Experience The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Nestled between the mountains and the sea, this Vancouver hotel boasts luxurious guest rooms, stylish event space and fine dining in the heart of the city.
It's wonderful to have such a historic institution as the old "Hotel Vancouver" but it's looking a little tired in some of the rooms and it's horrendously expensive. Very well located though.
This hotel used to be loved. I would totally stay away from it. The shower was icecold, the bed soft, and the rates ridiclous in this time of recession. Plus they have a fur store in the lobby seliing dead rabbits! STAY AWAY! Lost in another world, another time.
There's been a grand château-style hotel on this spot since 1888, when the Canadian Pacific Railway opened the first Hotel Vancouver. The hotel's current incarnation, with its peaked copper roof, opened in 1939 for the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and is one of the city's most striking landmarks. The 556 rooms and suites are decorated with old-school elegance: lots of... more
Opened by the Queen in 1939 and still grand and glittering through incarnations and generations, the Hotel Vancouver is nothing short of a talisman in the skyline. Steeped in tradition, from the elegant port-coch è re entrance to formal high tea served in the richly paneled 900 West lobby lounge amid the tinkling of grand piano, swish Fairmont service fits the near-hallowed halls of this... more
This most beautiful and stylish hotel room I have ever stayed in. And the rest of the hotel looked to be equally great. We arrived around 8 in the evening, and guests were sitting around a stove-like thing in front of the hotel, or playing games on the lawn, or chatting in the huge, beautiful lounge. It felt like I was in seaside resort around 1920. One thing I hate is the constant hum of the... more
Staff (Jane) is very rude, nasty and unprofessional. She certainly gave me a memorable impression of the Fairmont Waterfron - HORRIBLE. I am still traumatized by this negative experience.
The rooms are nicely decorated but a bit small. Convenient location: Right next to cruise terminal and rather close to Stanley Park.
My wife and I stayed here on 2 occasions recently on our way to and from another destination in northern BC - both times on the "Fairmont Gold" floor. The staff at the private concierge (Yuki and Wilson in particular) were spectacular and in my opinion offered exceptional service. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. On this floor you have access to the private lounge which serves... more
The room was nice. The staff were friendly. The view was amazing! My only complaint is the lack of free internet service. I don't understand these big hotels that charge $16+/day for internet. I can buy coffee at McDonald's and get free Wi-Fi, but I don't even get so much as an hour of internet access with a $200 hotel room.
I have never eaten anything else there so I can't comment. We often stay at the hotel so Heron's is a place of choice late in the evening when you want to listen to some nice jazz, have a drink or a cup of coffee with a good desset .
Overpriced, overrated. Spent three nights there for a conference. For a place that charges such a ridiculous rate let's see what you get: Valet or self-parking, but the elevators in the parking garage don't give you much info as to how to get back to street level. I spent 20 minutes going up and down with arms full of bags after a 10 hour drive--turned out one of the two elevators doesn't go to... more
Solid, old school hotel with modern amenities. Rooms were plush with old world style and we very much enjoyed the live jazz in the bar. Great location, too.
It's unfortunate, but the quality of food here doesn't match the image associated with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Meats are consistently of average quality and the salad bar is also not outstanding. The one saving grace is their dessert bar though it can be inconsistent.
I am writing this from bed after my first night of 3 here. I booked a junior suite with king bed 6 weeks ago for a special New Years trip to Vancouver and signed up with their presidents club membership as well. Paid non-refundable cost of room up front to save a few bucks as I knew we would definitely go. On arrival they gave us a junior suite with queen bed, obviously hoping we wouldnt... more
Landmark building, very good location, rooms are large, but some could use a little update for the calibure of Hotel this is. Overall, great place, and I will visit it again for sure! Thanks!
I have a pretty good stay at this hotel! I didn't find the staff was rude at all. The view from my room was great! I also LOVE Vancouver! What a beautiful city!!
The help with information on the city . I have been there many times, and always receive a friendly welcome.Beautiful rooms and great service. Each room offers a complimentary in-room coffee and tea service.strongly recommended!!!
Food was great but the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. It is less of a fine dining restaurant and more of a retro cafe/diner with the decor. The service is excellent.
This is still one of the best places to stay in Vancouver. It is a landmark that is always impressive in both service and location.
nice cozy part of downtown. nice beds. helpful staff. could be closer to the water.
Merci encore !! Les suisses Damien et Fanny
I have spent over 10 nights at this location. This may not be the most grandiose of the Fairmont properties. However, you can't beat the shopping and location of the hotel. I always look forward to my stays there.
Several times a year I fly into Vancouver and stay at various top Hotels, including the Waterfront Fairmont and Fairmont (Hotel Vancouver) Hyatt ,Four Seasons and Sutton. The Fairmont staff are my favorite, although all of the hotels I've stayed at the service is fantastic, and are very helpful when asked about a quick Laundry servce that I could have my clothes picked up and delivered back the... more
Showed up at midnight to check into guaranteed room. Was told that they were "overbooked" and invited to move to another hotel. Watch another guest check out of his room - asked for that one. Was told that cleaning staff were not available. Asked Manager to clean room herself. Was told that she was "not authorized" to do that. Worst customer relations I have ever been subjected to. Avoid at all... more
Absolutely amazing staff went WAY out of their way at 3:30 in the morning for me and saved my wedding weekend from being a painful disaster. My eternal gratitude! THANKS!!!
