While one couldn't call this a first rate hotel, it did suit my needs. I only needed to sleep and shower. As price is a concern for me, I chose this hotel because of their low prices. Even though the room was quite small, and the bathroom unbelievably tiny, they were clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They... more
We have stayed here twice. Yes, the room is small but it is just to sleep in. For the price I don`t expect top end furnishings. The room was clean and what we needed was there.I didn`t hear any partying during my stays. The location in the downtown area is perfect for our needs. Definitely will stay here any visit... more
We stopped here for an overnight rest on a trip between cities. We got here late, and we couldn't find a parking spot as cars were parked at all angles. We ended up parking near a large dumpster at the back. It was cold, and there was slippery ice everywhere. We were woken up three times by banging doors and loud laughter. Unfortunately, reception had to call us before sunrise to tell us to... more
Come during summer time. The heat is not enough. Tv has broken speakers.
Dark, dirty, noisy, poorly maintained. Avoid at all costs unless you are desperate.
We stopped at the Super 8 after a long day on the road fighting snow. The room was very surprising. It had been renovated and was nicely decorated. The carpet was new and the bath as well. The room was very clean. It was a great deal.
The room was very small, dirty and anything but soundproof. There were hairs on the bathroom floor, marks all over the walls and was so tiny that you could wash your hands while sitting on the toilet. There was no way to regulate the temperature in the room. The beds and pillows were comfortable enough. I would not have stayed... more
The room in reality is totally different than the one in their Ads. Their reply was that my perception of a difference is due to the bedding is missing, but definitely that was not the only difference. Cleanliness level is below average. Staff are nice and trying to help. It is a good choice if you really have no other alternative or you do not want to spend any extra dollar. Good luck
When looking at the Super8 website it looks like all the double rooms are the same no matter which location you stay at.....this is not the case. This room was extremely small compared to all other double w/two double beds I've stayed in. The bathroom had just enough space to stand between the sink and the toilet. No in room fridge or microwave. I'm just glad there wasn't 4 adults (which is the... more
Bed was comfy enough, but room was tiny, tap leaked in bathroom and the fridge buzzed on and off all night, I had to unplug it. The room was heated with an ancient space heater, which eventully heated the room. The breakfast was toast and cereal, the cereal I had was a Cheerios knockoff and very stale. I was disappointed in the overall experience.
Not a great place to stay if you have kids, if you are just needing a place to spend the night and leave this place would work. Don't expect too much. Plan lots of time out.
Not impressed at all we found coke baggies and dirty tissues on our room floor , obviously the cleaning person doesn't do their job very well. The remote was missing . The next morning we checked out and the scum bags added extra charges to my credit card with out my knowledge , when I called today the manager said... more
The rooms are about the size of a closet, the tv is horrible, funky smell in the hallway, the Pringles vending machine looked to be about 35 years old. Without a question, I would not stay here again.
We stayed here two nights during a road trip and were disappointed with the quality of motel. I understand an older building looking a bit run-down, but a solid carpet cleaning and serious scrub of the walls would brighten up the place. We found some large bugs in the room, so we collected them and allowed them to escape in... more
I would not stay here again . Place is very run down ...very tight quarters ...beds uncomfortable hotel was freezing we had to ask for a heater in our room...we had to ask for toilet paper...less then half a roll, then we relized we had one towel between us ..no hand towels or wash cloths in our room (took them 20 mins to find some) looked our window to a run down boarded up house ,continental... more
The room we first were given was at the far end of the hotel was too cold, but it was the middle of the night. The man at the front desk quickly and happily got us a room closer which was much warmer. It was fine and seeing as we were only there for five hours, worked well for our needs.
This was such a small hotel. The hallways were narrow and old and the room was so small, with dated everything. we had to squeeze sideways past the bed and dresser to get to the other side of the room where the VERY small bathroom was. If you just need a place to stay that's close to downtown Kingston (princess st) its ok for your money, but it is by no means a nice hotel. Pretty c@!%!y... more
Room very small, tidy and clean but disappointed in the temperature of room.
