With its signature garden courtyard and retro West Coast style, the Burrard is situated in one of downtown Vancouver's best locations - just minutes from Granville Street, Davie Street, Robson Street, Yaletown, Granville Island and the city's breathtaking 22-kilometre seawall. Having recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation, the Burrard's rooms have been completely...

A hip, retro West Coast hotel concept unlike anything else in the city, the Burrard is situated in central downtown Vancouver - within walking distance from everything this city has to offer
Echoing the successful transformation of East Vancouver's The Waldorf Hotel, the Burrard follows suit by hinging its vibe of a 1956 motor inn into a hip hotel. The difference is the Burrard is right downtown, making it wonderfully convenient to clubs on Granville Street and dining in the West End. Besides replanting the spectacular inner courtyard that all the motel-like units face, a gutting... more
It was well located and the staff were friendly and helpful. It had a safe, which was a bonus. Good value for money. Comfortable bed and nice hot shower. Negatives - at the front it's noisy. There was an airconditioner which worked well to cool the room down but was quite noisy - however putting it on continuous fan did mask the outside noises. Overall a good place to stay. Nice and... more
I totally loved this place. The service here is top-notch. The rooms are really clean and the mini-sink was adorable. The location is fairly central. The bikes they lend out are pretty awesome - we used them to bike all the way to and through Stanley Park. I would highly recommend this place!
The rave reviews are correct! The Burrard is a hidden gem in the heart of Vancouver. It's hip, affordable, charmingly retro-chic and the staff is exceptionally warm. Start your mornings with Container Coffee down by the lobby or one of the espresso machines in your room (or both). There are free bikes for rent and a jungle greenspace in the courtyard. Highly, highly recommended for the... more
I booked this on the basis of their web info and a few reviews and I'm so glad I did! The day front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - a particular thanks to Maria for suggestions for family outings.
I was a bit nervous about the size of the rooms, not knowing what to expect of 50s era hotel design, but no worries there. The double room was just the right size for our family of...

Five of us shared one room. There were two full beds plus one cot. It was still pretty roomy even with the cot in the middle on the room. The staff was excellent. They gave us extra towels (bath, hand, & face). We didn't ask for maid service during our stay, but when we needed toilet paper, it came within 5 minutes. One of the staff members (Maria) even said hi to us when we ran into her on the... more
The Burrard is a totally hip, totally affordable option when looking for a hotel in Vancouver. It kind of looks like it used to be an old hotel (motel, Holiday Inn, say what?!) that they put some real love into with an upgrade.
All the rooms have exterior doors that are in an inner square surrounding a parking area that has the loveliest of green spaces on it's roof. The rooms are kind of...

Very well located. Simple but comfy rooms. Nice hotel overall for a weekend in Vancouver. There is so much to see outside that you won't spend much time in its accommodations.
Let me start with the fact that I really liked this hotel. The decor is thoughtfully put together AND the signage is clever. This is huge. I want hotels with character and personality, which this one definitely has. They clearly hired or have some great designers/writers.
The only reason this is not a 5 star is because the hot water broke at night, and my husband had to take a cold shower to...

I walked into the burrard and felt like I had stepped back in time, in the best way. Cute 60's vibe, an amazing garden in the atrium, nespresso in the rooms, and a super friendly staff made my stay just perfect.
The rooms are on the small side, and have windows to open for fresh air, and a dyson fan which was nice and fairly quiet.
The location was perfect for walking to see many Vancouver...

