Excellent sashimi and presentation. Can get dishes here not offered by any other japanese restaurant. Hard to believe, but the sashimi actually tastes significantly better than any other place I've been.
Great sushi place, very close to the Fairmont York in downtown Toronto. Am here on businesses and it was highly recommended by a local.
The prices are a little high but the quality of the seafood is excellent. The sunomono was great - but don't expect any rice noodles. However, lots of seafood that surprised me - crab, octopus. And...

Wow. the Sishi was fantastic. lunch special was a great value. Fantastic chef. The food tasted absolutelly great.
Stumbled upon this place before a hockey game. Was very surprised the fish was really fresh. Haven't seen sushi of this quality since I moved back to ontario from Vancouver.
I had the sake and Toro... Best I've had in quite a while - highly recommended.......... Apparently trip advisor doesn't like brevity.
I went to the ACC for a hockey game, and before the game I went to Take Sushi. Great sushi, great service. Also FREE parking. They validate parking for you if you park at the Brookfield place. So I used the money I would have spent for parking, and put it towards amazing sushi. It was so fresh, and the... more
The best hand roll in the city! Very friendly service with constant fill up of tea. The menu is pretty simple, crowd favourites for sushi. Wish they served butterfish and beef enoki rolls. Dishes are served in pretty Japanese pottery instead of the cheap plastic ware which is a nice touch on the table.
I'd go back again.
We were staying at the Fairmont Royal York and needed a place for dinner….Take Sushi was an excellent choice! We ate here many years ago and remember it fondly, however, we don't venture in this area very often so we haven't been back for a while.
We had the eggplant appetizer, black cod appetizer and sushi entrée. Everything was DELISH!...

Daily sushi specials well worth trying. Good value and variety. Quick service. Reservations recommended.
We had meeting in downtown Toronto in August. With all the stands in the near by food courts, quick lunch choices ere plenty; however, at the end of the day, where do you want to go for dinner?
There was constructions near Fairmont. There are several Italian, brewery/restaurants if you want to walk for a few blocks; however, if you...

This place has been around forever and, inexplicably, fills up at lunch. No idea why anyone would want to eat cold, soggy edamame, beg for someone to take an order and have the table cleared while they're still chewing their last bite.
The sushi is okay, but feels a bit stale. The wakame salad is under-dressed and boring. The tempura...

It's not hard to find out what the daily specials are - a display table at the front entrance of the restaurant shows the $20 and $24 options complete with all of the food items. A warning - if you;re going with one of the specials - which I highly recommend - make sure you're hungry.
The day I had...

Although I have had sushi around the world, including Japan and and many top-rated sushi restaurants, this was the best! We ordered a la carte, so it was a more expensive lunch than usual. The lunch specials were very reasonable.
I ate at Take Sushi when on my way to a Toronto Maple Leaf games at Air Canada Centre. Always liked the sushi , have sat at the bar and eaten at the tables. It is always excellent in my opinion and I have been eating at Japanese restaurants since the late 60's when there were only a handful of... more
Visited this palce early 2012. Though I work nearby but had never gone there to eat. Went there on a colleague's recommendation.
One of the best Sushi I have had till now. Their lunch specials are value for money. I tried to make my own combo but ended up paying more.
The place is packed during lunch hours. No reservations...