We stayed 3 different nights in Nov. The motel is definitely showing its age, wear and tear. But for the price, we had all the amenities we needed. This included a very basic continental breakfast. Bed was very comfortable. No noise from other guests or neighbourhood. Hotel is located in less prosperous part of city. We were okay staying there as a couple. However if a single female, I would... more
Mediocre everything. Tinniest bathroom ever. Clean so I didn't mind. Hard to be picky when on a budget
dirty and disrepair are the two wrds I'd use to describe this hotel.
Front of house staff were okay but some were a bit surly. The drawer by our beds was broken, and there was an uneaten sandwich in the bottom of the chest of drawers - don't know how long it was there. The tap dripped, the hotel itself is in really bad condition (threadbare rugs, walls haven't been kept up), and the breakfast included wasn't worth it. I'd suggest paying a bit extra for a better... more
The outside of this property needs some serious cleaning and upkeep. One of the doors has a sign that warns the door may not open with the electronic key, great :( The parking lot could use a touch-up.
The hallways are very poor, dirty, dark, loose boards, badly worn paint and carpet.
I even had trouble opening the door to...

Very old, extremely small, sketchy people in halls and parking lot. Noisy at night. Wall colour literally was like a puck green. Floors were "dusty/dirty"
I stayed her for almost a week and only slept in one of the 2 beds, I started to find the bed uncomfortable so I switched only to get bitten by a bed bug. I woke up right away and found the bug. Great location but housekeeping lacks, better to tidy your own room
I'd say it was clean and decent. I consider my self not to exigent, however I spend around 10 minutes trying to find an outlet to charge my cellphone and I found just one close to the corner of the room and had to leave my cell on the floor. Another one for my computer, no way. I could be easily fixed having a lamp with an outlet included. I never found how make it warmer. Nevertheless, the... more
no hairdryers in room, washroom really small, had problems with key cards as did other guests, milk was sour on the breakfast table, hotel is old and dirty
Stayed in summer of 2013. Room had a door that was partly off it's hinges - had to be lifted to close- would have changed rooms but too tired after a long day and a long wait to check-in, Breakfast wins the prize for the worst complimentary breakfast I've experienced to date, fewest items - don't bother with it. Modest... more
Dirty and old hallways. Rooms were clean but in very poor condition. Felt like I was staying in the slums...a lot of scary looking people around. Awful.
The hotel is old, dirty, stinks of must and mildew; all before you even go into your room. The access card system is in need of repair from the exterior doors right to the room doors. We technically had a room with 2 beds like we asked for; room to walk around those beds without running over each other would have been a plus. The bathroom was not clean. The only positive thing we can say is... more
The front desk gentleman was very pleasant at check in. The sheets were good quality and the room was very clean. . The whole building could use an updating; it is a little on the old side but it was clean and thats what I liked. I came from KGH hospital and that area was quite nice; the area this motel is in felt a little run down. I was quite surprised as most of Kingston is nice. I do... more
They are REALLY small. Everything was clean but definitely no frills. Nicely displayed free breakfast is pretty much grab and go, only 3 2 seated tables to sit in the small lobby. Toast, cereal, donuts, coffee, milk and juice. Access to ice machine and vending machine, possibly use of a microwave.
Outside not appealing, inside a bit better. Looks like...

We stay at Super 8 motels regularly finding them usually a safe bet for reasonable price. However, this stay was an exception. First strange thing, the front desk had my reservation under a different address and phone number, not my own. Even though I usually book via expedia, I've never run into this before but they said it was because booked thru a 3rd party, they were using the 3rd party's... more
I didn't have a relaxing stay. At 2am in the night there were some girls running down the hallway making a lot of noise and disturbed my sleep. I also did not like the customer service and the poor options and quality of the breakfast.