This place is great! I can't think of what's not like about the place: the customer service, the amenities (woo, loaner bikes!), the location, the price, etc. Everything is done exceptionally well. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and if I were back in downtown Vancouver, I would absolutely stay here.
The hotel is great! Fun, welcoming, quiet and responsive to any questions or requests. The location is excellent ! I highly recommend it
Nice basic clean hotel. Close to Burrard Bridge and Kits (walking distance). Nice staff, free wifi, decent bed. Definitely will stay there again.
What a great oasis in the heart of it all. The rooms are super chic with very comfy beds, sleek bathrooms a little sitting area and flat screen tv and nesspresso coffee maker at your command. The Burrard has taken motor hotel to cool new heights with just the right amount of mid century modern inspired design and comfort.
The hotel is amazing, it's totally different from the inside than it looks from the outside... In a good way. Right at downtown, walking distance from all the shopping and dining facilities. Very friendly staff.
A fun place to stay. So much humour evident in the signage and retro furniture. Staff friendly and obviously take a great deal of pride in their hotel. Bikes and umbrellas ready to borrow at no extra charge. Well located to the downtown core Room very clean, comfortable bed. If you are looking for luxury don't stay here, if you are looking for a character hotel this is for you.
I love this place! My boyfriend and I escaped to BC for a couple days for a getaway and we couldn't have been more pleased with The Burrard! The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgable and supportive of all our needs! The coffee machine was incredibly convenient,... more
Nice hotel close to all amenities. Good deal during the month of November. Room was a bit too warm
Stayed here for one night during a work trip after missing my flight because of the weather. Great downtown location within walking distance of restaurants. Room was small but works...think of poorman's Aloft. Nice things the hotel had: nepresso machine in the room, free bottle water, dyson fan, good price. Things I didn't like: Front desk needs improvement. They ran out of parking spaces and... more
Great location, comfortable room, great value. Best price and better service than much more expensive hotels.
The Burrard was a wonderful surprise! A little gem hidden in the city, this hotel has done an amazing job making its 1950's art deco vibe into a modern oasis that is kitchy without being tacky. My room was warm and cozy when I arrived, the bed and pillows were really comfortable, and the decor was perfect. You can't beat the location, which is right at Burrard and Davie and the value for one... more
I only stayed here for one night, and that would have been the most I would have wanted to stay. First of all, the front desk staff were absolutely fabulous! We loved this place. What made it great was the proximity to everything great in Vancouver. Burrard street is like the main shopping, dining and entertaining area in Vancouver. A hospital is right across the street, never know when you might... more
The burrard is awesome. The price was affordable and exceeded my expectations. Great rooms and extremely comfortable. The renos are excellent and the rooms are extremely comfortable. I would stay here again.:)))
The hotel looks very bland and disappears into the streets cape. However, once inside, the unique character appears. A central courtyard open to the sky feels tropical. My room was very mid-century-modern, compact but complete. My immediate reaction was A funky version of Hotel California. I appreciated the green ethic shown in the room.
centrally located but an uphill walk with luggage from skytrain! Just overnight before going cruising but a good sleep
Stayed at hotel to see our friends perform at The Railway Club for our 20th Anniversary. Stayed for two nights, very peaceful; hard to believe the St Paul's Emergency is practically across the street and we didn't hear a thing! Hotel offers complimentary bikes for the guests. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel.
Great hotel in the middle of vancouver. Near everything. Great staff, simple clean rooms. Shower is a bit weak and room temperature varies from freezing to boiling, but overall its a great place to stay. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Coffee shop in lobby is great as well. Won't get a better place for this price.
Check I was easy . Staff were polite and helpful, parking was easy, but expensive ( the security and convenience were worth the extra cost). The room was clean but small. And air conditioner would've been good. Nicely located was shopping Close by. I would recommend this hotel as of what I lack in the room size it made up for in design.
We stayed for two nights an was very happy with everything this hotel has including the location. Was very close within walking distance to down town. Would stay again
Nice place, good staffs, location is good, can walk to Stanley park and Canada place. I lost my room card, when I check out, the staff said "that's ok" and let me go!
Awesome central location, friendly staff and easy to grab breakfast at the cafe downstairs
I found the Burrard good value. It was clean, comfortable and stylish in a great location for seeing Vancouver: I'd definitely stay there again. The only negative was occassional traffic related noise which woke me a couple of times (our room looked onto Burrard Street).