My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel after going to a concert at Pacific Coloseum. The atmosphere was proffesional and classy, rooms were traditional and clean. I would definately recomend this hotel to family and friends.
This was my first trip to Vancouver with my husband for a long weekend getaway. I loved this place. WE joined the Presidents club and ate on the 9th floor everyday for breakfast. Fabulous. Room and beds were great. The bathroom was small like my grandma's in her old NY Apt but I didnt care. Lyndon was fabulous on the piano in the lobby bar. What a wonderful time we had each night listening to... more
Great hotel, love the floor concierge with the food on offer. Restaurant not that great. Central location to everything in downtown Vancouver. Doorman remembered me from my last visit, which was impressive.
Great helpful staff. Perfect location. A little disappointed in the in-room dining as we called down for service and were told that it would be a 90-minute wait. We decided to go to the bar in person and order and attempted to carry it back to our room when we were told we'd have to be escorted thru the public areas of the hotel.

Weekend getaway to enjoy the sights and tastes of Vancouver
We stayed two days in the gold level rooms. Excellent service and accommodations. We really felt pampered the entire time we were there. I highly recommend the Gold level rooms since it comes with a wonderful breakfast and free amenities like wifi. Close to lots of public transportation.
to stay in Vancouver. It is a landmark that is always impressive in both service and location.

nasty and unprofessional. She certainly gave me a memorable impression of the Fairmont Waterfron - HORRIBLE. I am still traumatized by this negative experience.
A beautiful grand hotel, with great customer service. Fabulous for a stay in downtown Vancouver, close to everything. The restaurants and bars on site were a real plus. Will be sure to stay there again for the the luxury hotel experience.
I felt very comfortable here. The room was nice, and the location was great for me. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. For example, I went out for a run at some point, and I'm sure I looked tired and disheveled when I returned (and soaked from the rain) and instead of getting weird looks, one of the staff offered me a complimentary bottled water. It was a very nice touch.
It was extremely noisy and we didn't get a decent night's sleep during any of the five nights that we stayed there! Became a bit of a joke in the end.
The new, now old, auto debit mini bars put an end to my esteem for this hotel. Otherwise, very welcoming all around and very good lunch buffet in the restaurant downstairs.
First class conference, setup and food. Great rooms, convenient location. Extremely helpful and friendly staff going out of their way to help. Beds are the MOST comfortable. great pool and hot tub.
staff friendly, rooms very quiet and clean and great for sleeping and in a great location
Overall it was a pleasant place, but it wasn't as grand as I was expecting at the prices they were charging, felt like an old hotel with not a whole lot of personality. If I were to stay in a Vancouver hotel again I would probably go someplace newer and smaller. The room was cold and the thermostat limited how high you could push the temperature. Water pressure was pretty bad at times,... more
Service was excellent. Very grand landmark hotel. Great shopping and restaurants all around. Great sushi restaurant across the street, short walk to Robson St. What more can you ask for? Great value for money. Large rooms and great facilities. P.S. Be careful of the bottled water and stuff animal, it is all sensored and once it is moved the item gets charged to your room... more
Good hotel, really liked my stay, happy with everything Vince Kyle
Big room, great staff, outrageously fast internet, and two dogs in the lobby that you can borrow. One of the best hotel experiences I've had. The housekeeping staff does a great job; everything is perfect.
My husband and I were really looking forward to experiencing the old world charm and elegance of the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel but was dismayed to find our room was not ready even though we arrived at the hotel at 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. After receiving complimentary hotel bar drink tickets and finding a delightful place in the area for an early dinner we finally checked into our room. ... more
The Fairmont is always first class and Vancouver's Fairmont is definitely up there with the best. I love the city and the hotel's ambiance is icing on the cake. You'll love it!
The Fairmont Hotel is located in a prime location close to all the shops and within walking distance. We were able to check-in early to our room but when we walked into the room I was very dissatisfied. The rooms are very outdated, the water pressure of the shower was not good, and last but not least someone forgot to flush the toilet & clean it. For the amount of money we spent I would expect... more
The Fairmont is really a wonderful and well presented hotel. And Vancouver one our favorite places to hang out in. This was our 3rd stay and a favorite during the Xmass season. Far enough away from home to make it feel like a vacation along with a mild taste of luxury. The room, bed (as comfortable as our own) and amenities are some of the nicest we've enjoyed any where. Nice swimming pool and... more
very convenient and very good location !!! nice building !
The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a historic old (1939) CP railroad hotel. The location is fantastic for walking around beautiful downtown Vancouver. While rooms vary in size and view or lack of a good view. All however, are tastefully decorated with quality furnishing and bath products. Service is professional and polite. Very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
With construction and all the one ways and no left turns it was difficult to get to the correct entrance to get the car in to valet. The hotel staff was not very friendly or that helpful including the valet person. The person that brought the car to us when we left was the only one nice and asked if we needed directions on where we were going. If I ever go back to Vancouver I would... more
The fairmount vacation was in an excellent location-close to shops and restaurants. It was a 30 minute walk to Stanley Park. It had a very nice fitness club and pool. The kids loved walking the golden retriever at the hotel. They enjoyed complimentary milk and cookies.
The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is located right in the center of Vancouver, which is is handy for either business or vacational purposes. The fact that it's basically a landmark in downtown Vancouver makes it a little bit of a novelty to stay there as well. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have include everything you'd expect. The only dissappointment we had were late night options for... more
Fairmont is known for its top notch accommodations and the Hotel Vancouver did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had comfortable beds. I found it a little noisy-you... more
