinking that it might finally be open but alas.... I think the biggest disappointment would have to be the paper thin walls. I was woken up by the partiers at 4am. Not a great thing since I only went to bed at... more
Front desk employees not very friendly, I had to reservations in two different names I gave one name found it fast, the second reservation for some reason can not be find with original name, she just not look or help to find the other one even that I showed the reservation confirmation from expedia, very poor costumer service!!
Hotel staff were excellent, friendly, efficient. my only complaint is the pool facilities closed without notice when i booked. however they did give us passes to a local gym.
Outdated rooms. Problem with toilet. Parking cost is high.
Older style room, bed was comfy, nothing for young kids on the room service menu. Walls looked dirty with the old wallpaper. Booked the room thinking there was a pool, only to find out it's down for 3 weeks. Windows had lots of finger prints so obviously they dont clean them regularly. Kids were very upset the pool was down. Probably not going to stay there as there is better hotels for less
Hotel staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is connected to the Edmonton Shopping Centre and has a nice restaurant "Chops" that we enjoyed one night. We were looking for a hotel that was close to the U of A and found this to be an ideal location.
Mistakenly booked this hotel, really didn't want down town, but was impressed by the rate and went with it. Hotel was nice, renovations were being done so pool and fitness room was closed but they gave access to a gym near by. Beds were comfy and met our expectations.
I was expecting a very nice hotel as you would expect for a Sutton Place... Well it is not what you are getting. The place looks like that you are back to 1980's. They indicated in the lobby that they will be renovating very soon and beleive me that will not be a luxury, My stay at a Comfort Inn... more
My husband and I checked in and he asked about parking twice. They didn't bother to tell us that we needed a parking pass. When he went back to the desk to collect a parking pass the were argumentative about giving him one.

A friend recommended this hotel, but we were very disappointed with it! It's downtown, so you have to pay for parking. The last hotel we stayed at in downtown Edmonton was $20/night. Here we payed a whopping $31 or $34 /night. The nice part was it's underground parking...nice and warm when it's -30 outside, but the second night the underground parking was full (it's not just hotel guests that... more
The Sutton is well located. Parking is expensive, but you're in the heart of downtown. The hotel does need some attention to wrinkles in the carpet, peeling wall paper in corners, bedspreads with repairs and slightly marred furniture, but this hotel is rught across the street from the future edmonton Coliseum and will probably be gutted for a full refit once the Coliseum is completed and the... more
We chose this hotel for a one-night stay when we were in Edmonton to attend hockey games. The staff at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the Chop lounge. We would definitely recommend Sutton Place to our family and friends.
like the location and the pool room the room was what i expected the only complaint i had was that there was a noise from the bathroom every once and while on a pump running or pipes shaking in the wall but still it was only once in a while and it didn't last long
We were asked to upgrade our room after paying discounted rate on Expedia. The upgrade was supposed to be "better linens" and "better furniture". The room was the exact same, had no fridge in it. The only thing this did was put us on the 21st floor instead of the 3rd. They also charge $26/day to park. Other hotels in downtown Edmonton are free parking while staying. When asked why the receipt... more
We recently stayed at the Sutton Place in Edmonton. It was very disappointing. The hotel is under construction yet the website doesn't warn or acknowledge this fact. Our room was tired to say the least - stained wallpaper, broken shower head, dirty sheets left in the room....on it goes. I would never return to this hotel. Enough said!
The hotel lobby is clean and maintained well inside. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a deluxe standard room with a king sized bed that was comfortable and clean. The only disappointment was the fact that the recycle bin had not been cleaned from the prior guest which makes one think whether the room had been cleaned or not. Assuming it was, as there were no other... more
I was a little worried by some of the reviews saying the hotel was tired and dated, but we found it to be clean and usable. I check in and get to the room with the family. No towels on the room. I call the front desk and ask for towels. Two hours later, still no towels. I personally visit the front desk and ask for towels - I am told that they are out of towels, sorry - we cannot help you. I cannot even... more
Although, the hotel is in a great location in downtown Edmonton, there's absolutely nothing to do there after dark. In addition, the hotel is located across the street from a sketchy greyhound station.
Parking is an additional $25 but there are free on streets parking in evening and weekends.

This is an older hotel and furnishings reflected that. Great location though, linked by pedway to major shopping mall. If you are a smoker, this is not the place to stay as there is no accommodation outdoors for smokers.
stayed at this hotel for two weeks on business. Check in was very quick and friendly. Room was large and comfortable. Had good sleep in the king size bed. Great location and easy access to Edmonton Center Mall by pedway as well as various office towers. The complex has the Chop Steak house in the lobby as well as the... more
I booked this hotel, as my husband and I stayed before and hadn't had any issues, but I was full of trepidation, having read some of the more recent reviews. Basically, the hotel was convenient to my convention at the Shaw, and was one of the better rates we were given for the area, so I went with it.
I took a flyer and booked through expedia's 40% off, book-first find-out-where-later offer. I knew i wanted a hotel downtown, rated at 3.5 or better, and that's what I got. Check-in was fast, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect. It's not brand-new and flashy, but it's in great shape and offers several amenities. Checkout was quick and efficient - desk staff were... more
I struggled with this rating. The room itself was very comfortable and quiet. We slept well on the king size bed and found the pillows very comfortable. The bathroom was a little outdated, but clean.

