The most interesting thing I ate in 2014...so far

No folks it wasn't Kentucky Fried Chicken, or even the wonderful twice fried versions of Korean Fried Chicken tossed in gojchung spicy sauce. it was in fact the other KFC,- Korean Fried Cauliflower. Lots of pig products

I was surprised about the variety of pork, bacon, ham products on the menu. There was even bacon in the potatoes...No light choices- I had the chicken, which was the lightest entree- and that was still really high-fat.
This reminded me of a restaurant menu from the 70's and not one from 2014.

Great Food with Excellent Wine List
June 30, 2014Have eaten at Tavern 1903 a number of times and have always been impressed. Their Spinalis Rib Eye roll is amazing with an excellent cut of beef, amazing Chimichurri sauce and a Horseradish Creme Fresh it is truly a great appetizer. Wine list, while not extensive is varied and offers some great choices.

Between our gang we've tried the pork belly sandwiches, duck tortilla soup, chicken waffles, and flat iron steak. We would recommend them all as fantastic choices. Packed restaurant on Saturday.
Started with appetizers- the deep fried cauliflower, the chimmichurri steak rolls, hickory ribs and the smoked mozzarella. Debated on making it an all appetizer night.
I had the flatiron steak. Great. The ladies split two entrees - the chicken waffle and one of the salads. R had the ribs. All enthusiastic thumbs up.

Consistently good food

They have a mozzarella bar and chef. And it shows. Some really fine creations coming out from that mozzarella chef. Spoiled me now as I won't be able to enjoy it as much elsewhere.
Rest of the menu has been impressive as well. No complaints.
If I could change something I would suggest they use smaller decanters for their wine....

Perfect blend
March 03, 2014I love this place and have been for drinks/nibblies on the bar side, and a meal on the restaurant side. I loved both though I think they serve different occasions. Food was extremely flavorful. Beer selection great. Portions were not filling. Service good. Tables too close to one another for the price. But this is Edmonton, where everything is a tad overpriced, but fortunately, less taxed than in the rest of the country.