Cute hotel in a easy area of Vancouver. I give it less stars as they charge you $20 plus tax which is like 25% !! so it comes to $25 for parking. I hate places that charge you for parking even though you paid for a hotel room there! I feel like this is cheap and cheeky! My window was broken and wouldn't close so my room was freezing, I called someone up and they got it to shut but it wasn't... more
I booked two rooms in this hotel for, one for the model and one for the Makeup artist who came to town to work on a photoshoot. Good location. Central for downtown activities. Rooms a bit small though but nice and retro.
Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und ideal für Sightseeing.
Nice staff, great location. Clean. Shortcomings: stuffy as windows have limited play and bed wY too soft for my taste. That said, I would go back.
Clean, close to all ammenities, helpful staff. Made our quick over night post red-eye a pleasant experience.
Perfect for a short stay, if you have business in Vancouver, close to the Granville island water taxi, lots of restaurants in area
Staff there very helpfull and very pleasant. Very good location, walking distance of everything, safe neiborhood. Room was small but clean. Would recomand this hotel and would stay there again.
Great staff and location. James at the front was very helpful as were the other chaps. Room was clean, a bit small, but a good price. My better half booked it through a travel site so I was happy as if anyhinf was bad I would not get blamed.
Nothing was odd aside from the no AC unit , but there was a fan. Good thing we were in Vancouver and not today in LA as it is 109 today in the valley.
used the 'hop and go' cars which are very handy takes you around the whole of Vancouver covering the places of interest. Food is good on Robson Street, particularly the seafood at Fortes. Weather was clear and around 20C
Spent two nights at the Burrard with my toddler. Room was comfortable, very clean. Bathroom was very nicely remodelled, bed very comfy. Hotel has a nice quirky/funky vibe. Happy hour at the adjacent café is a great deal if you're in need of a pint of beer or glass of wine after your travels. Gentleman working the front desk was very accommodating and professional. Härligt litet tema hotell i centrala Vancouver. Bra och trevligt bemötande i receptionen. Snygga och rena rum med gratis samtal i Nordamerika och gratis wifi (mycket snabbt bredband!). This boutique mid-century inspired spot is the perfect location for Vancouver exploration. The rooms are perfectly sized and comfortable and courtyard is a jungle oasis.
The staff were all super friendly and provided so many helpful hints.
They have 12 bikes on hand for guest to check out and explore the city. However, get down to the bike rack early because the bikes go quickly.
Eenvoudig, maar prima hotel in downtown Vancouver. Bij een volgend bezoek aan de stad zou ik zeker weer hier een kamer boeken. Aanrader dus.
If you have a good and deep sleep you won't have any problem. Unfortunately, I could hear any single ambulance arriving to the hospital which is in front of the hotel.
Exceptional front desk staff, very good location, free bike rentals, in room Nespresso, super comfy beds. Would recommend to all of my friends and stay again.
Staff were very friendly, room was very comfortable and seemed newly renovated. One criticism would be the lighting in the room - not easy to apply make up. Surrounding neighbourhood was not great but Vancouver is so small that it doesn't really matter as it is easy to walk everywhere - this would not put me off staying at this hotel.
Overall I was very pleased with the comfort of the bed & linens, size of the room, friendly and helpful front desk staff, reliable wifi and hotel location. I appreciated the adjacent coffee shop. However, the room was very hot and stuffy despite in room fan/air conditioner. The room was very clean upon arrival, but my biggest complaint was that I was there for 4 nights and it was only on the... more
Staff was friendly and the room was clean. Location was a close walk to gas town where there were plenty of decent restaurants.
We were very disappointed with the breakfast. It was only a sandwich and a coffee from next door café. The carpets in the corridors looks very old. The location is good. The hotel staff friendly and helpful.
literally over the road from the hospital, forgot to put that in the ad didnt they, i guess if you do anything drastic cause you cant sleep you dont have far to travel for medical help
A great little place with helpful and friendly staff. Hope to try out their bikes next time I'm in town!
We enjoyed our stay, the staff is pleasant, helpful and efficient. The location is perfect for downtown outings or biking to Granville island and Sanley Park. We enjoyed the courtyard green space with a glass of wine. For us the only negative was that there was no air conditioning and the portable room coolers didn't knock down the temperature.
Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Small rooms, very small bathrooms. Could not use the soap & shampoo dispenser, they were very hard to squeeze and to use. After telling the front desk, they gave us small bottles. We were told we would have a free coffee maker, but the machine would only make less than half a cup for each use.
Just stayed here for 4 days.
After booking the Hotel online i ve received an email from the staff. asking if there is an help needed. That was already a great start. i replied by asking for directions from the airport.
In an immediate reply they answered with all possibilities in all details. Fantastic! Finally I followed their recommendations and took the Skytrain.

