A trio of Vancouver's bar stars pooled their talents to open this beautiful room. With a bird's-eye view of Maple Tree Square, this historic space boasts a stylish ease, a striking glass chandelier offsetting the well-worn charm of exposed brick walls. The impressive yet modestly priced cocktail list draws its inspiration from the Prohibition era, offering a modern take on traditional drinks. A... more
Tight little menu of Asian-inspired sharing plates includes duck, chicken and short rib subs, pickled beet and egg with panko and Japanese mayo and fan fave Sloping Hills pork gyoza (dipped in Japanese mayo for extra decadence). Well-priced beers, but it's craft cocktails like the Bicycletta and the Penicillin everyone's talking about. Lovingly prepared in antique glassware, the celebration of... more
The combined genius of Mark Brand (Boneta), Josh Pape (Chambar), and Sophie Taverner (Cascade) brings a new cocktail lounge to Gastown’s parched alleys. Asian-inspired snacks (do try their tasty gyoza) are paired up by a cocktail list divided into “proper,” “boozy,” and “delicate” with original concoctions and nods to Prohibition-era classics Crowd A who’s-who of Gastown artists, fashionistas,... more
Ask for Thor. Best bar tender we found. Craft cocktails and he will tell you where else to go!!!!! We loved the service and the Brazilian girl with the skirllex haircut will treat you right!!
Celiacs beware! I've just had the worst experience of my celiac life (13years). After choosing this restaurant because it said gluten-free friendly online, I asked the server what options were indeed g-f. I TOLD HER I HAD CELIACS. My meal actually tasted really good… too good! So I stopped eating. I asked her to double check with the kitchen and... more
if you want the best bartender's in town, this is it. friendly, always a smile on their face, and boy can they make a mean drink. excellent atmposhere, great for late nights.
We were a group of 8 women out to celebrate a birthday. Had tried another establishment and had gotten poor customer service when one in our group said "let's try The Diamond, I hear they make fantastic cocktails! " so up the stairs we went, on a Saturday night about 9pm.The place was packed and we thought , oh no... more
Hands down Vancouver's best cocktails. Enticing and extensive menu of drinks to suit any taste! They are slightly pricier than your average drink in BC but totally worth it! Food was decent too, but I wouldn't go there just for that. Ambience was great and the server's were flirty and fun! A must try for drinks!
Loved it here - we didn't eat but drank many of their cocktails. Be warned they sneak up in you and your'e a little drunk before you realise. Staff were great, very friendly and able to explain the vast selection to you with ease. Crowd are friendly and there is a real nice buzz about the place.
You have to...

Great night views of Gastown and the buzz of the street life from a second story vantage point - a unique venue. This place has everything for a great night out.
This venue used to be The Savoy music venue back in the 80's so I visited here to see an old relic from my past! This used to be...

We had eaten near by and decides to visit for a drink . From the street you couldn't see much but when we got upstairs the cool loft conversion style decor looked great. We ordered cocktails and mine was delicious . Unfortunately my husband got wrong one but bar man changed without charge and then continued to recommend other tipples.... more
We just wanted casual drinks, to stand at the bar and talk. This place is registered as a restaurant so legally you can only sit at a table (which the service stewardess had no problem in telling us rudely) Fine for if you want a romantic evening over food, but certainly not the right atmosphere for a catch up over... more
I think this second floor restaurant has a great vibe about it; low lighting, brick walls and large windows. If you can, get a window table over looking Maple Tree Square. They are known for their extensive (and delicious) cocktail menu. The modern pub style food is meant to be shared and was quite tasty. We enjoyed Chorizo from Save-on-Meats,... more
A friend said he got a recommendation on this bar. Not easy to locate since it is on the second floor of the building. After climbing the stairs, we entered a large open room with tables set up for dinner service at normal height and cocktails at bar height. They had a menu of specialty cocktails that ranged from the... more
Great place in Gastown either to have a cocktail before dinner or to have a light meal in. Really friendly people. We made a mistake in ordering a cocktail which wasn’t suitable. Totally our fault but they were brilliant about it, replaced it free of charge and didn’t make us feel at all awkward about it. “We just want you... more
I've been here a few times now. The first time I was here I was quite surprised that a place like this even existed in Vancouver and that I hadn't been yet! Like everyone else has said, the atmosphere is great, lighting is low but perfect, and the service has always been prompt (even though it gets super busy!). My... more
My wife and I were in Vancouver as part of our honeymoon. We had been up and down the Gastown area trying to find a bar with empty seats so we could order a few drinks. It was a Saturday night and we weren't having any luck. That soon changed when the hostess at the Chill Winston across the street... more
Headed to this bar with my gang of girl friends for pre-dinner drinks. We all fell in love with the place and reluctantly left to eat at our dinner reservations elsewhere as we wished to stay at the Diamond.
We got there early, around 4:30/ 5:00 pm. We had the place to ourselves and slowly we watched as the Saturday...

