Please do not stay at this hotel! Some of the pluggins did not even work so had to move the TV to a different plug. Room was not very good it smelled. I had read so many bad reviews of this place that I never would have chosen to stay here... but I had a last-minute medical appointment in Calgary and had to get a room- fast. I knew it wasn't a good sign that the Pointe Inn was the only hotel in Calgary that still had rooms available....... now I know... more
The room was extremly cold and not very clean. There was the bare minimum for towels, if you can even call them that, as well as soap (one bar). We tried using the bathroom fan to help circulate the air, but had to turn it off because it sounded as if it might catch on fire. You definately get what... more
Upon checking in we were told to wait because they were too busy to help us. 40 minutes later we're told "I guess I'll have to help you now." As she was checking us in she got mad because we didn't have the exact credit card used to book, and threatened to cancel our booking and refuse us a room.... more
Very nasty hotel, lots of druggies and crackheads in this place!
Every thing was dirty and sticky. Walls are paper thin. Basically no real beds - just mattresses on a disgusting fecal mattered stained carpet floor.
I had to stay here for one night as everything else in the area was booked solid so I had no other choice.
If...

We booked this hotel in July, so we would have a place to stay the night before catching a flight out of Calgary, close to the airport. WHAT A MISREPRESENTATION on the site we booked through! Some of the reviews were pretty negative, others not so much. We erred, on the "not so much " side, and now I am... more
we pulled up and the outside looks run down. when we went in the lobby was nice and the staff were friendly but as we went down the hallway and in the elevator it looked almost scary the cieling was low and the rugs were stained and it looked old. when we got into our room the beds and room... more
Booked two weeks at Pointe Inn despite the negative reviews. Had no choice due to the fact there were 7 of us arriving from UK and it being Stampede week didn't help and had to find hotel for all of us within our budget. Very scared with thoughts what have I done? But once we checked in, we realised the... more
Upon arriving in Calgary,my girlfriend and I checked to see if we could get in at the three surounding hotels. Their was nothing available so we googled "The Pointe Inn.Good rates and the rooms looked good in the pictures. So we went there. When I walked in,the manager and two other staff members were arguing. We got a room at... more
We stayed here overnight and we will never come back! Firstly, not so pleasant receptionist very straight and not smiley...feels like she's not accomodating. Secondly, bad odor in the elevator and dark hallways. Rooms? Ok, functioning airconditioner and TV but the washroom is so dirty especially the toilet bowl. Quite far from downtown area.
We stayed for the global oil career expo as this was the only place we could find a room that had NOT been price-gouged ($300 - $700/night for average rooms!!!). After reading the reviews we expected it to be horrible. Although it wasn't great (small and dated) it wasn't as bad as we expected - until the next day that... more
We had to book this hotel because the house we had booked for 2 weeks let us down by not informing us they had sold it! THANKS. It was the only place we could find at short notice for our group of 7, 4 bedrooms were required, being the stampede week didn't help.
After reading the reviews we were a...

With Stampede going on, my usual hotel in Calgary was booked so I paid over $100 for a night here. I knew the shuttle only operated between 0700 and 1900 so I was prepared to spend the money for a cab in the morning, but I had misread the information and found out they only provide drop off, not pick... more
Stayed here before and after a flight out of Calgary, only because it was cheap and close to the airport. Even though they advertised free parking, they tried to make me pay. I had to ARgue and show my email before they would agree. Front desk lady was abrupt and borderline rude. Like she was annoyed she had to speak... more
My friend and I booked this hotel due to the upgrades to the hotel and it was still a reasonable price. The website refers to the renovated rooms as non smoking and the non renovated rooms as the smoking rooms. We called the hotel to confirm that all non smoking rooms had been upgraded and if not that we would... more
I had to stay at this place for one night. From the moment I walked into the lobby I knew it wasn't anything special but what I found was simply gross. I checked in, made sure I had a non smoking room but within 3 minutes of being there I could barely breathe. The smell of smoke, dirt and other... more
Just checked in and it's not my hair in the bathroom sink. Would leave if not so tired. Should have read reviews.
Checked in January 1, 2012 for a month. I had already stayed at others in Dec. and needed a place for a month. Before booking I looked at various rooms at the Pointe. I am picky, used to a house or apartments. I am more than satisfied with the room I have, and the staff and ownership have been very... more
We checked into the hotel at 11:00pm to get a few hours sleep before continuing on to BC. We checked out of the hotel at 11:30pm the same night. The room was disgusting. It looked as though a war had gone on inside as there were multiple holes that had been pathetically patched up. The walls were covered in scuff... more
My family and I were relocating from Manitoba to British Columbia. On the way through Calgary we were left with very few options on where to stay as we were traveling with a pet. We ended up at the Pointe Inn, big mistake. The room was dirty, all those touch points that should be cleaned after every guest. The light... more
My company stuck me at the Pointe because it was literally the only room left in the entire city.
The walls were so thin I was afraid someone would put a knife through it and stab me as I slept. You could here everything going on outside your room. Non-smoking rooms wreek of smoke, the smoke detectors looked like they...

Actually better than it used to be!
I have stayed here off and on for years. It seems to go in cycles. I noticed walking to my room, some of the guest room doors were open, and there were workmen inside. I could see new bathroom fixtures, new furniture and new mattresses as well as televisions.
I actually scored one...

I have had the unfortunate experiance of staying at the slum called "The Pointe". I have put in complaints to both BBB and the health board after encountering a bloody handprint and a pushy drug dealer during my 12 hours at this pit. As another reviewer wrote, "As we left early in the morning, at 4AM, a hotel resident was... more
I booked this hotel the day before the previous, damning review was published. I did look into getting an alternative hotel but the whole of Calgary seemed to be booked up by attendees of various conferences so I stuck with The Pointe Inn and kept my fingers crossed.
My primary goals in booking this hotel were to provide a bed...

On a long business trip in Calgary, I needed a reasonable monthly deal. I wanted reasonable and clean but this place proved old/dirty/poorly kept/but does have police protection almost daily. If you desire being surrounded by truckers & just a general freak show .... its a perfect spot. As an earlier reviewer put it "Don't expect much" ...... Well, you... more
I checked in and should have known this was not a good place to stay when they gave me the TV remote at the front desk; I was informed that I would get $20.00 back when I checked out and returned the remote. The lobby appears clean, however the halls are worst than dirty, and the carpets are so dirty I did not even want to walk on it in shoes! The rooms do not have screens on the windows, no... more
We spent 10 hours here during a stop over in Calgary, and as such were looking for an inexpensive place to stay. It was okay, but the bed was super hard! Now that I've been there I'll go somewhere that costs a bit more next time, but if you want cheap, then this is the place. The staff were friendly... more