I really enjoyed the awesome roof level pool area, and having both the high end "Chop" restaurant as well as the cozy Elephant and Castle pub in the hotel. Underground parking was nice too, although not cheap. I did unfortunately have a heating problem with my room which is being addressed, but otherwise great room and reasonable price.
Upon Check in at hotel we were greeted by friendly staff. The room was clean although a little chilly. Valet parking was quick and efficient. Biggest disappointment was breakfast. Although the food was good....it however was costly for overcooked bacon and 2 eggs. I would expect that for $2.99 for a cup of coffee that I wouldn't have to beg and borrow a refill or two. Overall a wonderful and... more
We used this venue because it was downtown, for the shoppers and movie fans. Indoor parking is great in winter and the pool and hot tub are always a necessity for the kids. Good restraunts and coffee shops added to our decision. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
I got lost in the underground parking lot almost one hr and not only me I saw other people got the same problem , also they charged me 26$ For a parking spot
We could hear and feel the wind actually coming through the window. We cranked the heat (which only came from a vent below the window) as it was freezing. Then we put the fan on to blow the heat around. It made a lot of loud noises and clunking. The sink in the bathroom was broken. When trying to pull the plug up (the kind attached inside the plumbing), it came out, but the sink plug remained... more
Charges for underground parking overnight were exorbitant (so we parked elsewhere). There was no free breakfast. There was construction around the lobby (though rooms were nice and quiet). Room was clean enough, but bedding smelled kind of dusty, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it hadn't been washed in a while. Booked this as a "blind deal" so didn't pay full price, but I was still... more
This place is run down. If you have allergies than stay away, the rooms are heated by a central system that obviously hasn't been cleaned judging by the caked on dust from the vents. It's places like this that make me dislike Edmonton.
This is my second stay at this property. This is an older hotel with modern lobby charm. The rooms are older with an older AC system but my room was cool and warm enough. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The best thing about this hotel is proximity to restaurants and the downtown mall. Everything can be found... more
My husband and I stayed at this hotel because our holiday party was hosted there and the company paid for our room. It took forever to check in, and then we got stuck in the elevator. This hotel is not up to usual Sutton Place standards. It's an overpriced dump that offers dirty, small suites, poor service, mediocre expensive food and it was chilly.
It may improve when the renovations are finished but not unless they train their staff.
I love this place...well located and you can shop without going outside! there is a passerelle from the hotel to the shopping mail which is very convenient!
there is a little starbucks cafe on 2nd floor and the lady working there is super friendly!
The restaurant at the hotel is simply amazing...food is awesome and the staff is friendly!
Room was clean and well appointed. Had an issue during my stay but the manager, Mr. Harris was very professional and dealt with it to my satisfaction. Would return. Location is excellent for downtown business and shopping. Some construction was ongoing during the stay which made for some inconvenience, but nothing major.
The star review does not match the rating for this hotel. It is completely outdated, un-kept, dirty and barely deserving of a 1 star. During my travels to remote regions I have spent nights in motels that far exceeded the quality of Sutton Place.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I arrived late and had to leave early (booked... more
We love this hotel! Yes, there was a wee bit of construction that only affected part of the lobby and the parkade elevator, but did not bother us. The bed was the best part of the hotel. Agree the incomplete renovations in an inconvenience but I was mainly disappointed with the cool rooms. Despite having the thermostat cranked to the highest setting, I estimate the room temperature was around 15 celcius (or 58 Fah). 3 out of 4 people company staying here (on 4 different floors) found the rooms cool/cold....so you have a small chance of getting... more
Stayed for a night while while on business in Edmonton. The place is overpriced and of little value. They advertise and sell room as renovated even though the renovation was done 5 years ago. Construction is still ongoing. The only pro is a central location.
The hotel was under contruction when we arrived, which wasn't disclosed at the time of booking. Staff was unaccomodating, our vehicle was too large to fit in underground parking so we had to park down the street, that makes me extremely uncomfortable in downtown Edmonton. Parking was not included, probably my own fault for not looking that up. Our room... more
This hotel is in the process of being upgraded and the rooms though large and comfortable need a make over. The location is great, smack in the middle of town not far from Churchill square and the shopping malls. The pool on the top floor is of a reasonable size but the gym is quite small.
Whilst this Hotel is very Central in downtown Edmonton they need to update on Customer skills front desk. No eye contact. No kettle to make a hot drink tea, what happens when you don't drink coffee???Room service meal was disgusting,... more
Hotel is situated in downtown Edmonton with easy access to all downtown amenities. Hotel lobby was under renovation. Some aspects of rooms are getting dated, but they are large and comfortable. Renovations were a bit of a pain and would have liked to have seen a discount for that.
There was no bathroom exhaust fan- would like to see that added.
Friendly staff. Great food and room service.
Would like to see a speedier way to check-out, was very tedious to stand in line- perhaps express checkout as an option.
I took a gable with a Hotwire website and ended up with The Sutton Place. After telling people that I was staying here for a wedding, people assumed I was 'classy' and had a lot of money to blow. Luckily, the price is right and the location is worth it. However, the hotel is indeed old and the rooms could... more
The initial issue was that they gave away our room with a two beds but told us it was our mistake (despite us having a confirmation printed out confirming we booked a room with 2 beds) and kept trying tying to give us a room with a bed and a cot, repeatedly claiming there were no other options. Finally, after... more
Stayed here for meetings in Edmonton in late September 2013. It's a very nice hotel in the heart of downtown Edmonton; attached to major shopping centre Edmonton City Centre by the city's outstanding pedway system, as well as to office towers and other facilities. Front desk staff were impersonal and provided little or no information on the hotel nor its surroundings. if you plan on being connected with the outside world at all do not stay here. at first glance the hotel is not bad and the restaurant is pretty good, but I stayed here for a week and the internet was so bad and the hotel staff so uncaring that I cannot reccomend this place to anyone. L
The two nights I stayed here were okay, despite the ongoing renovations. The room was clean and comfortable and I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little dated but maybe they are included in the overall renovation plans. For now I couldn't rate it better than average.
location is great.
Hotel is under renovation, dusty and noisy. Front desk staff did not understand that, a person in line at the front desk comes BEFORE a phone call. Staff was surprised that as a business client, I was actually willing to pay for "business" services. One front desk clerk never knew the answer to anything - she always had to ask someone else. Front desk clerk was... more

