Good location, Avis right downstairs.
I spent one night here on a romantic weekend with my boyfriend. We indulged in the chocolate buffet which was delicious and also enjoyed the complimentary spa package in conjunction with Eveline Charles which was really fun and relaxing. The room itself was really fresh, clean and modern with a very comfortable king size bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in Edmonton.
My family had the most restful sleep we have ever had while in a trip. The mattress was incredible! We also loved the rooftop pool, great views of Edmonton. We got a great deal on the room. You will have to factor the $26 price of parking into your room rate, unless you have no need of parking. Overall we had an awesome stay in this beautiful hotel!
I booked this room for one of our government staff and she was very happy to be able to get to the hotel without having to go outside as it was our coldest day so far! She was very satisfied with the services and enjoyed a really good steak dinner at the hotel. As we have to get the best pricing for government, we were also satisfied with the cost of the room.
A spacious room, indoor walk to Edmonton City Centre mall and LRT connections around the city, Pool on the 26 th floor. Highly recommended.
Front desk gal could not find the expidia reservation , and was really rude about it, we provided all the expidia documentation , res numbers , dates . After 20 minutes she found something on there computors that satisfied her and then we were able to be checked in
Elevators were not working from the garage. The charge for parking is riduclous. Last year when I was there you were going through renovations, still going through more of the same.
Great location-near rapid transit and part of the pedway. Room clean and comfortable. Needs a bit of an upgrade for the shower curtain now that the new curving rods are available-who needs a shower curtain breezing in on them while in the shower. Good water pressure for getting all the conditioner rinsed out of long hair. New coffee makers would be nice-current ones are a little yellowed. When... more
Lobby and other public areas beautiful. Rooms less than mediocre. Overpriced. Other hotels in the area you get much more bang for your dollar over-all. Continental breakfast not available on weekends. Restaurant not family friendly.
Front desk staff were nice. Pool was on top floor. High rise was nice. Location was good. Restaurant supper was delicious. Restaurant service was spectacular.
Elevator was fast and stopped suddenly - sickening. Elevator takes a long time to come to your floor. Had to pay for underground parking, after you find parking elsewhere to make it inside to check... more
From the brochure: it looks like it'll be a great place to stay-when renos are done... It would've been great to know the elevators from the underground parking were not working. All the signage from the parking garage to getting to the hotel was horrible.if we knew they weren't working my husband would've dropped me, my son, stoller, and luggage at the front before parking. The staff was... more
I was expecting a lot more for my money. Photos were misleading and the hotel was like going back in time to the 70's. Everything was very dated and smelled of mothballs. My toilet barely flushed and the bathtub did not drain. Room service was terribly overpriced. Photos of the pool and hot tub were also misleading and these areas were quite dirty. Parking is limited if you have a large vehicle... more
Had allergic reaction to something in my room - probably there were cats and it wasn't cleaned properly. Hotel area is in a seedy part of town, nice hotel but bad part of town. Construction being done everywhere and was hard to find hotel.
I w to see more Distrubution of afoodmachine and Drink (Pop or Jus or Water). Over all every thing is OK. Thanks
I never write reviews as generally I think that they are a waste of time however, my experience was so deplorable that I don't want anyone else to be caught off guard by this hotel. Upon arrival, staff seemed tired, annoyed with me and generally disgruntled. I was issued keys for a room and upon entering the room, I noticed that the room was already occupied by another guest - very awkward.... more
Staff were friendly, room was clean and comfortable, nice bed
The renovations next door were disruptive to the conference I was attending at the hotel
Two of the hotel staff we interacted with were very rude. Others seemed pleasant. Would have been nice to know it was under renovations, and we were not told about the coffee shop of amenities on the second floor. The pool was nice & had a great view! Good downtown location.
I experienced nothing but awful customer service while staying at this hotel. from check in to check out, I never felt comfortable or welcome. When i tried to check in, the lobby was a disaster and staff were not helpful. I had to ask for help checking in, when i was told to wait for assistance at the front desk. I waited for almost 10 minutes before anyone was able to check me in. Once someone... more
hotel had availability for the long weekend. View was great, got to overlook all of edmonton. Enjoyed my one night stay. Did not enjoy the bed at all. Very loud, uncomfortable and squeaky. Did not sleep well at all. Overall, the hotel would have been great, maybe if we were in a different room.
Stay as good service was good and room was clean but the repairs were annoying at the checkout area
There is an ongoing repair in the hotel when we arrived so it's a bit noisy. The receptionists were not friendly at all. We tried asking questions in person and thru phone while in our room but it seems that they don't want to entertain. The room is comfortable enough and the hotel location is covenient with easy access to downtown amenities. However, the lobby is so disgusting with cigarette... more
Nice room, comfy bed, pet friendly. Didn't know we had to pay for parking (26$/night/car), took 30mins to check in, and 1h to check out (only one person working at the front desk at a time), they were jack hammering the floor in the main lobby which made talking to the front desk even harder, and waiting that much more annoying. Hotel main door was a little hard to find because of all the... more
Outdated rooms. Uncomfortable beds. Not very clean. Hair balls in bathroom. Bedding smelt used. Were doing major constructions in lobby early Sunday morning. Some sort of drilling that rattled entire building. Unbelievably loud in the lobby to the point your ears felt like they were bleeding. Should have shut the place down it was so loud. At the very least picked a weekday. Requested joining... more
If you didn't know. Edmonton a downtown is not lived in by the locals who live on the outskirts of the city. It's empty after 6. Leaving you with the homeless issue which is abundant in Edmontons downtown. I didn't know this and unfortunately the hotel is beside a casino and needle exchange. Not the place to be
I was not happy to find out that you have to pay an additional $26.00 per night for parking, I have never been charged for parking at a hotel before. The elevators were terrible as you had to wait in line ups just to get on as there were so many people waiting in line and they seem to take forever to come back down. I would not stay here again, there are way better hotels in the same basic area... more
Upon entering the Sutton Hotel in Edmonton I was happy we had booked there, it was as elegant as I remembered. However that feeling quickly changed when I entered our room. The duvet covered queen bed I expected turned out to be a double covered by an outdated bedspread. One of our lamps was not only broken but propped against the wall with a table. I was disappointed. I have stayed in this... more
The front desk girl was busy. The other girl went into the back room. The girl that was helping me would push me aside to answer the phone. Sue must have answered 15 calls in a row upon my check in. At 5am. There was a guy (staff) yelling in the hall way. It was my neighbours wake up call. My neighbour had failed to answer the phone so I guess at the sutton if one guy does not ear the wake up... more
The lady working at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. It appears that the lobby has been renovated but unfortunately they have not done the rooms yet. The room could really use some updates and new flooring but the bed was fairly comfortable. My biggest complaint would be the cost for parking (26.00 self parking per night ). No matter how good of a deal you get on the room once... more
Parking sucks at $26 a night and we had to park in the Staples parking lot as hotel rents spots from them. So even though we got a great rate for night in hotel we didnt save any money by having to pay extra for parking.Heating took forever to come on.... mostly cold air.... staff were helpful. King size bed was slanted.... higher at bottom but was ok to sleep on.
Old and poorly maintained carpets. No air conditioning which makes stay uncomfortable in summer. Nearly non-existent business center. Just one computer which is out in the lobby with no privacy. And the computer was out of service when it was time to check in and print my boarding passes. Lobby looks nice and renovated but the rooms need to be renovated. Good downtown location. Accessible to... more
Well, hotel was really nice'n quiet, clean, front desk people were nice. but
I booked this hotel for 2 adult and one child(she is almost 12 years old) and we got one king size bedroom. One bed for 3 of us!! I couldn't believe that! We were too tired to complain about that and we had too many things to move. We stayed in that room two nights and of course we couldn't sleep well.
I'm not sure... more
The hotel is slowly updating the lobby and is now looking more modern The service is always excellent and the room service food is excellent. I stay here for business as it is central location and am always treated very well . Friendly staff and helpful
We thought the Front desk and doorman were excellent and would try their best to help you. Especially when I brought down the used condom box to them and also when I advised them of lack of towels and...