I picked this hotel while attending a conference and paid the price of the distant location/low rates in many way. The pod-coffee machine didn't work, not even for hot water. This is going to be a long review, so I'm going to summarize the highlights in case you don't get through all of it:
THERE IS NO HEAT. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. DON'T LET THE PICTURES FOOL YOU - SUPER CHEAP "UPGRADES"
And now for the detail:
I stayed here for one night, mainly drawn by the relatively affordable price point, convenient location and how it looked quite modern and hip. A long...

The Burrard is a nice hotel, convenient to downtown, in an expensive city. Their rates are very reasonable. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
I'm happy to recommend The Burrard.
First, the good:
- Modern, comfortable room
- Fun atmosphere - an older motel-type facility that doesn't pretend to be a hotel, but rather accepts what it is. Unique and not old school.
- Generally friendly staff.
- Reasonable price for downtown Vancouver.
Now, the bad:
- My check-in experience was not hassle-free. I...

This hotel is so central it makes it easy to get around the city by foot, transit, taxi or driving. Staff were very informative and helpful and responded quickly to any requests. All staff always greeted me as if they remembered me and indeed could tell me my room number before I had to tell them. Very enjoyable stay
A delightful find in a very convenient location and good value for the price.
Hotel located centrally in downtown Vancouver. Staff helpful in suggesting eateries.
Room was spacious and clean. Courtyard would be very enjoyable in warmer weather.
The Burrard is centrally located to all of Vancouver's hot spots. The hotel is unique and the staff is super friendly. Complimentary bicycles allow for easy travel to all surrounding areas. If you are looking for a fun experience, then the Burrard is for you!
Great location, free use of bicycles a bonus, super friendly staff and simply designed rooms. Slightly noisy if you're a light sleeper due to being opposite the hospital and just hearing general road traffic, but I'd stay again for sure and pop in the ear plugs!
The location of The Burrard could not have been better! Rooms were clean, nicely decorated and the Nespresso machines were a nice touch. The courtyard and general building were great, too. I would definitely stay again!
The Burrard is a step above your average hotel. It is a particularly good deal and location in the giant and expensive city of Vancouver. I was surprised that the bed wasn't made during my recent 2 night stay. The shampoo was topped up but I was disappointed the room wasn't serviced, esp at the price. Great location and ambiance. I liked the cafe and the coffee there was good. Close to restaurants and other attractions. Easy walk to Granville Island.
Lovely trendy motel style hotel that is a bit different. We asked for a room overlooking the courtyard which was roomy and very clean and trendy. Short walk to everything including the beach! The guys on reception were extra friendly and helpful, advising on where to go for dinner.
Would stay here again!
It's a lovely, unusual little place hidden among more shiny, modern buildings and was lovely and quiet! Within very short waling distance of the centre of Vancouver with a lovely supermarket on the way.
We were very surprised with the twin queen room,it was very spacious well appointed . Good location an great value for money. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and a great little coffee shop next door.
My fiance and I stayed at the Burrard for the Vancouver Half marathon and his 40th birthday. We loved it! Looks cool and the website is great, but its really very cramped. There's little to no parking available (and its super expensive). No AC, and the portable units worked horribly. People go to Vancouver for so many different reason, not just vacations, I my case, was medical reason.
We stayed for 3 nights in May 2014. All front desk staff were polite and helpful. The room was small but nicely decorated. We used the complimentary bikes which were a highlight of our stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
We were there fer a personal medical reason. Location was perfect. We enjoyed a stroll in the evening. Excellent value. Very clean. Affordable for downtown Vancouver and the location. We would stay again.
The Burrard is a glorified motel with clever branding and a "retro"-chic aesthetic.
Location is great, aside from relentless traffic noise at night (and occasional blips from ambulance sirens from the hospital across the street)... without AC, it was necessary to keep windows open at all hours for ventilation. Noise interfered with our sleep.

