I wanted to give this 3 stars but the front desk saved this one!
Pros:
- Nice, helpful front desk
- Awesome hot tubs on the roof
- Free morning buffet
- Gorgeous views and hotel/room
- Location is great
Cons:
- Wait staff person at buffet was very rude
- Fire alarm went off at 3am
- Parking was weird and didn't work right
I have never stayed there but have been to the restaurant (next to lobby) for lunch and dinner. This is one of those places that i had seen for years but never discovered until recently.
The restaurant is secluded with a nice upscale interior. Patio is perfect for a date or just hanging out with friends.
The rooftop pool/patio is superb. Perfect for a great night in summer to enjoy the view and...

We had a nice one night stay here with a great view of the city. The room was clean and it was a nice little layout with a small kitchen area and extra couch and TV seating area. We also had the complimentary breakfast which was good and had lots to choose from. If you do stay here and are unfamiliar with the area I highly recommend the valet parking. We first had the trouble of navigating the... more
This hotel was OK when I first walked in the lobby looked a little fancy, good thing the staff that checked me in was very nice she told us that we would stay in a suite on the 10th floor when we got there we LOVED it it had 2 bedrooms plus a pullout sofa then we said "we love this room let's try the breakfast buffet" when we got there THEY SAT US ON THE COUCH and it wasn't a NICE couch it was... more
This place is definitely worth the price.
Pros:
-Extremely friendly, helpful staff (upgraded our room for free when we had a space concern, gave us directions to places around town, etc.)
-Awesome buffet style free breakfast
-Free shuttle to anywhere downtown within a certain radius (shuttle only goes until 4:30, and they won't pick you up, but hey, it's free)

Beautiful hotel!!! We stayed in a suite on the 2nd floor and my kids wanted to move in forever, it was gorgeous!! We visited the pool frequently and had a great time. The restaurant on site is delicious for breakfast and dinner. The hotel isn't really walking distance to anything but it's very easy close to the trolley which will take you to many locations or to the subway which will take you... more
This place was great during our stay. They offered free buffet style breakfast. We got the suite. It was spacious with a balcony. This place uses a key to unlock/lock the door. We also got a welcome pack. I like how they offered slippers in the room. They provided toothbrush and toothpaste when requested. The pool is great for kids. The rooftop contains the jacuzzi and a decent view. There are... more
Well worth every penny! I booked two nights here considering it was blocks away
from a wedding I attended.
The rooms were very clean and were gorgeous. It was standard but pretty elegant. Fancy bathrobes and pillows the
size of my S.O.(re tiny asian lady)? LIfe is too good.
Their front desk staff were stellar. They answered my inquiries and helped us with the rough patches

I love this hotel so much that I compare every other hotel I stay in across North America to it.
The Grand Hotel & Suites offers me the perfect combination of luxury and thrift. I stay in this stunning hotel with great staff and a beautiful pool. I eat from their delicious, huge and fresh free buffet every morning then pick up some groceries at the giant Loblaw's a few blocks away (worth a...

really great place. the free breakfast along with the jacuzzi on the roof were great touches. they project hockey games on the wall next to the hot tubs at night, which was really fun. they also upgraded us to a double room at the last moment, which was awesome! they also had a great gym and pool. overall, the service, amenities, food, and aesthetics were wonderful. Exceptional room. Terrible service. The restaurant was amazing! The rooftop pool was dirty!!!!!!!!!!
Really great hotel. I been here for a couple of years on business and
Pleasure throughout the years. The Grand is definitely ( with the one or two night stay, it is on the expensive side but still way cheaper than other beautiful downtown hotels at about 230$ night at the lowest Deluxe Room) considering everything that is provided, included a massive full sized, choose whatever you want to eat...

Really nice hotel located in downtown toronto. The rooms have a pull out sofa bed and small kitchen area. Very clean and wooden floors are nice.
The indoor pool is great along with the saunas in each bathroom. The best part is the outdoor jacuzzi on the roof. Really nice on a chilly day or at night.
Great hotel. The rooftop hottubs are a great added touch for a late night relax in the summer. The room for the price was good... I got an online deal... But I don't think I would pay full price. The free hot breakfast was amazing and always fresh. The service and room service are great and my overall experience of the hotel was great. If I'm going to Toronto again and see an online deal for... more
This hotel was great. We had no issues booking the hotel. Arrived early and were still accommodated. There was a small issue where our room keys didn't work, but the front desk instantly booked us a different room, apologized and there were no issues after that.
Room accommodations were very clean and tidy. Bed is super comfortable with a nice view. Some people have complained that the local...

Pros: Comfy bed, decent breakfast for hotel standards, pool AND rooftop hot tub, easy access to many restos and attractions, free wifi (but sooo slow)
Cons: Tiny bathroom, area around hotel is a bit shady, tight parking (outside and inside), front desk workers were not very welcoming or friendly, pool felt a little dingy and dark
Overall, it was a good experience but in my opinion, I expected...

We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel. From the moment we arrived, pulling into their parking lot was easy. They also let us leave our SUV their for the few nights, because it would have never fit in the underground parking. They were very accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful. Very modern and clean. Loved the decor. I booked our room on expedia and got a great rate. They also... more
Relatively nice hotel with free wifi and breakfast included. However customer service leaves much to be desired and the surrounding area isn't great. We booked a king non smoking room for our anniversary but when we arrived late Friday night we were given a stinky smoking room. When we asked to change there were no kings available only rooms with two queens. This would have been fine except... more
Top-notch two night stay last week --

- Checked in early with no problem
- Upgraded from a double room to a suite without asking
- Gorgeous views of downtown Toronto
- Given a high floor
- Roof patio
- Underground locked parking -- super safe
- Free shuttle to wherever in the financial district during daytime hours (took this to the CN Tower!)

