Since 1986, Thai House has been the place to go for tasty Southeast Asian cuisine. Think of this restaurant as Thai 101: novices can get their first taste of Thai with no-nonsense, well-made classics served up by the impossibly friendly staff. For more advanced diners, Thai House offers fusion dishes like New Zealand lamb chops, crispy wontons stuffed with chicken and shrimp, and free-range... more
Great selection of items to choose from. If you don't like pickled kim chee then you may not like a number if the dishes. Two dishes fed three nicely but certainly not the best Thai in Vancouver.
The great: flavour!! Tofu thom kah tasted so fragrant. Also the tofu was not fried in the soup. Perfect! Tofu lettuce wraps amazing also.
The good: coconut rice. Just maybe a bit more coconut, please.
The awkward: the server kept coming by to serve me my soup. I like to decide what amount of tofu and broth :-)
Overall: fantastic!!!!!! Great atmosphere. Well-paced service. Friendly...

Pro's - good selection, excellent service, fast! The satay chicken was excellent, and the rice was cooked perfectly.
Con's - maybe we hit it on a bad night, happens to every restaurant, but the food just wasn't great. The red curry contained only chicken and onions, and the sauce was more bland than I would expect from Thai food.

The Thai House Restaurant has been my favorite Thai Restaurant for many years.
Their food is always excellent and the service is always great.
On my last visit-We had the Pad Thi Pe Ses with Jasmine rice and Pad Tofu Vegetarian and Gai Pad Naman-Bonless Chicken with Thai Black Bean Sauce-It was spectacular as always
I've previously reviewed this place and generally like its food and atmosphere. What I'm reviewing now is its Dine Out menu, which I had yesterday, and is very disappointing. The main problem is the portion sizes, which are laughable, aren't enough to fill two people, and aren't worth $18pp. What's even more frustrating is that for $4pp more, you can have their menu for two, which includes two... more
Easily one of the least appetizing Thai experiences I have ever had. Avoid basically anything with meat or curry.
During my week in Vancouver, I again got the craving for Thai, and happened to be walking by Thai House at the cravings peak. A quick sneak at Yelp showed it to be worth venturing in....I was seated quickly, ordered a cold beer, and checked out the menu.
Once again, though, I went to the ol' standby of yellow curry with chicken, just to check out the authenticity. I ordered it uber-spicy, and...

I'm surprised that I haven't frequented this place as much even though I live right in the neighbourhood.
On a sunny but cold Sunday headed here for lunch and the place was quite empty. The service is friendly and fast and pad thai was delicious. The portion size is great, lots to munch on and they didn't overload you with noodles and forgot the shrimp which some other Thai places tend to do.

The food was good, ambiance was ok, a bit older but still fine. I had the Pad Thai & BBQ ribs, both were excellent and reasonably priced.
Went for dinner at 700pm on a Sat nite . Not busy at all. Service was quick & wait staff friendly. Had a Tom yum soup for one, prawns with Basil & red & green peppers, coconut rice, fried bananas with coconut ice cream. Total came to 31.00.
Not bad, but the food is definitely mediocre. Fried banana were oily & double fried. If there was a 2.5 rating, I would give it that.
Wow, I just ordered from Robson Street restaurant because the one in Kit's is being renovated. What a mistake. Tasted terrible. Prawns did not taste fresh, the sauce was watered down and the satay were these thin, sad looking strips. I threw out the entre Flame Prawn dish. Can't wait for the Kit's site to open again. I hope they have the same chef they had before the renovations.
I was looking for a good thai restaurant to take visitors who come and visit us in Van.
AVOID the PAD THAI!!!
I'm a huge Pad Thai fan, and always say its one of those meals that is hard to mess up but the Chicken Pad Thai I had at Thai House was the worst I have ever eaten!