Close to everything, but surprisingly tranquil in the beautiful courtyard. Clean comfortable room, friendly staff and a refreshingly personal character to everything in the hotel. Very affordable for a downtown location.
It is an older hotel (with a motel look to it), but they made it "fun" with nice decor and clever signs. If you just need a clean place to sleep, this fits the bill. Once you park your car in the parkade, you can leave it there and walk all around the downtown core (we did!).

this hotel is good for the out patient at the St. Pauls Hospial. Just across the street. Other than that, I would stay at a different hotel and cheaper.
Pros:
-Beautifully "thought out", well-designed rooms
-The shower is nice and hot
-Not a boutique hotel but sure looks and feels like one (without the attitude to go with it in general)
-Excellent proximity to the best of what downtown Vancouver offers.
-Parking on hotel grounds sucks and is hard to fine, but you can park across the street in the hospital parking garage for about $2 (Canadian)...

Stayed here for a week, was travelling as couple, stayed for a week. Just an awesome location and comfortable bed for a budget cost.

Finally! A cool hotel without tacky floral bedding! As a designer, this place is totally my style. My son and I stayed in late November 2013 for two nights, and we loved our room, the courtyard, and the Nespresso espressos. I loved the look of this hotel which is why we booked it! It's very retro and cool. We arrived 4 hours before check in time and got into our room straight away which was great! Clean as a Whistle, right across from St Pauls Hospital, Court House two blocks away, priced right at under a 100CA , on site reasonably priced or free parking available, bikes available, although I am not sure I would try navigating Van traffic. We stayed at The Burrard for two nights in July 2013. We chose this hotel for its location and the price, which compared to the hotels closer to downtown, is a seemingly good deal during the summer. The tradeoff is that while the retro motor inn style is cool, there aren't many amenities—which was fine with us. However, based on... more
I don't like giving 5 stars but I really can't think of a reason not to. This place was amazing. I'm from Long Beach, CA (Los Angeles) and my boyfriend and I traveled up here for a quick vacation. We wish we had an extra day to just lay around the hotel room and watch TV.
Location: perfect, it was walking distance to everything downtown. There is a coffee shop located right next door.

The staff were first rate, so helpful and friendly and I always received a cheerful chatty welcome. Fantastic location. The room was great, very clean, and the bed so comfy, plus the free bike hire was a real bonus to the stay. I stayed on my own so it was a bit of a luxury just for me but as a couple this place is great value.
Such a cute hotel! Trendy, boutique, great location. I loved hanging out in the courtyard and the complementary bikes to ride around the city. The amenities were great - free wifi and coffee in the room yippeeeeee. Clean, respectful staff, central locale and the price is right. Highly recommend!
Great hotel very conveniently located. Cool & trendy feel to it. Finally a hotel that gives you free wifi and other great amenities in the rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I also loved Betty, the coffee shop attached to the hotel. Overall a very positive experience and I will stay there again next time I'm in Vancouver!
Okay, so I won't lie. I had booked another, much fancier hotel prior to booking the Burrard. Then, last minute I decided there was no point in spending an arm and a leg, plus I found a great deal on Booking.com and it came highly recommended by a coworker.
When I arrived, the front desk staff was friendly and helped to check me in, then directed me on how to get into the secured parking...

This has got to be the worst service experience of my life. I feel sick thinking about it.
I stayed at The Burrard a few weeks ago. In the middle of the night I used the bathroom and locked the door. I was unable to reopen it. This was alarming since it was 2:30am and my friend had already fallen asleep. I panicked realizing I was going to have to start yelling in order to wake him. After he awoke he called the front desk. They came up and tried everything they could, but were... more
The staff was warm, friendly and most helpful from the moment we arrived until we left. The beds were comfy; the rooms clean and the design, Canadian hip, with a sense of humor. The hotel is well-located with great restaurants within walking distance. Not terrible, but far short of what's promised, and what other reviewers have said.
It started at check-in: I tried to check-in early (around 11), but apparently all the rooms were booked-up and housekeeping hadn't taken care of my room, so I waited for 3 hours to finally get access to my room.
Once I finally got to the room, it was small but comfortable, with all the basics. I went to take a...