I luckily stumbled on this hotel using Booking.com (which I HIGHLY recommend!)
We landed a killer deal on this hotel, but it would have been worth the full price rate. Reception staff was very friendly, unassuming and welcoming. The young lady was so nice and helpful.
The room was INSANE! It was HUGE! Having a living room area and kitchenette in a room that isn't a "suite" is a giant bonus. The...

Great hotel at a reasonable price! Awesome bar and great free breakfast. Didn't get to try the hot tubs. If only the bathrooms in the guest rooms matched the luxury in the rest of the hotel.
The other reviewers have covered most of the bases: it's a nice hotel, and the location is good, particularly for theatre/concert-goers. I stumbled upon it years ago, and just seem to go back to it whenever I visit Toronto. We always have a good time. It's very easy to get to driving--just hop off the DonValley Parkway at Richmond. The room layouts are nice; the pools' designs are quite fun;... more
My partner and I stayed in the Grand while on vacation from Vancouver. We booked based on many good reviews and the included amenities. It turns out that this was an excellent choice. I don't have enough positive things to say about this hotel. My husband and I drove to Toronto and arrived around 10p.m. The original hotel that we were booked at, was not able to accommodate us, even though we had a reservation. We spent hours on the phone and just driving around Downtown Toronto looking for a room. The Grand was the only hotel that could accommodate us at 3:00 am. They only... more
I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because it is still definitely a nice hotel and I'd give it 4 stars if it were just presenting itself as a nice place to stay, but the general attitude of the staff and the large number of small inconveniences are really inexcusable in a place that's trying to sell itself as a luxury hotel. Overall conclusion: I wouldn't pay that price if I just want a nice place... more
This hotel was a great find for us in Toronto. Traditionally, we would've stick to major SPG chain hotels but I wanted to find a place near city center that offered free wifi so I didn't have to use roaming data on my phone.

Huge free breakfast buffet with tons of options. I was carb-loading an average of 6500 calories per breakfast... and let me tell you, I tasted every one of them.

Stayed here for a full 7 days....and what a great experience. The level of service this hotel is top notch. From the front door men, front desk and the restaurant, they do it right.
The rooms were huge, all suite style rooms, can't go wrong with that! I think the only opportunity in the entire hotel is the small TVs and no real HD channels. Unexpected to not have those but doesn't waiver on...

Don't stay here!!! Got the Jr 2 bedroom suite. Upon returning to the hotel after a night on the town the hotel "supervisor" harassed us and tormented us. He was rude and degrading and had no customer service skills. Will not stay here again.
Unique Quality: None! Staff ruined experience!!
DON'T STAY HERE!! Rented the 2 bedroom JR Suite - upon returning to the hotel from a nice dinner out, we were greeted by security and the hotel "supervisor"(Matt) claiming that we were over capacity for our room. We were super early for our check-in but the staff was kind enough to lend us the "public" key to the rooftop where we lounged away a couple of hours in the last bit of warm sunshine available. In 2002, we lived at The Grand Hotel and Suites for 5 months. The hotel did accommodate us by converting a second bedroom in our suite into a dressing room, where we stored our clothing, albeit on clothing racks; intimates in armoires.

On first appearance, The Grand seemed like a decent hotel for a colleague and I to stay during a one week business trip to our Toronto office. Really great hotel, though it's in Toronto. I just loved the place I stayed at in Toronto I really didn't want to leave.
While visiting Toronto this past weekend, my boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand. Such a nice hotel! They really impressed me with the service, though.
We took a red-eye flight into town so we arrived at the hotel around 7am. All we wanted to do was sleep for a few hours before having to do anything. Amazingly, they let us go ahead and check in that early! I think we must have gotten lucky...

Fantastic value - five-star amenities all around. You've read about the two-story saltwater pool by now. You probably know about the roof hot tubs and terrace. Those are nice for sure. Would DEFINITELY stay here again.
The location is not ideal mind you but the service, cleanliness, friendliness, helpfulness, staff and value was awesome. And there is a great thai restaurant just next door.
Attending a conference here and stayed overnight. Friendly staff, rooms are cozy and modern with hardwood floors. Bathroom has a relaxing showerhead. Beds are a little hard for my liking. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner. All were delicious... seems like deserts are home made or atleast have a pastry chef. Overall, great stay and would recommend.
One of my favourite downtown hotels. Huge suites with very comfortable furnishings. Prices are great as well.
Excellent.
A little on the gilded side for styling but all in all a pretty top shelf place.
Waaaayy better than the Strathcona which was the disaster we stayed in before.
The staff is excellent and the rooms well appointed.

The swimming pool at the Grand Hotel really is something worthwhile! The photo from their brochure shows its features much better than anything that I could have taken!
Unique Quality: This two-storey neo-classical pool has hand painted murals of the Garden of Versailles surrounding it.
Now I have stayed in a number of hotels all over the world - yet the Grand really impressed me with its elegance! The decor of the hotel was all first class - marble and brass everywhere!