Popped in with friends while in Vancouver. Wasn't too sure about it due to the long stairs from Robson but it was wonderful. Staff were so attentive even for a big crowd. Food had something for everyone. Calamari was excellent. All meals were really good and price was great. Would recommend highly!
My wife and I were in the mood for some Thai food and we came upon their lunch specials. Now I can only speak for their pad thai and service. I thought the service was very friendly and exceptional. In addition, the pad thai came with an egg roll which was good. For the pad thai itself it was above average and was a good dish but wasn't the best I ever had. Overall the restaurant met expectations.
Was chatting up the concierge at our hotel, talking food. Discovered he was from Thailand, so asked where he eats nearby, and got an unhesitating recommendation for Thai House on Robson. A couple of blocks later we sat down to a most pleasantly surprising meal. The manager was charming and attentive, although this is not unusual- my wife could make... more
I like going here with my husband for their weekday lunch specials, which consist of a small bowl of hot and sour soup, an egg roll and your choice of a chicken/beef/pork entree in various sauces. At $7.99 per special, it is a pretty good deal. The service is also very good here as they get you your food quick and are great at refilling your drinks.
However, I would have given them more stars...

This was our first time to this restaurant and we were amazed at how good the food was, so full of flavour! The staff were also very friendly. The restaurant was very clean, but looks like it could use a little updating (only negative). We would recommend it and will definitely return.
We ordered takeout to our hotel and it was fast but more importantly the food was excellent. The Thai fried rice is great with Pork and the lettuce wraps are a must. Recommend this without hesitation.
I would really like to give this place a better rating because it's a nice location and the service was quite good, but the food was so sub-par for the price that it's hard to look past. From reading the other reviews they seem to have some wicked lunch deals, so perhaps I'll go back and find I should add a star or two? Who knows.

We went to the Thai House for my sons birthday celebration. The restaurant was very accommodating when we wanted to rearrange the tables to have us all together.

Ordering a pop/soda is $2.75 but doesn't include any refills. That's quite absurd. Other than that though, the food was pretty decent but a little on the pricey side.
We came across this gem while strolling down Robson. It was a saturday night around 7, and you can't see inside the second floor location from the street where the display menu was located. After climbing the narrow stairway, we entered a bustling, packed restaurant.
We started with the four piece chicken satay with peanut sauce and picked cucumber relish....

The food was really good (especially the squid!); however, we kept getting interrupted by the staff to see how we were doing. Most Thai restaurants don't make the green curry too spicy but it is here. Make sure you order an extra beer or glass of water. I just tried Singha and it's so so. Get spring rolls to start they're yummy.
We were disappointed in the food here. The service was good but we have had much better Thai food in other cities.
After leaving my hotel on Robson, with a couple of small bags in tow, I realized that lunch was next on the agenda. The service is consistently excellent - attentive and polite, whether I am using an Entertainment Coupon (and I have, several times) or not. Came here for a weekday lunch and was surprised to see the place packed. Who knew the had a lunch menu? Not me! While I'm pretty sure it's all stock food (meat + veggies + curry, a bowl of rice, spring rolls, soup that seems like a waterier version of the spring roll sauce), you can't be the quick service. Massaman Beef Curry - unbelievably terrible, the off-white color was an indication that there was way too much coconut milk and not enough curry paste, not the mention there was hardly any beef or potato in one portion, they just give you a ton of sauce.
We selected this purely on the basis of having walked past it earlier in the day. Having made the choice to go Thai this was the only one we knew near the hotel. I was looking for thai food while in Vancouver. This place was close to my hotel and in a popular shopping area. It's upstairs and looks a little shady from the street, but it's legit. The service was good, the food was good, a totally decent place if you need a quick phad thai fix.
I came here a few times, and it's nothing special. Food honestly comes in a nano second (talking about made to order:S), service is ok. Inside is a bit dark. Food is ok, nothing too good or bad. When it comes to Thai food, I prefer Salathai Restaurant which is just two blocks away.
I come here just because it is so close to my home!
My workmates wanted to do lunch on Friday at the Thai House, apparently so did the rest of white-collared Vancouver. Luckily we made a rezzo, which didn't really seem like a rezzo when we walked in, since they didn't have a table quite ready, but they pulled one together pretty fast.

Thai House was well reviewed by the tour book and some local magazines. Unfortunately, the meal was fair at best. Spice overpowered the flavor of the food. Yellow curry is the gauge I use to determine the quality of Thai food. My theory is based on 1) a *creamy* yellow curry sauce, 2) a *sweet* coconut flavor, 3) and a *subtle* kick of spice.

This was positively one of the worst Thai meals I have had. I should have turned on my heals and walked out when I greated the waiter in Thai and he looked at me like I was from Mars... turns out he was Hong Kong Chinese, not Thai.
