The Regent Hotel building - as The Great George was originally named - was erected in 1846 by James H. Downe to be sold as a combined store and dwelling. Merchant Henry Haszard bought the building and in it housed the London House for the next ten years. He sold everything from parasols, corsets, and boas to tea caddies, nails, and groceries. In 1857 Mr. Haszard moved...

We stayed in the Stable House, beautiful 2 story accommodation, everything that you could imagine was provided. I loved that we were withing walking distance of everything - the watefront, a shopping mall, the Culinery School, restaurants, local pubs.
The secret ingredient to this place is the staff - just life family!
If you want to enjoy culture, history and luxury, this is a great choice. At the higher end of the price range, but worth it if you want a unique experience.
My friends and I had stayed here for one night as a last minute arrival, we were treated like Royalty! The Front Desk attendant couldnt do enought for us, as we had arrived late and very hungry, the attendant had offered us a light snack and drinks from the kitchen, which obvisously was closed, but they prepared us a light snack and boy was it good ! The rooms were amazingly comfortable and what a great sleep we all had.. thanks Inns On the Great George..we will be back!
I've just spent 3 nights at the Inns of Great George. I travel a lot and this is without a doubt the nicest place I have ever stayed.
The service is over the top. From the smell of fresh baked cookies in the lobby to an invitation to join the manager for an evening reception to the breakfast in the morning ....
They do so many "little" things that you wouldn't think of ... but they have. And the room (I've actually had smaller apartments in my lifetime) was beautiful. This is not a hotel, it's an experience! Experience it for yourself. You will LOVE it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Great George! Our room was huge and very well appointed. Aside of the charming hotel, it's the staff that makes it excellent! They went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The manager was super friendly and the girls at the front desk were always helpful. They mapped out routes for... more
Stayed in a "Romantic Hideaway Suite" and had a wonderful time! The suite was very large, very clean, and very quiet. The view of St. Dunstan's Church across Great George Street was an added bonus. Fireplace and jacuzzi added to the experience, as did the wonderful bed and spacious room. Honestly, if you're looking to stay in downtown Charlottetown, you... more
I recently had an extended stay at the Great George on business and in the last 3 years it was simply the best accommodations and experience I have ever enjoyed. I can say that I actually came home relaxed from a two week business trip. The staff at the Great George went out of their way to make each and... more
We'd decided to have our mid-winter time off as a "stay-cation", but got the itch for an overnight getaway to Charlottetown PEI. I'd seen an advertisement for the GG in a magazine and we decided to give it a try. I booked a standard traditional room as all the "romantic" rooms were booked, but had the lady who took the... more
Such a lovely hotel and the staff were truly excellent. Our accommodation was excellent and we loved the complimentary coffee and cookies in the afternoon. There is a beautiful church just across the street and the tourist information centre is an easy walk. My only criticism (and it is a minor one) is that breakfast was a little awkward. Rather... more
I only stayed at this lovely hotel for one night, but the property "works" because it has nice elements of both a larger "chain" hotel and the charm of a well-run bed and breakfast (including a beer and wine happy hour, and the local beer is terrific, and a far above average continental breakfast with addictive baked goods). The rooms... more
I decided to treat my wife and I to Sunday breakfast in bed. The breakfast is included in the room rate but room service cost a reasonable $8.00 per person. I was impressed by the promptness of my order and the smartly dressed staff who presented us with a lovely arrangement for our breakfast. At checkout I was told that... more
We've stayed at the Great George for 2 nights as our "Minimoon" and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel!
You walk into the lobby and you discover a world of pleasures. The decoration of the hotel is classic English style and you feel like you are back in the 19 century.
We got the Huges House and loved it!...

The property is huge comprising of 18 renovated houses. The lobby is welcoming and full of antiques and quirky things. There is an exercise room downstairs. Lots of free parking. Thie "Great George" calls itself a hotel, but many would call it an interesting collection of rooms for rent from a central desk in a pleasant building, sort of a B&B that includes a basic breakfast. Earlier this year I arranged to stay here through a travel company, for two nights in a room with a queen size bed for... more
We stayed two nights one at begining of trip and one at the end. The room was open and large we were able to bring in three large suit cases and still had room. The view of the church across the street was great. The hotel staff brought chocolate and ice around in the evening. The breakfast with cinnamon rolls , fruit and other food was great. Staff was pleasant helpful and knowledgeable... more
Love love love this B&B! Wish we were staying for the week. We were given the king suite room 643. I love this room b/c it is clean, the bed is so comfy, nice view & cool loft w/tub & jacuzzi. There is a fireplace and the rate was very reasonable. Breakfast was a nicer than usual continental fare. Had a tiny quiche pies & the muffins rated like cake. Good coffee as well both in the room & at... more
If you want to feel like you live in Charlottetown, stay here. I have nothing to bad to say. The staff is so helpful! I have a friend who stayed at another famous hotel and did not like it. Stay here!
We recently stayed at the main inn of this hotel. We felt very "pampered and special". The staff were so friendly, helpful, and accomodating. The room was lovely. We loved sitting in the main salon, reading and enjoying the refreshments. The breakfast was delicious with perfect service. The location is great - within walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. We will definitely be back and... more
