You won't find the "hippest or cheapest" duds at this "Toronto institution", but the Yorkville destination for men's and women's "long-term investment clothing" (both casual and business) carries "increasingly difficult-to-find European and Canadian brands" (think Barbour before it became trendy), all "top-notch" in quality; "old-world salespeople" "bend over backward to help" and "treat... more
Century Looks
More than a century of sartorial tradition can be explored within the walls of Stollerys, which focuses on luxury clothing for men, with not a pair of jeans in sight. Suits, ties, shirts and socks are the dominant essentials, along with a third floor dedicated to women. The store features elegant corduroy, dress pants and outerwear for both genders, with an emphasis on imported...

Look, this is not a modern department store and it should not be judged as such. I was met by Frank at the door. He was very attentive to all my needs and he not only helped me find the dress shirts I was looking for, but helped me make some other great choices as well.
Other reviewers have knocked this store as being pushy. I'm not sure when being helpful and suggestive could ever become...

A wonderful store, full of old world charm. If you are looking for the usually snappy, chic, boutique service, you won't find it here. Real gents and ladies who are true old school professionals are here to help. Yes, the service may seem quaint to those of us used to a more modern shopping experience, but let's be honest - you can get that kind of thing anywhere in the city. Some reviewers... more
I came here to buy a gift. The minute that I walked in I sensed a cold and unwelcoming vibe from the staff. I was relieved when a staff member ---a middle aged woman--- approached me after she saw me looking at some of the scarves. My relief however would soon turn to shock.
I explained to her that I was looking for a woollen scarf that was more clean cut as opposed to the classic blurred...

My husband and I visited Stollery's for the first time last week. I was there to purchase a Barbour jacket during their sale. Alan was the salesperson who helped me pick my jacket and was very patient and helpful while I tried on a few. We had a great experience, primarily because of Alan and were also assisted in part by two other salespeople. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stollery's and... more
Let me be clear, I only went into Stollery's to get my girlfriend to try on their line of Barbour jackets. I wasn't actually going to buy anything. After reading the below reviews, I didn't think this little "in and out" would go by smoothly. I felt a little trepidation, in fact. Yet, I had some confidence that I would be able to handle even the most aggressive salesperson.
Anyway, we walked...

I went there to buy a suit for my brother's wedding. I was ready to drop anywhere from $500-$1000, as this will be the my first suit and the only suit I'll have for 10 years, and I need it a) to last b) to look great. I'm willing to spend if it's quality.
The salesman basically asked me my price range and the kind of suit I was looking for (a dark charcoal, not shiny but matte). He led me to...

Over priced and snobby staff.
The staff couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day. I guess I didn't fit into their classification of a proper customer. So I wandered around aimlessly for a few minutes, almost bought a shirt, but decided I didn't want to give them my business.
I only shop at the discount outlet in the basement where their prices aren't ridiculous. The staff are extremely pushy because their survival literally depends upon them making that sale. You can see the disappointment in their faces when you say "thank you, I'll think about it."
The staff don't know anything about style. They don't know the difference between warm and cool colours. They will...

hmm, well I was looking for a Barbour jacket, a lady was " HELPING" me ( long hair, sandy blonde older lady ) when the fit was to big, she insist to tell me it's great ??? C'mon lady.
Then she showed me a girl's cropped jacket..saying it'll fit smaller...what the hell ??? ( obviously i'll fit smaller, how about a baby jacket ? )
The best thing is, she was giving me that girl's jacket but her...

Sure, they have interesting stuf, most of it British, and some of it reasonably priced--at least by Toronto standards. But customer service sucks more often than not. On my last visit, a lady who works there sneered at my jeans--I guess I should've worn a tuxedo. She was rude and condescending. I will probably not buy there again.
UPDATED: I made the mistake of coming back. The manager, a...
