I am a former chef who lives for sushi, and let me tell you this quaint little bridgeland restaurant is the best sushi spot in town! Nothing fancy, just fresh and flavorfull! Not alot of seating so I recommend going before or after the rushes.. The miso soup and all the little apps are quite good aswell!
Love the food. Affordable. The place is really nice.
I am not a fan of going to a "sushi" place and getting chicken teriyaki, but I should have. I went there for lunch; I got two rolls: spicy tuna (pretty good, not spicy enough) and dynamite (wish there had been a little more... something). Both were decent and well priced. My friend, on the other hand, had the lunch bento box - that is what I should have gotten. For the same price as my two... more
After a long absence from the food scene, I returned to action this week with a big haul of new restaurants. Having no food in the fridge, I decided to take my taste buds out of the far Northwest and to Bridgeland where a hole-in-the-wall sushi place called Sushi Hibiki drew my attention.I arrived around 6pm, when only one table was taken. I sat down and ordered two tekka (tuna) rolls ($4.75... more
Is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Calgary and not only. We try them all in every city we visit. From entrance to washrooms, from antrees to deserts from chef to waitress 10-out-10.
Assorted Deluxe Sushi
-
Nice little place, well maintained and very clean. Traffic coming in at lunch was very steady.I got the assorted deluxe sushi combo. 1 California roll and 9 pieces of Nigiri. The Nigiri was very fresh, especially the salmon. The scallops were also good. I don't usually have scallops because I usually find them pretty fishy, but it wasn't the case here. Prices are very...

Great for a quick bite. Service was friendly and the food was not bad. It was great for a Japanese place on a budget, but don't expect high quality Sushi. That being said, although the ingredients were not "High End", the chef prepared it well and it was fresh. I will be back for sure, but not for any kind of business dinner or date... just when I want good and cheap.
This place is rare gem in Calgary. The food is awesome and the service is very good. You might feel like you're eating in a hallway decorated with items found at chinese yard-sales, but its has charm to spare. It's obviously got it's regulars. That was clear when the server and kitchen staff were refering to patrons by their first name. My girlfriend loves it and we'll be back for sure.
I am a sushi lover, though judging from the reviews it appears that I should probably try sushi outside of Calgary.Nonetheless I've eaten in many sushi restaurants in Calgary and I thought the food in Hibiki was absolutely fantastic! From the advice of my sister's ex, I have been meaning to go to Hibiki for a long time until finally I got the chance to pay my visits after my diploma with a... more
Nobu-san of Sushi Hibiki is not just the best sushi chef in Calgary, he is also the kindest employer. Sadly, in recent years, the service at many Japanese-owned places in Calgary has gone down. Nothing remotely approaching the routine abuse and abrasiveness of the pseudo-Japanese places run by Chinese - but places like Sushi Kawa and Banzai regardless do not have attentive staff. Sushi Kawa in... more
Checked out Sushi Hibiki in Bridgeland this week. Located in the little strip mall along Edmonton Trail, Sushi Hibiki is a little hole in the wall offering a variety of Japanese cuisine... more
...we'd heard good things about Sushi Hibiki, a little hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant that occupies the space that used to house Café de Tokyo, so we decided to give it a try.
Freshest sushi in Calgary that I know of. Yum! Very reasonable prices and service! Repeat!
probably one of the BEST japanese noodle house here in calgary...tonkotsu and miso ramen are my favs!!
The sushi was marginal (they use sea stick on most rolls), the miso soup was poor, and the salad was terrible (bottled thousand island dressing). It was easily the worst sushi I've had in Calgary. And the worst bit is that it was expensive as well! We paid $60 for lunch for two (no drinks other than tea) and left hungry. If you're going to offer poorly made sushi, at least offer it at the... more
We had stopped by when it was Tokyo cafe and enjoyed it.But came back when it was Hibiki and we so impressed. The chef pays attention and detail to all his dishes and makes a point to talk to his customers. He always tests new dishes on us and they never fail.Love the salmon and avocado in soy.We have never been disappointed here. Its small and quant. which keeps it busy but toned down.We would... more
No matter where we go, we always come back to Sushi Hibiki. We`ve gone there so much we`ve gotten to know the owner/chef! Authentic Japanese cuisine crafted and served by a well trained and experienced Japanese chef and staff. Fresh ingredients bought daily, and a real passion and love for his food. His Miso Ramen is the best Ramen in town. Bar none. The broth is full of flavour and the noodles... more
I can't stop going to Sushi Hibiki, the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. The ambiance is simple, but clean. Popular Japanese music is lightly played throughout, and occasionally you will find a pretty origami on each of the tables. Everything here is made fresh by Nabu and the staff are great. I recommend the Soy Croquettes, the Chirashi, the octopus balls, even the cheese... more
I've now been here about 6 times since I moved back to Calgary in October. Time and again, the food and service have been top notch. This is the quality and air of a great sushi restaurant in Japan. The decor is not outlandish and the focus is not on what you see when you look around. The focus is on the food being the way you would get it in Japan.
I just moved to the area and heard about this place from these reviews. What everyone says is true -- the food is fresh and delicious but what really impressed me was the service ... everyone was so friendly, from the server to the cook who made a point of asking us how it was. The restaurant is pretty small but we went on a Saturday at dinnertime and didn't have any problems getting a table... more
We use to visit Cafe of Tokyo at this address. We return to Hibiki with great pleasure. Became synonim with Japanese for us, in a certain way, 'cause anything in the menu gets Japanese attention from Chef and helpers. Everytime we wow at the little (indeed) decorative details. After many months now we find them only faster and better and friendlier.
Now "Sushi Hibiki", this little place has been renovated and is much cleaner. I find it one of the best sushi in town, having eaten to all the most popular out there.
This quiet, hole in the wall is one of Bridgeland's little gems. I'm not really sure what the French-style name is all about but rest assured, Cafe de Tokyo serves traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi. The restaurant itself isn't much to look at, but the friendly staff and cozyness attempts to make up for the lack of any distinguishable decor. It is a great place for some quick... more
