Since 1986, Thai House has been the place to go for tasty Southeast Asian cuisine. Think of this restaurant as Thai 101: novices can get their first taste of Thai with no-nonsense, well-made classics served up by the impossibly friendly staff. For more advanced diners, Thai House offers fusion dishes like New Zealand lamb chops, crispy wontons stuffed with chicken and shrimp, and free-range... more

The great: flavour!! Tofu thom kah tasted so fragrant. Also the tofu was not fried in the soup. Perfect! Tofu lettuce wraps amazing also.

The good: coconut rice. Just maybe a bit more coconut, please.

The awkward: the server kept coming by to serve me my soup. I like to decide what amount of tofu and broth :-)

Overall: fantastic!!!!!! Great atmosphere. Well-paced service. Friendly... more

Pro's - good selection, excellent service, fast! The satay chicken was excellent, and the rice was cooked perfectly.
Con's - maybe we hit it on a bad night, happens to every restaurant, but the food just wasn't great. The red curry contained only chicken and onions, and the sauce was more bland than I would expect from Thai food.

My favorite Thai Restaurant in Vancouver

The Thai House Restaurant has been my favorite Thai Restaurant for many years.

I've previously reviewed this place and generally like its food and atmosphere. What I'm reviewing now is its Dine Out menu, which I had yesterday, and is very disappointing. The main problem is the portion sizes, which are laughable, aren't enough to fill two people, and aren't worth $18pp. What's even more frustrating is that for $4pp more, you can have their menu for two, which includes two... more

During my week in Vancouver, I again got the craving for Thai, and happened to be walking by Thai House at the cravings peak. A quick sneak at Yelp showed it to be worth venturing in....I was seated quickly, ordered a cold beer, and checked out the menu.

I'm surprised that I haven't frequented this place as much even though I live right in the neighbourhood.

On a sunny but cold Sunday headed here for lunch and the place was quite empty. The service is friendly and fast and pad thai was delicious. The portion size is great, lots to munch on and they didn't overload you with noodles and forgot the shrimp which some other Thai places tend to do.

Went for dinner at 700pm on a Sat nite . Not busy at all. Service was quick & wait staff friendly. Had a Tom yum soup for one, prawns with Basil & red & green peppers, coconut rice, fried bananas with coconut ice cream. Total came to 31.00.
Not bad, but the food is definitely mediocre. Fried banana were oily & double fried. If there was a 2.5 rating, I would give it that.

September 07, 2013

Wow, I just ordered from Robson Street restaurant because the one in Kit's is being renovated. What a mistake. Tasted terrible. Prawns did not taste fresh, the sauce was watered down and the satay were these thin, sad looking strips. I threw out the entre Flame Prawn dish. Can't wait for the Kit's site to open again. I hope they have the same chef they had before the renovations.

My wife and I were in the mood for some Thai food and we came upon their lunch specials. Now I can only speak for their pad thai and service. I thought the service was very friendly and exceptional. In addition, the pad thai came with an egg roll which was good. For the pad thai itself it was above average and was a good dish but wasn't the best I ever had. Warning to soft drink consumers
August 16, 2009

You might want to switch to beer or wine when visiting the Thai House. Why? A Diet Coke is $5.50. They'll ask you if you want another and you may innocently say yes. The soft drink bill is now $11.00. I don't normally look at beverage prices because they normally don't amount to much. These exorbitant prices soured the experience which in all other respects was quite good. Thought I'd warn... more

The Restaurant is located on busy Robson Street, which is crammed with tourists and locals out for a stroll, a meal, or to shop. After some heavy duty souvenir shopping we found Thai House. Its on the second floor and overlooks the busy Robson Street shops.

We had a great view from our table of the kaos below. It was a hot day, so I was pleased to find that the dinning room was nice and cool.... more

Loved it!.

when at a new place I always order the staples: Green Curry chicken, Chicken Satay and Pad Thai.

Everything rocked. The kids loved the Satay, it was juicy, meaty and flavorful. Compared to our experience the next day at Sala Thai, which is was dry, not much chicken.

The Pad Thai at Thai House, had some zing to it, and some spice to it. It really stood out. Finally the green curry,... more

Thai House Bistro
July 11, 2009

Located under the Burrard St. Bridge. Part of the Thai House chain. Fairly tasty but the vegetarian chili fried rice had large chunks of almost raw veg. Service was not very good even though the room was not full and there seemed to he pleny of servers. Dinner for 2 with one glass of wine & one beer $66.00

Good Thai Food
March 29, 2009

Went the other night with several friends. Usually go to their lunch as they have a great set meal but never tried their dinner for some reason. Turns out that the dinner is even better as we all chose several entrees and shared them tapas inspired. The waiter was very attentive and accommodating to our needs too especially since one person was a vegetarian and another avoids spices. Overall,... more

Yellow curry is the gauge I use to determine the quality of Thai food. My theory is based on 1) a *creamy* yellow curry sauce, 2) a *sweet* coconut flavor, 3) and a *subtle* kick of spice.

IMHO, this, was not.

This was positively one of the worst Thai meals I have had. I should have turned on my heals and walked out when I greated the waiter in Thai and he looked at me like I was from Mars... turns out he was Hong Kong Chinese, not Thai. Not being Thai isn't really a problem, but not even knowing how to say hello in Thai and working at a Thai restaurant seems poor.

Now to the food:

I was pretty excited to go to Thai House having read pretty good reviews (not including the one below me). So having a super big craving for pad thai, I thought Thai House was going to be a hit.

On a rainy Sunday evening, the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. We ordered the Traditional Pad Thai and the Duck Curry served in a "young coconut," and deep fried bananas with mango ice cream. I... more

Went to Thai House as it was one of the closest in proximity to our apartment. Do we need to use Google maps to find everything? Surely it doesn't excel in atmosphere or being "trendy or hip". Somewhat understood that this is not their angle. I'm fine with that aspect..as the food should be doin' the taking.

The food was reasonable, but surely I've had better. We ordered the chicken and yellow... more

There's a few locations of Thai House, but this is the only one I've been to. And I've been here quite a lot!

My favorites are the chicken satya, pad thai, and green curry chicken. I'm crazy about all of them, and have trouble trying anything else. Many meals come with a fresh crisp spring roll.

Service is consistently good and quick. Prices are reasonable. It's a great place to go every time... more

Yummy! This place is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. (It's also in the Entertainment Guide for buy one entree get one free up to $15.)
The Tom Kha Gai soup was the spiciest I've ever had. That soup generally isn't nearly as spicy as it was here. I think they should take it down a notch, and I like spicy food. Nevertheless, it was very good.
We like the other entrees as well.... more

Good Thai Food Experience in Vancouver
September 19, 2008

While on a biz work related trip, an associate and I dropped in at the downtown Vancouver Thai House Restaurant for dinner. Heard about it from a co-worker's friend of a friend in Vancouver so we both didn't know what to expect. The city is a mecca for great Asian cuisine so we thought, why not give it a shot.... more

After moving here from Calgary, I've found this site to be quite helpful in introducing which restaurants I plan to go. My co-workers brought me to dine at the Thai House on Robson earlier this week as they've been going there for over 10 years. Funny thing was when they ordered for me, the server simply said to my friend, #19 right, to which he said of course and for my new guy as well ! After... more

Featuring an extensive menu of exotic offerings that range from mild to spicy, anything can be cooked to order depending on how hot you like it. Lunch is a great time to try something new with a set price value menu that highlights the extensive offerings and comes with a vegetarian spring roll, soup and rice.