We checked in during a long weekend. No line up at the desk, and the counter attendant had a tonne of useful information about Edmonton and the hotel itself. The room was always clean, and decorated tastefully and very comfortable! The staff was extremely accommodating. Booked this while driving and more than an hour later when we arrived at the hotel, they didn't have my expedia reservation (at almost midnight) so I was told to sit and wait. Slightly frustrating when you're tired. The front desk finally got a hold of expedia on the phone and everything was fine minus them putting us in a room which was obviously set up for one guest. It was last minute and... more
Reception was fast and efficient and had us in our rooms without delay. All of our family were given rooms adjacent to each other which was a nice touch allowing for easy visiting and co-ordinating rides and activities! The rooms are well appointed and comfortable! The hotel is getting there - the new restaurant/bar is fantastic and the lobby is nice. But the rooms still need updating and the work in the common areas seems to be neverending... The rates really should better reflect the amount of work still required and the still sketchy neighbourhood.
I booked it because it was cheap compared to being a four star hotel, but when I entered the room I regretted booking it, the windows were very dirty and the floor carpet was filthy with pieces of bacon beside the bed. yeah it looks nice from outside and it is in a great location but I don't recommend anyone... more
We stayed at the Sutton Place and attended a wedding. The reception was fantastic. The food was amazing. Best buffet I have seen at any hotel function. The room was very clean and comfortable and the group rate was excellent. The only thing we had trouble was finding the Hotel. The only sign is at the top of the building... more
Room not that clean and poor quality bed. Dated and needs refreshing.
Got what I thought was a decent deal on the room only to show up and get jacked 26 dollars a night for parking. Not cool - Super 8 would have been a better choice - parking is free and a breakfast thrown on for about the same room style and price
paying for local calls and for parking, staying in the hotel both should have been free
View from 24th floor is amazing. Small rooms but very cozy and clean.
I stayed here while attending a course at NAIT for the weekend. I wanted a place that was on a main bus line (so I didn't have to wake up my husband and toddler to get to my course in the morning), and that had a pool so that they could be entertained while I was gone.
We used the... more
I stayed at this hotel because the location was great. It is an older hotel which has been dressed up. I received a great deal through Expedia but I still had to pay for underground parking and use of the internet. My room was comfortable enough, but just that " comfortable".
Stayed there last week for the first and last time. The room was old and dirty and smelled really bad. The woman at the reception when I went to check in, Fatima, was very rude. The only reason we stayed was that we could not find a room in another hotel on such short notice.
The hotel is "fairly" clean and in a central location within walking distance of several shops, venues and restaurants. They inform guests with signage that the hotel is undergoing updates. Keeping that in mind, we tolerated the atmosphere and quirks.
In my opinion, the mold around the bathtub has nothing to do with upgrades and regardless of how old the... more
Sutton Place is my preferred hotel when I am travelling for work. The service is excellent, room service prompt and friendly. Food is great quality. I also appreciate the morning breakfast. However, when travelling, I enjoy using a hotel fitness facility. There is a fitness facility here, but you have to trek through the mall. I literally roll out of... more
We spent one night at this hotel. Fortunately, our experience wasn't like most others'. Our room was clean and comfortable and check in was without hassle.