Disappointed. Yes, this is a budget-friendly motel, but the hallways were rather drab and carpeting nasty. Not to be too graphic here, but the bathroom was so small, the absence of a bath mat made sense, as there was not enough floor space to put it on...I used a hand-towel on the floor, and it actually ran over into the... more
The bed was comfortable and the washroom was clean, however the common areas of the hotel are in need of a major overhaul (i.e. paint, carpet, lighting, etc).
The room and customer service were good however I think it would be beneficial to point out other services such as vending machine, ice machine. I think that it would be good to have a butt stop at the door in the middle attached to parking as many smokers were putting butts on ground. I know that a butt stop is at the entrance but the area mentioned above would be beneficial to maintain a... more
Don't expect clean & comfort room. If you want inexpensive rate only, it could be a good choice.
It's a 20 min stroll directly south to Queen's campus, or a 25 min walk down Princess (the main street) to downtown. Even better with a car - free parking and a gas station and Tim's both very close. Great value if you're looking for a clean simple place to lay your head. Not pretty or memorable, but quite satisfactory - and a welcome spot in a town with a shortage of hotel beds.
Stayed over for 1night. Room was clean even though the bathroom was tiny. Or served its purpose and I was pleased
Smallest bathroom in history, paper thin walls that you can hear your neighbours every move and get rid of the door that goes to their room. Not safe.
Within walking distance of downtown Kingston if reasonably fit. Beds were extremely comfortable and rooms quiet.
It was OK for a one night stay and you really don't want to pay for any luxury...in a nutshell, it did the trick.
Very disappointing. Too hard to get in and out of the parking. Dirty hotel. Would not stay there ever again.
Room clean. Bed very confortable. Not too noisy, had to shutdown the frig though. Hotel not to modern, carpets in corridor could be changed and not too much space for eating breakfeast. Overall nice room, nice stay.
clean room but very, very small. One person can move in room only. Was good to sleep and go. I would not want to send any leisure time in room
This is the second time to stay in Super 8 hotel and we enjoyed our 3 night stay. The facilities in the room as well as the breakfast are very good compared to the price.
Disappointed by the condition of hall carpet, locks, noise levels, tiny bathrooms. The TV entertainment center made it impossible to watch tv and work on the computer. Had to run the fan on high to dround out noise of people coming and going. I normally don't have issues with Super 8's but this one was a real let down... more
I think there is room for improving. There is discrepancy between the Super *8 I used to say and the one located in Kingston. The breakfast fall in the category of mediocre.
Thinking that the Super 8 would be simple and clean, we were terribly disappointed. The initial room given to us hadn't been cleaned. We walked all the way back to the front desk through smelly, dirty long hallways to get another key, this time going into a room that had been serviced but was in need of repair. Walls were stained, beds were well past worn, TV worked on and off, the air... more
Felt unsafe. Dark hallway. Sketchy area and patrons. Pay more somewhere else.
All the staff was friendly, the room quite clean but all very old. The breakfast was very bad. If you want to be happy, pls choose another Hotel!!
Fairly hefty price for a clean but tiny room. Hallways were not as clean and maid service was disappointing.
One Room booked had not been cleaned at all , keys did not work properly , Fleebag Motel .
Room was small for two people. Everything so close together made for awkward mobility. More attention could be paid to the dining room area... emptying the garbage can; keeping the fruit tray full and the coffee urn full.
Was arriving with family at about midnight, agent was talking to friends (or guests). Wasn't expect the atmosphere. I doubt I would go back with the family.
Inside my Room #112 there's a door which access into room #111. It's pretty cool if you have best friends staying next door to you but if your neighbours are very loud after hours, your stay can be unpleasant. Management needs to fix door so it can close properly. Door isn't closed all the way so there's a huge gap between door & door frame which cause sound to travel into ones room. If you... more
The staff were helpful as we had to ask them to let us into our rooms each and every time because the door key wouldn't work. The first room the door didn't open at all then they moved us to another room much farther away.. The beds looked clean and comfortable but the floors still had dirt from a previous guest all over it.
Clean and comfortable but very small room. Not good for anyone who needs more space.