We ended our Canada vacation in Vancouver. The Burrard was well located and we were able to walk or take public transportation wherever we wished to go. The bathroom was quite clean. The room was a bit cramped for two people with 2 suitcases. The staff was pleasant and answered our questions. They offered umbrellas for a rainy night. The price was reasonable.
I completely agree with Ken D.'s review and it is quite a brilliant summary. So I am reposting it with small edits and commentary to save myself time. Funny enough, he did not rate the experience favorably; while agreeing with his objective comments, we had a different, positive subjective experience.
Pros:
- Affordability - probably the best deal for the price in this nice of neighborhood in...

Friendly personell. The hotel is being run in a warm and pleasant vintage style.Due to a booking-error at the hotel's side, we got a tiny room for three people. Beside kind appologies, there was no other solution offered, that's a pitty. The location is convenient to reach various hotspots of the city by foot or by using the hotel's bicycles which can be used at no charge. That was excellent.
Downtown, (payed) parking, nespresso (!) bikes and wifi. Clean and a very friendly staff. What more can you ask for? Excellent hotel that we would definitely recommend and we'll visit again. Plans already have been made to return to Vancouver.
Recently refurbished so everything has that nice feeling you get in fresh surroundings. Bonus is the bathroom, completely with tiles. So much better...

The Burrard is a decent and clean hotel. It isn't quite as fancy as some of the other hotels but it does have some charm in its own way. The location is excellent and the price is even better. I will stay here again the next time I visit Vancouver.
The second leg of our journey brought us north into downtown Vancouver. Frankly, The Burrard Hotel was chosen based on two factors: availability and cost. Several of the reviews contained positive vibes which somewhat contributed to my decision to book there. Having now stayed at The Burrard, I would probably disagree with those reviews as my accommodation requirements differs.

Ein Top-Hotel mit freundlichem und kompetentem Personal! Das Zimmer war in einem sauberen Zustand mit grandioser Ausstattung. Unbedingt weiter zu empfehlen!
Great place for city centre, appealing 'retro' building but with modern fittings, helpful staff, handy cafe, close to restaurants.Don't expect peace and solitude - go to the countryside if that's what you want.Easy 20mins walk to Stanley Park or the harbour. Some very interesting sites on Davie St during 'pride' weekend
Cute and retro, and in a great location. The rooms are well-appointed, though the bathrooms could use a clean up. The air conditioners are really horrible, and parking is very expensive.
Not exactly in the best location as far as the major tourist spots go, but if you don't mind walking a bit, the price is right for what you get. Lots of more local restaurants in the area as well.

The hotel was in a great location, it was clean, most of the staff was very nice. However, our room faced the street and it was very loud. I asked to switch to a room in the back and they said that there were no other rooms available. They didnt seem too bothered by it. That was disappointing. The highlight of the hotel were the access to free bikes.
Retro, funky and boutique. I brought my daughter here for a little mother-daughter night out. It's a great location with lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

Not just b/c it's a major night-and-day from its previous look, but this is a chick, boutique hotel.
Lobby has funky sofas, decor real retro but all new. Rooms a bit small due to its heritage building, and the layout not like a typical hotel setting. More like a courtyard so when you're getting to your room, it's actually outside, with the courtyard looking down behind you. Cool on a nice, dry...

I picked this hotel because it was affordable and in a good location (right across the street from a much more expensive Sheraton). If you're looking for a hotel with character and personality - but also clean and in a great location - this is the hotel. This is not your boring chain hotel - instead it has a real feel to it (hip, 50's-ish) that's fun to experience. Rooms are on the smaller size but comfortable - and amenities are good with a 42-inch HD TV on the wall, coffee maker, etc. Love the signage around the place.

This was actually a nice surprise! Not good if you want the bells and whistles but modern, trendy and great renovation plus I love the marketing. We had a very nice stay at the Burrard. It has a fantastic location and is quite stylish.
Tastefully redone rooms, lobby with a beautiful center courtyard garden. Unfortunately the rooms are not air conditioned so beware if you visit during a warm summer.