Quiet and impeccable clean, we got a very nice room and view -thank you !

From the start I could tell it wasn't going to be a pleasant stay. When I naively arrived, shortly... more
Looking for a trip to Edmonton? It's a very nice city to visit but you may want to think twice about staying at this hotel. While it is central, and has pedways to a number of other spots the rooms are in need of a face lift. The walls also seem to be paper thin or poorly insulated for sound.... more
Because we were in Edmonton attending a wedding and Sutton Place hosted the reception and dance, we chose to stay at this hotel along with a number of other family members and friends who had come to Edmonton for the occasion. My wife and I were disappointed with the room for a few reasons including that when we checked in... more
We chose this hotel for our only night away from family on a week long Alberta road trip. What a disappointment. Location is great but wow, put some funds towards updating the rooms. Linens and bed-covering outdated and ugly, wallpaper ugly, don't get me started on the bathroom - every square inch is ugly and old. Carpet was dirty.....wireless internet... more
The room was good, large enough but it didn't have a minibar. The bed was comfortable. There was a newspaper under the door the next morning. it was ok, people were friendly; but I paid $26 a night for 3 nights and ended up parking in another building because there was some problem with their underground parking lot; the swimming pool was closed for cleaning when I was there; and the dishes from the last nights meal for some patrons was still sitting outside their doors... more
The window looked like it had not been cleaned for years from the outside. When the sun hit the dirt you could not see outside (no exaggeration). I found the room well appointed but tired - likewise the lobby, elevators and hallways - it's a well located business hotel downtown connected by pedways to the office towers - all it needs is a few million dollars to renovate all the usage of a few million guests.
The bed was comfortable , the room was clean but the... more
Rooms are very dated, and not the cleanest. Amenities are also not the best for the price and star rating. Doesn't qualify as a 3.5. star hotel. Service was pretty good though and having the CHOP steakhouse right nest to the lobby. Hotel location isn't bad either.
I will have stayed here for 5 weeks and will have truly enjoyed my stay. Curtious service, attentionate cleaning staff, good resto-bar. The only minuses for this hotel are its downtown situation, without many people living around here, everything closes early and/or not open on weekends; and these corners seem to be very popular with the very forward homeless people... more
My family and I recently stayed at this hotel, after finding a good price on Hotwire. Hotwire rated this hotel 3.5 which I think is too high. To start with, parking unr the hotel will cost $26.00, which is nearly one quarter of the price quoted for the room. The pool is small and out dated. The bed were not... more
Even though the hotel is under renovations, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The current state is tired and needs a face lift, but the bed was comfortable and the food from the Chop House was fantastic.