I found the motel and furnishing looking worn and outdated. The room was crowded and the wiring raised concern. The exterior and the setting of the property did not look appealing
enjoyed our stay , friendly staff, nice location, close to Old Fort Henry, and the ac works, a fridge, micro wave and tv in room!!!
I have stayed at many Super 8's throughout North America, so when, at the end of a long trip, Super 8 came up on my list of places to book in Kingston, I jumped at it. Bad idea. The hallway carpet was so stained it was black, and smelled of urine. Our door could be pushed half open the lock... more
The area around the hotel looks a little run down. Despite the appearance, multiple locals reassured us that the area is safe. The room itself was very small, but functional. The door leading into the room required significant effort to open and close due to a misalignment of the frame. Obviously I don't expect this with the other rooms in the facility, but it reflects on the maintenance... more
Building is very old and dingy. Updates have been done cheaply. Rooms are extremely small and feel dirty. Bed was comfortable and clean. I would not stay here again.
Friendly staff. Room needs updating. Overall it wasn't as terrible as I'd originally thought upon first walking intl to the room.
Just walking into the hotel it's smelt like mildew. After the horrible walk in the tight enclosed hallways,we got to our room. It was SO tiny. The washrooms are so tiny. Think jail cell for two. In the 1960's.That's what this hotel reminded me of; it's very small and the look definitely needs to be updated. While they're at it, maybe add a flat-panel TV with a remote.Really want to spice it up? Breakfast is good. Rooms are congested. Washrooms not O.K.
Parking Lot is small. Amenties are few. So I will rate this motel as average.
A friend of mine referred me to this motel when I first moved to Kingston. He had stayed in this motel three months prior to my moving to Kingston. I had no intention of writing a review. My weekend is packed to gills with driving and things to do, and I was SUPPOSED to be asleep still, considering I had so much difficulty falling asleep and there is an 11am check out, BUT THE ROOM CLEANER IN THE HALLWAY IS SO LOUD I CANNOT SLEEP. While the front desk staff was friendly and helpful and the location was convenient, the property was less than remarkable. My room was about the size of a postage stamp with a bed even smaller. A very good reason why Tripadvisor should always be checked before booking! The Wagjag that got us this two night stay was no deal at all, at any price. [...] The front desk clerk was very rude. When I asked for directions to a specific location he slid a map to me without even trying. He was additionally confrontational on just about every request. I will never stay there again.
“I would not stay here. My kids would not stay here. It was dirty, run down and not a safe place. I am sure this hotel might have seen better days, this one is ready to be laid to rest.”
“Overall, this served it's purpose. Room could have been cleaner and there was very little space at the end of the bed to walk past the entertainment center. For some reason, they use a space heater in the room. Bathroom = VERY tiny. There was a small refrigerator which was nice. b-fast at hotel was not very vast... toast, donuts, fruit, cereal, juice and coffee.”
“My biggest problems are the numerous bites I have all on my shoulders and back and the backs of my arms from the bed. I am terribly disappointed. I am sorry but you can not really judge the book by it's cover. The pictures of the place made it look very comfortable for the price, which is why I did agree to the price. But, it is run down on the inside and the place does not smell very welcoming.”
“Nothing good to say about the hotel. space heater, VERY small room, wireless Internet didn't work, breakfast was terrible, workers working on the hotel at 7 am which was very loud. Endless complaints and I hardly ever complain about hotels!”
You get what you pay for.... Soon after my husband went to take a shower a large bug crawled out from the bathroom onto the wall. The room was very small and so was the bathroom. “The worst one ever: everything was old, poorly-managed and dirty. TV remote controller didn't work. A bunch of staple’s around the bed, which was weird. The entire towel’s worn out and had hairs stuck with them. The drain in bath tub barely worked. Not recommend.”
“Great value for the price. A great place to stay if you plan to be out and about throughout the day. Not fancy but clean and functional; nicely furnished with what is needed; friendly front desk clerk (s); loved the continental breakfast as a great way to get the day started without having to search for a place to eat.”