I'm not from the GTA, so I had not eaten at Take Sushi for 30+ years (!) but immediately recalled the warm ambience and wonderful food upon eating here again. The decor may look a bit dated but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accomodating when, for example,... more
Went for lunch and ordered the sushi lunch special. It came with a better miso soup and salad. The sushi portion was generous and varied. It was actually the best sushi that I ever had. Albeit, I am not a world class sushi expert, but it was good. Reservation recommended.
Was surprised at how good this restaurant was. The interior was classy, yet low-key. The service was great (we came at five mid-summer when there were few other guests around, though), and the sushi was fantastic.
Up there among the best sushis I've had, and I'm convinced it's the best in Toronto.
Walked by this restaurant on sunday (was closed) but went on monday - had a great meal in close proximity to Royal york hotel ( 1 block). wonderful sushi rolls (california with masago was sooo good!) and very very good sashimi. Great service, very attentive, really nice looking restaurant to meet colleagues. recommended.
Walked by it while heading for another restaurant and stopped to read the menu. We went in for a snack and enjoyed it so much that we ended up ordering two plates of sushi. The pieces were very big and fresh. Saki was good too. Waitress was helpful in choosing saki and food was delivered in a timely manner. Pleasant... more
Really good sushi in Downtown Toronto!Their sashimi is the best I've had outside of Ru Sans in Charlotte, NC, USA...absolutely huge slices of really fresh fish! I'm a sake (salmon) sucker, and this place had the most flavorful sake I've had in awhile. Their handrolls are fantastic as well. Get them with the soy wrapper instead of the traditional Nori. This place has fresh, never-frozen, fish.... more
Solid Japanese restaurant -- consistent quality, excellent service, nice, quiet ambiance. They have been in business for over 20 years, which says something. This place isn't trendy like Guu or flashy like Ki, but they do Japanese food right. Takesushi caters mostly to the business lunch crowd, so it is usually calm and quiet during the evenings and weekends. It's a reliable choice if you are... more
Looking for sushi, this is THE PLACE to go. The temperature of the fish is just right, not too cold as if they just come out from the fridge. This takes a lot of skill. The good turnover of guests gaurantees that the food is always fresh. IMHO, with the exception of Sushi Kagi on Queensway this is by far... more
The sushi was good, but the portion size of dinner meals was on the small size, which was disappointed considering the prices are on the higher side. Had the tempura dinner (the amount of rice and isauce was very small and lasted for about 3 pieces of tempura). The restaurant does validate parking (which would have been good to know ahead of time)
Takesushi is around the corner from my hotel and I am thoroughly enjoying it and getting my sushi fix. I am so glad that I discovered it and have enjoyed it twice now.The spicy tuna is great and you can choose whether you want it with avocado or cucumber. Both are really good and fresh. Their nigri is also very fresh and cut to perfection. I also love their shitaki mushroom roll. It's... more
Takesushi was quite possibly the best sushi I have had. The spicy scallop and dynamite rolls were the highlight of my meal. The nigiri was elegantly cut and assembled. Our food was very fresh and satisfying at very reasonable prices. Our service was every bit as good as our fish. My girlfriend and I bombarded our server with requests to change tables, low sodium soy sauce, extra ginger, etc.... more
Last weekend, I enjoyed my third visit at Takesushi. Since I have discovered Takesushi, I make sure to visit each time I come to Toronto. The sushi is very good and fresh, the waiters are attentive and the atmosphere lovely. The prices are also fairly good for the area, not cheap, but not horribly expensive, I always feel like I get a good deal as the fish is so good.
Takesushi is packed on weekdays for lunch... mostly business crowds with clients. It has the best sushi Ive had in Toronto.
Try the Sushi Special for lunch.. :)
Service is great and even if its busy they will try and get you a seat at the sushi bar!
Dinner is quiet.. so great if you want a relaxing time.
This place had a wonderful atmosphere, extremely attentive and friendly waiters and proved to be a great experience for me and my friend. The food was delicious and the presentation beautiful. Soup, sushi and dessert were all top notch. The price was reasonable, not cheap but not very expensive either. All in all, I would absolutely come back and I plan to. :)
This used to be a place for business lunch. Service is fairly efficient but food quality was inconsistent. It is going upscale, but so is the price and you can find better value elsewhere.
great place if you are going to the ACC or the hummingbird center (free parking on event nights with dinner), omakase is very good and is well priced. sushi there is amazing!!!
A little bit more than I'm used to spending on sushi, but the pieces of fish were very big and very fresh.
Excellent - not too expensive.
Great lunch spot. Intimate, authentic Japanese food and fabulous sushi. Friendly service. It is a small venue so make reservations, particularly at lunch or you might be disappointed.
One of the best sushi experiences I've had in T.O.
If you want great service this is the place for you. charming and dedicated servers will make the most of your stay — unfortunately, the food is just adequate, mediocre at best. Adding a sake bar and sprucing up its Front and Yonge St facade does little to shed its tasteful yet generic interior and traditional yet formulaic menu.
Takesushi Restaurant offers these services: restaurant, japanese restaurant, sushi.
