Construction of The Plaza Hotel began in 1926 and was completed in 1928. The hotel was modeled after the Spanish-American style which was popular at the time.
Owned by a group of local businessmen, the hotel was originally named Kamloops Community Hotel. The official opening saw a grand banquet with rooftop dancing by many prominent citizens and dignitaries in attendance including...

Step back into time with charm and quaint. It is a lovely hotel in downtown, lots of additions and a nice place to stay for a night. Friendly and professional staff
My husbands company has their Christmas party here every year and there is a reason we keep coming back! Excellent service at a very reasonable price point. I would, and do!, recommend
A quaint boutique hotel, nice change from the standard chain motel/hotel.
the services was excellent, good coffee, and the breakfast was very nice. Their Sunday brunch was a treat, as well
In my books whether you eat in or take it back to the office, the courtesy is extended the same. Trying to save the enviroment on the take out items is not the answer. To have the au jus spill out everywhere in the plastic wrapping bag is not my idea of a pleasant lunch. No take out containers for the au jus, are you kidding me? Couldnt even locate a cup with a fitted lid? Then when you question it, staff were not very polite. Havn't done takeout since.
The restaurant Rock Salt was nothing really bad, but nothing special to recommend it either.
I stay here often on business and this is hotel is great for the location and price.
We enjoyed our stay in the Plaza Hotel in Kamloops. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast (which was included) was very satisfying (a typical hot breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, yogurt, toast, coffee, tea, etc.). We found the location to be very convenient, just a few blocks from restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and shopping. During our stay, there was a... more
Very nice updates for an older building. Staff friendly and beakfast was great. Disappointed that the pool is at the ymca several blocks away. This was not clear in the write up for this hotel.
The hotel looks nice but due to the age of the building, there's no sound proofing. Our bed shook when anyone would walk or run down the hall. We could hear water running all the time. The view was crummy, saw the fire escape haha when we got here we paid for parking - too much - as the girl at the counter said $8 would cover the day. On the meter we had to pay $30 to cover the day which the... more
Right in downtown Kamloops close to nice eating places. Hotel has been renovated and is clean. Has a full buffet breakfast that is included with your accommodations. Would stay again. The staff was very helpful!
Bed was very small for 2 people and not very clean. Lots of hairs and bits of things in bed, woke up very itchy. Rest of room dated and not very clean. Needed a good dust. It was cheap so you get what you pay for but I wouldn't stay again. Glad we were only there for one night.
The Plaza Hotel is a great place to stay in downtown Kamloops. It is an old hotel that has been completely renovated. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are beautiful and white. The location is very close to the Sandman Center when attending concerts. There is a liquor store next door where you get a discount. We will be back!!!!!
The hotel is located near tot he centre of town. It is a bit tired, the restaurant was closed that evening but that did not matter as we always intended to go out for dinner. Breakfast, which is included, was very ordinary, held in the hotel's ball room. Nothing special about the food, standard limited choice buffet affair.
The lift may be the oldest lift in town but it does not help when...

Included breakfast to die for!
Beds were comfy.
Room recently updated. Very nice.
Rooms are nice, staff is friendly, but breakfast was a fail. It used to be in the nice restaurant next door and was so good. Now it's in a buffet room with awful paper thin bacon and frozen hash brown patties. Was too bad, I was looking forward to the awesome breakfast I had last time. Coffee however - 10/10.
Overall, I really liked the location of this hotel and its' charm. You can tell that it's an older building and some of that shows in the feel of the hotel but that's something that I prefer over a brand new/modern hotel. The staff were fantastic and we had a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was a great start to our day. The only issue is the tiny elevator. We just used the stairs but if... more
This hotel is very old but nicely redone. The spaces are smaller but very quaint. Kamloops downtown is very walkable. Nice restaurants and parks. My only complaint is it was loud Saturday night outside the liquor store. Other than that it was good.
It was close to the doctors office which was the reason for our visit. It was old world style with modern amenities. We will stay there every time we go!
Easy to find. Parking next to the hotel. Within walking distance to a beautiful park and a wide variety of restaurants. Breakfast was very good.
I stayed here as part of a road trip with my mom. Loved the location, comfort of the room, and delicious breakfast. And we appreciated its charm--definitely not a chain hotel.
Overall it was good.
Pros: clean, helpful staff, great price, breakfast was ok had lots of variety, retro rooms
Cons: the location was a little rough, we checked in just after 8pm and since it's downtown, the type of people hanging around we're unnerving. I wouldn't have wanted to check in once it was dark. Also, you have to pay for parking as they don't have their own parking lot.