Well designed cocktails with traditional and modern flavors. Knowledgable waitress helped with my order- when I was overwhelmed with the drink menu, she asked what was my favorite liquor and from there suggested a yummy concoction. Good fun drinks, snacks and staff.
I really enjoyed the decor in this place. The munchies were delicious. The service was a tad slow, but thats understandable for how packed the place was.
After many visits to this great spot, I feel compelled to write a review as it never disappoints. I love their cocktail menu, and they have a perfect selection of food to satisfy the patron who wants to nibble or fill their bellies with delicious food. Also, ther servers and bartenders are great, never gushing over the table too much,... more
We were just here for cocktails, and arrived early in the evening. Very nice decor in the dining room. Cocktails were good, but the service was just ok. Started out well enough, but got slower the longer we stayed, and a little pretentious. They were having trouble with the computer when we tried to pay with a credit card, and... more
My friends and I went to The Diamond for a gathering. Initially, we had a great time, however, despite a reservation, our table was unavailable. Drinks arrived promptly, however, we were told that we were making too much noise. I found this unbelievable considering that we were not screaming across a long table or acting inappropriately (We are not 21... more
I really wanted to like the diamond but found the service a bit pretentious and unfriendly. The food was alright, but not worth the price. There are much better places to eat and enjoy your time in gastown.
We went here on a rainy Saturday nite around 7:30pm and no problem getting a table or sitting at the bar which we where we wanted to sit. These guys know their drinks! The bartender who waited on us knew his stuff - I ordered a Donetella which sounded appealing -it is made with sparkling wine, lemon etc as I... more
Awesome drinks, a bit pricey, and it took us about 30 minutes to get a table, but I think it was totally worth it. Really enjoyed the drinks including fine Cuban rum. :-)
We arrived early and enjoyed the bar almost to ourselves. Bartenders take great pride in their work and cocktails show it. Big ice cubes to avoid watering down the drinks. Carefully stirred more often than shaken. Bensonhurst (think that was the name) cocktail was perfect --- nice variation on a Manhattan. Served in mismatched almost antique glasses. Fits the speakeasy... more
If you and your mates or you and the lady are out on the town, this place is a must. Scenic scene overlooking historic gastown with the most hip urban cocktail lounge in town. They make the best drinks around and the service and pride in a well poured drink make this place a must on the night out tour
We didn't try the food, but loved the cocktails. Mention the "Elk Room". It's their 'secret' room in the back. It's a small, narrow, dark room, but the perfect spot for a vintage cocktail. It's doubly relaxing because they don't allow cell phones or texting.
Sit up at the bar and ask the bartender to creat something for you. My...

Found this place accidentally through Yelp as it was conveniently located near where I was standing at the time. Great discovery. Very fun atmosphere and good food.
What a great little cocktail parlour in the heart of Gastown. It's on the 2nd floor overlooking Maple Tree Square. The are known for their cocktails and share plates.
This isn't a big sit down, full dinner place.....just a small menu of share items. We were going to have a cocktail and a few plates and then head somewhere for...

The service is excellent. Young staff but very professional. No rushing you from your table if you're nursing one of their many interesting drinks. Somewhat of a cocktail destination I understand. Music is excellent. Enough depth and groove to be of interest, loud enough to hear, but restrained enough volume-wise such that conversation is possible and not strained. And the... more
I love it when the drink list is longer than the food list. I thought that only happens in my house!
The Diamond is a little hidden. We ended up walking driving by twice and couldn't find it. When you find it, ... it looks like you're entering some secret upstairs chamber. The brick wall and dark wood is very...

Owned by the same culinary superstars that run the highly acclaimed Boneta's, The Diamond is a Gastown restaurant-lounge that has people buzzing. Big windows fill the clean, airy space with natural light and offer a view of the newly revamped Maple Tree Square. The real draw, though, is the cocktails, prepared by some of the best mixologists in the city and carefully devised to go with the menu... more