We've been going to the Sutton Place Hotel for 10 years and we wouldn't think of going to any other hotel. The location is the best in Edmonton. Centrally located with so many activities nearby. First of all the positives. The front desk staff and concierge and waiting staff are helpful and try hard. There is an internal walkway to the downtown city centre mall and a somewhat dated but nice enough pool and health spa on the top floor

Decent location, but boy do they need to update their rooms - actually their entire look. It is tired, with old wallpaper, and tubs that have their finishes coming off. Goos clean hotel, great area for walking to facilities. Well first of all I am not one to slam a negative rating on a Hotel without just cause. I booked this accomodation with a large group of people attending an AGM.

The Sutton Place Hotel is another of those hotels that are neither old and ellegant, nor modern and polished. I'm not sure how to best rate Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton. It is a hotel with great potential that lives up to expectations in a few areas but is generally run down.

I recently stayed at the Sutton Place in Edmonton. Sadly the hotel is very dated and run down, also they don't even have a gift shop open to get snacks. A very tired hotel. The rooms are spacious but need to be updated. The beds are fine. It is rather a bizarre place and takes about a day to figure out how to get around in the hotel. The service in the restaurant in the hotel was very bad.
Horrible experience at this hotel. The entire place is very dated and lacking modern upgrades but that's something that I can live with. My entire stay stay was just a comedy of errors. Really hard to try and find a positive for this hotel to be honest. I agree with the other reviews, the hotel and the rooms especially seemed very dated. Nothing premier about this place: just a perfectly acceptable ordinary business stopover that's identical to a hundred other competitors. Stayed there one night on business and was glad it was only one night. It is self described as downtown Edmonton's "premier luxury business hotel" - which may have been the case in 1985, but is laughable in 2013. Location is great and that's about it. Lobby is in the midst of some kind of partial renovation where they added... more

If you like a restful evening after a busy day this is not the hotel for you.

Decent but dated hotel. Convenient location, especially being connected to the downtown pedways and City Centre mall.
Really enjoying downtown. Walking wherever I want to go. The people at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming.
This hotel was a great value for the money! Located in the heart of downtown, on a cool autumn day I didn't even need to put a jacket on to enjoy shopping in the core, as it's conveniently connected to the pedway system. I stayed in this hotel May 28 & May 29. The staff were great but the first indication I had this was not a 4 star hotel was waking up in the morning to an awful smell in the room. Stayed here 3 nights and it was ok but certainly not a 4 star. As others have said it is dated and the carpets and fixtures need updating. The worst was the noise with kids running in the hallways and nothing done about it (well after midnight) by staff after it was brought to their attention by numerous guests. The restaurant is expensive for what you get.
This may have been a 4 star hotel in 1981. I guess for the price (week before Christmas) the value was OK. But normally I would NOT stay here again. Everything worked OK, and was reasonably clean, and service was OK. But the whole place needs a MASSIVE renovation, particularly the bathrooms. I am not a fan of chipped enamel in the sink of a "4 star" hotel. The local Motel 6, OK fine, but not a... more
Very well appointed, beds were great but the staff were a little surly.
We would recommond this hotel as an acceptable and fairly economical hotel in downtown Edmonton. It is not the place for a special occasion or vacation ( ie. not a resort or a destination property) but if one is just looking for a decent place to sleep, it was good value . It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The linens were nice, except for one very thin, worn-out pillow. The staff... more
I would recommend the the Sutton Place Hotel Edmonton. The location is excellent and the price was definitely right. It is a bare bones hotel - no luxuries at all, but it is clean and relatively new and well-kept. Very good value for money and it met my expectations.
Would most certainly recommend it to others. The room was very comfortable and clean ,the restaurant meals were great.