We stayed here one night. This is not an upscale hotel. They have redone the lobby but the new couches are already stained. After a regular flush of our toliet it began to overflow. Stayed here for 10 nights and had the hot water in my room at just above body temperature, room service a complete disaster, and a manager that made me feel like I was doing something wrong when I called to have something fixed. For downtown Edmonton and especially in winter months, have plus 15s that can take you anywhere without walking outside. Edmonton Centre with shopping is adjacent. Has been updated but it took forever to do. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast included is nothing more than stale pastry, boxed cereal and fruit that has seen better days.
We booked this hotel on line and they said parking was included, but when we arrived at the check in they told us that we have to pay for every night we stay at the hotel.
The final rate was much more expensive that if we would booked in a 5 star hotel.
Sutton Place Hotel is known for class and outstanding customer service, but it was obvious that this particular hotel is in dire need of renovation. it took an hour to sort it out. I really appreciated the staffs effort
to resolve the issue.
This hotel was disappointing, not a disaster, but it just felt tired. The line to check in was always 5 or 6 people deep. Well, hotel was really nice'n quiet, clean, front desk people were nice. but
I booked this hotel for 2 adult and one child(she is almost 12 years old) and we got one king size bedroom. One bed for 3 of us!! I couldn't believe that! The bed was very big and great for two people.
The location was right downtown and close to many attractions/restaurants/bars/shopping.

Rooms are very dated, and not the cleanest. Amenities are also not the best for the price and star rating. Doesn't qualify as a 3.5. star hotel. Service was pretty good though and having the CHOP steakhouse right nest to the lobby. Hotel location isn't bad either.
Hotel is part of shopping mall
Plain room was very expensive
the food was amazing the room was very clean and bright
the extra cost for parking
No spare towels in the room. We only had two towels. No spare pillows in room. No spare blankets in room. We were booked into a king bed and our room had two double beds. All in all, very disappointed for money spent.
Very nice hotel right in the heart of Edmonton, the chop restaraunt was very good, with very friendly staff, all in all, pleasant stay, would recommend to others, thanks for keeping a clean hotel.

downtown location, good steakhouse in hotel
lobby is shabby looking and not real clean. The room we had was old and tired. In need of an update. No gift shop/convenience store on the property.
The Chop restaurant is a nice added touch.
No Starbucks and no gift shop open yet.
I stayed in a deluxe king room but it wasn't any better than a regular king room at your average holiday inn. I thought this hotel was supposed to be a little more high class. Also the room didn't have a refrigerator, you would think one of those would be in a deluxe room.
Very comfortable beds, clean room
Hotel is very outdated, needs renovations. Appears some reonvation was being done in the lobby. Also, elevators were very slow and one of three was Out of Order. Excellent value for money. Location next to YMCA gave cause for concern initially but this concern proved to be unfounded. Would recommend it .
The Sutton Place was terrific - from the friendly staff to the very clean and comfortable room. The pool was great - good hours, clean and private. Good security.

