One of my favourite roll, like ever. It’s exactly like tuna tataki but with avocados, and ponzu sauce on the side. Must order!!
Tried this restaurant for dinner with my family. The service is horrible, it takes them forever to replenish your water or tea. Both waitresses were chatting by the sushi chef, not even checking on us. We kept calling them. There was only about 15 people eating here an they couldn't even service us properly. The sushi we ordered was not fresh, I had an after taste. I had a tobiko roll, spicy... more
Finally a sushi joint with some atmosphere. I came here for a casual weekday lunch but this place isn't your average strap-on-the-feedbag type Japanese restaurant. You could actually bring a girl here. There's even cool music. It's a little more expensive than a lot of sushi places around coquitlam but well worth it as the food quality and presentation is both top notch. Also some of their menu... more
It was a Thursday evening, and was rather quiet as we walked in at around 6:30pm. I was surprised to see this place be transformed to what used to be a Japanese supermarket/restaurant, to... more
We live kiddy-corner from this place and had been wary of checking it out because some reviews had said how pricey it was.
We went with our 4-year-old yesterday and the place was pretty much dead around 5:30pm. The decor was stylish with paintings hung everywhere including on small partition walls which gave privacy to a lot of tables in the place.
Our server got us a booster seat which she...

Nice restaurant beautiful setup inside food is good but the servers sometimes are too busy chitchating and completely ignore you whether you want to order or ask for anything.
Finally a great sushi place in the Burnaby / Coquitlam area. The sashimi is very fresh and you get a good portion at a reasonable price. They have some unique items that are authentic to the Japanese cuisine. The ambience is very appealing - modern and cozy. Definitely coming back for their Tekka Don, crunch roll and battera negitoro.
New favorite place to eat. Have yet to order anything I didn't like. Definately a place where quality comes first, not quantity ( for once) Plus you can't go wrong with 2 for 1 sake special everyday. Been a regular ever since discovering this place. On occasion they would bring us complimentary new dishes on the house for us to try :) ( not sure if it's because we frequent so often) Overall... more
I thought the food was pretty good, but a little but on the $$ side. I thought their interior decor was unique and clean. Definitely not like your average sushi restaurant.
Now I will start off that I may be a bit biased to this review considering I have grown to know the owner and staff**
I first heard about this place when my parents went here for lunch one afternoon. I use to come here for Matsuzushi (and their delicious beef udon and spicy tuna roll) but business wasn't all that great and eventually they had to sell. Anyways, my mom being the interior...

Great restaurant. I actually don't mind the turquois colour as it is a bit eye catching. A little different from your typical sushi restaurant. This one is more like japanese fine dining, in burquitlam. The sashimi and sushi quality here is great, and a very clean restaurant! We ordered a chicken udon, negitoro nigiri sushi, sashimi don and 2 rolls. Came out to $57 after tax and tip, so its not... more
cool ambience. v different from the average sushi restaurant. food was awesome!! tasty and fresh! its made with TLC and attention to detail. the rolls are as unique as the decor. highly recommended ;)
This is a terrible restaurant. The service was horrible. Food is decent. But too expensive for its level of quality. (really low quality). The sushi men constantly swears A LOT. whih adds to an overall unpleasant and extremely negative experience. i advise people to not go there Save ur money and time. There are many better sushi places nearby.
My new favorite sushi place in the neighborhood, favorite roll is rice free called St. Patrick's roll! Very fresh new rolls, great chef sashimi is fresh and it's very clean!! Service is also very good. My other favorite is the seafood salad, seared ahi tuna, salmon sashimi and baby shrimp overtop a generous portion of fresh baby greens.
Just read the other two reviews and well, as for the...

I like to start off by saying that I miss Matsuzushi (the old Japanese grocery and sushi dine-in & take-out restaurant that used to occupy the current Sushi Elephant).
That being said, my friends and I thought we'd check out this new restaurant. Upon first impressions, I was amazed at the way they renovated and redecorated the entire facility. New walls were added, comfortable seating, vibrant...

Overall, we were both amazed by the quality and taste of the rolls, but certain items can get be expensive. Since this restaurant is Korean owned, it does have a bit of a Korean twist to... more
I just moved to Vancouver area and for the last 10 days I have been eating out everyday with 7 of them Japanese food. This place has wow factors:- speciality rolls, very original, - Price reasonable if not on the low end of the food they offer. - very nice atmosphere (weird paintings though), comfortable, clean, enjoyable environment, very different interior layout, there are rooms that is out... more
matsu sushi retired and new owner renovated this place. weird interior color but looks clean.food was normal quality but expensive.I couldn't understand about their management style.place was disappointed for me.
The decor inside is like nothing ive really seen before in a sushi joint, ultra modern and sleek with an almost retro type feel to it. The menu is not exactly traditional but appetizing none the less. The deep fried cali rolls were a bit too much to handle but tasty, the salmon sashimi looked beautiful and tasted good. The sexy dynamite roll (lol/facepalm) was incredibly good. Prawn tempura was... more
I enjoy Sushi, I have to be honest though, not a huge fan of Sashimi.
As a good friend of mine from Newfoundland once said "Why would I pay to eat bait?" when I asked if he wanted to have sushi with me.
Given that my two dinner companions and I decided to give Sushi Elephant a try. One friend had been there before, but myself and other friend had not.
It's a striking aqua green color - you...

Awesome restaurant with clean architecture. The rolls were too yummy to stop eating. I loved the rolls especially the flaming dragon roll. The fire on the sides were so cool. You get to heat ur sashimi or anything else on it
I love tis place Food and services are assume here. They have so many special rolls tat i haven't heard before. I had a volcano roll and sexy dynamite roll. Tis place is going to be one of my favorite! There are still so many specials to try! :p
A newish-looking and spacious interior, perhaps a bit too large as near the entrance its quite barren and when there are few customers, it just feels really cool and library-sih quiet. Wasn't horribly bad until our off-the-wall pick of one that had some white sauce. Had a bit of an annoying mix up, mainly due to language barrier with our server, that dragged on much longer than we thought it... more
Had dinner at Elephant Sushi..for a restaurant only open a month things went remarkably well. First of all, the sushi was outstanding...fresh and beautifully presented. The sushi-man was previously at Bluwater Bistro. The service was very friendly and the decor was very vice with rich texture and beautiful colours. Someone obviously put a lot of thought into the design....if you love sushi this... more
Its a nice little place, with modern decor. Servers are friendly and nice. Overall ambience is great. We came for lunch and the food was delicious and fresh. My only concern was that that they have the same menu for lunch as dinner and the prices are rather expensive compared to other places near by. They need to have some lunch promos and specials to encourage people to revisit during the... more