Hotel is from an old building, and overall it is good. The only minor point would be the bath room which could still be made a better shape. Staff is very friendly, and breakfast OK.
We love to stay st this "vintage" hotel in downtown Kamloops. The downtown offers many great restaurants and good shopping, all within walking distance of the hotel.
We love the old fashioned feel of the hotel and the new and very comfortable beds!
Hotels is quaint; however there is no longer a restaurant on the main floor, which used to serve excellent meals and wine. Breakfast now is the "fast food" buffet and although there is coffee at the buffet, no more coffee or take away cups in the lobby. The breakfast is included in the room price. Good location though and within easy walking distance of other eating places. But don't plan... more
Breakfast is a quick buffet of the powdered eggs and Sysco brand hard boiled eggs. Nothing real. And the restaurant in hotel which was excellent is now closed and opening as a tour Centre. So no on-site restaurant anymore. No coffee in the lobby anymore in the mornings.
After two visits the Plaza Hotel has become our hotel of choice when we travel back to Vancouver from Calgary. It is comfortable, clean and pleasant. The breakfast set up is way better than most other hotels. We njoyed our stay.
Excellent experience. All staff were super friendly, especially the two young men working in the breakfast room on April 23/17. We will be definitely be back!!
This is one of the nicer hotels I've stayed at in Kamloops. The location is good, there are quite a few dining options a short walk away.
Excellent staff, comfortable room. Our room had no bathtub.
Room was small but cozy. Great view of the mountains and bed was comfortable. Hotel is right in downtown so you can walk to the water and restaurants. The hotel is very quaint and well-maintained. It maintains its historical feel without being dusty or outdated. Maid didn't come at all during my two night stay. The fitness and pool facilities are three blocks away at the YMCA which means they... more
We were impressed by this hotel even though it is almost 90 years old. The recent renovations were evident. Our room was large enough to not feel cramped. The wifi was adequate, though could have been faster. The bathroom was quite well appointed.
the staff are friendly and accommodating. The room is clean.
Nice experience. Downtown good. Great restaurant across the steet. Jacobs curlet and noodle place. Downtown Kamloops not the greatest at night
We enjoyed our stay on this past Sat as lobby was inviting and some nice upgrades have been done. Our room was comfortable and quaint. Just one suggestion would be to get some more tv channels and to have more than one bar of soap upon arrival.
The staff was pleasant and apologetic when we arrived as the restaurant and lounge, which we loved in past visits, were closed with no explanation. We found out later that day that there was a labour dispute with management trying to coerce restaurant folks into leaving their union. This was not acceptable. Meanwhile when we entered our room we discovered that the furniture had become quite... more
A few negatives to go with an otherwise excellent stay. Parking/breakfast not included. In-house steakhouse closed; I chose room in part for this convenience. Free upgrade on room and breakfast. Free facilities at local gym (YMCA). Great staff. Continental breakfast better than most
We really liked the ambiance of the building, the history and the modern mixed with the old. Very friendly staff.
I was over charged $470.00
Continental breakfast was extremely limited! Not much to do in the vicinity. The staff were friendly and helpful but the location is not the greatest. The room was small but nicely decorated and very clean!
The first time we stayed here was wonderful, however this last time was meh. The room we got this time was TINY (like hostel tiny), luckily we are both thin so we could fit on the bed and maneuver around the room. The bed we had last time was one of the most comfortable hotel beds ever, this last one, not so much. A minor detail, but the first time we stayed we got water bottles in our room... more
An excellent location in downtown Kamloops. Close to fantastic food. Cute, boutiquey feel. Comfy bed
I was upgraded from a luxury room to a suite for free. A wonderful end to a hard day. Thanks!
Great stay, a very convenient location in the city. About 30 minutes from Harper mountain
Called in a noise complaint at 3:30 am for a loud drunken argument, then the night audit girl called our room after ! Please next time just deal with the complaint and don't wake us up further. (The noise also did not stop )
Great location and friendly service. Little worn down, but good value!
Warm friendly helpful staff. Terrific location. Enjoyed the historical sites wood work , old elevator, and classy furniture.
It'a almost 100 years old but feels like a new boutique hotel. On your doorstep is the most charming part of Kamloops -- seriously! Walk to restaurants and shops. The hotel's restaurant is also tasty.