Staff, location, and convenience
It's cold. Stayed their twice and no matter what we set the temperature to, it never warmed up.
Decent but dated hotel. Convenient location, especially being connected to the downtown pedways and City Centre mall.
Really enjoying downtown. Walking wherever I want to go. The people at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming.
The room accomodations were very nice and the bed very comfortable. Front Desk Staff was OUTSTANDING!

Nothing. The facility is run down and no where worth the price they charge. Only reason I stayed was no other properties in the downtown core where available.
Dirty carpets, very old fixtures, wallpaper peeling.
Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Beds were comfortable. Good location for downtown.
Cleanliness of rooms was poor-dirty under beds. Hotel and rooms were dated-not like photos of hotel. Mold in bathrooms and poor water pressure. Hotel parking was expensive and not included in price of room.
Located downtown and close to the mall.
I got to the hotel ask for my room and was told I don't have a room

it was cheap and the room was big and clean. worth my money
Hot tub and pool
Suite. First I opened my suite door... There was something smell
refrigerator was running noise. Curtain cannot be closed 100% so light in the morning was annoy. There is no way we knows where the pool and hot tub would be.. No information in any paper forms. I phoned lobby and asked them where it would be when it would be closed
Everything was really good..
I didn't book directly with the sutton place I book with booking.com
they offer things that The Sutton didn't even have they said I could get

Because there is No king size with pull out sofa
There are much better options in downtown Edmonton at thistle much
option. They charged extra 23 $ per day for parking . I would not

Everything else -- The room was not clean -hair on the floor and in the tub of the bathroom, the front desk does not pick the phone, and house keeping never retruned the call for a registered message. Barely a two star
This hotel was a great value for the money! Located in the heart of downtown, on a cool autumn day I didn't even need to put a jacket on to enjoy shopping in the core, as it's conveniently connected to the pedway system. I literally had to plug my... more
The Sutton Place Edmonton was a great choice for its proximity to the Edmonton City Centre complex. It's connected via pedway to the complex, which means you don't have to go outside. The room was very comfortable and the staff were helpful. There's no gym in the hotel, but as a hotel guest you get a preferred rate at the gym in the attached complex. Only downside was the walls seemed a... more
I stayed in this hotel May 28 & May 29. The staff were great but the first indication I had this was not a 4 star hotel was waking up in the morning to an awful smell in the room. House keeping came and advised the plumbing lines were plugged causing the foul odor. Instead of moving me to another room while they repair it they send in the plumber while I am in the room. Not exactly relaxing or... more
Stayed here 3 nights and it was ok but certainly not a 4 star. As others have said it is dated and the carpets and fixtures need updating. The worst was the noise with kids running in the hallways and nothing done about it (well after midnight) by staff after it was brought to their attention by numerous guests. The restaurant is expensive for what you get.
This may have been a 4 star hotel in 1981. I guess for the price (week before Christmas) the value was OK. But normally I would NOT stay here again. Everything worked OK, and was reasonably clean, and service was OK. But the whole place needs a MASSIVE renovation, particularly the bathrooms. I am not a fan of chipped enamel in the sink of a "4 star" hotel. The local Motel 6, OK fine, but not a... more
Very well appointed, beds were great but the staff were a little surly.
We would recommond this hotel as an acceptable and fairly economical hotel in downtown Edmonton. It is not the place for a special occasion or vacation ( ie. not a resort or a destination property) but if one is just looking for a decent place to sleep, it was good value . It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The linens were nice, except for one very thin, worn-out pillow. The staff... more
I would recommend the the Sutton Place Hotel Edmonton. The location is excellent and the price was definitely right. It is a bare bones hotel - no luxuries at all, but it is clean and relatively new and well-kept. Very good value for money and it met my expectations.
Would most certainly recommend it to others. The room was very comfortable and clean ,the restaurant meals were great. This is the second time we have stayed at this Hotel and we think it is good value for money. The staff are very friendly and they all looked after us well. We arrived early and they said they would bring forward the preparation of our room and have it ready in 45 minutes,... more
Staff were great nut I received a smoking room when I do not smoke. Hotel could not change.
I was here on business... I stayed on the 24th floor in a deluxe King room. The King bed was very comfortable.... I don't usually sleep well in hotels but I had not waken up once throughout the night. Staff are really friendly and helpful. You need a hotel room key to access the hotel elevators so that added to the security of the hotel. Hotel room was clean although the carpet pattern may not... more
