Went in there to grab a pair of training shoes only to find no one to help me. I then approached the front counter to get some assistance, but I was given attitude and it took 5 minutes for someone to come over. Even then, the guy seemed unwilling to help and without checking told me that the shoe I wanted was not available in my size.

Better selection of sports equipment than a gas station convenience store, but less helpful service. Staff is either completely untrained, or just don't care.

I keep telling myself not to shop at Sport Chek. Despite my better judgment I went to Sport Chek Park Royale to buy pedals and shoes for my road bike. I eventually found a tech in the bike area and he sold me this gear after I asked that he confirm the pedals and shoes were comparable. This place has by far, some of the worst customer service EVER. And i am not including the upstairs Atmosphere though...just downstairs where people condescend if they show up at all.
When I asked for the fitting rooms, I was told, in a snotty tone, that they are "where that large sign that says "fitting rooms" are". Which was hidden around the corner but, you know, thanks for that!

I'm back from the beaches of Mexico, to find myself dropping 40 degrees to the icy cold climate of the great white north. My first stop was Sport Chek to get some gym pants, so my walk to work in the morning wouldn't leave my sun-burnt legs frostbitten, wind chilled and cracked.

Good selection of general sporting goods, clothes and shoes. They have a lot of good sales usually and don't forget your Entertainment book coupon for even further discount! Cheaper than some other shops. Eg. I've gone to North Face on Granville and put a $200 rain jacket on hold and went to Sport Chek and found the same one on sale for under $150 and got another $10 off with a coupon. $50... more

We were told by the W Broadway location that a snowboard bag with wheels would be in stock/available at this location. Not so. Despite that, one of the sales associates looked up where such a bag might be found and called that branch for us. While he was on hold, he also told us of other stores nearby that would have it (which they did!)

This Sport Chek is the conjoined twin of Coast Mountain Sports. I've only visited for the Coast Mountain products and four-times-out-of-five been disappointed in what I've found. Or more accurately not found.

On separate occasions I've stopped by looking to purchase:
1. A handheld GPS for hiking: They only carry the ultra high end models and not the more basic Garmin I wanted.

The sheer size of the mountain gear this place has is amazing. The closest thing we have in the U.S. is REI, but this place is the snow sports section of REI on steroids. Everything from Volcom lightweight jackets to Northface -40 degree down parkas, Sport Chek had everything we needed or more aptly, left in California.

Sport Chek is on one floor and Coast Mountain Sports is on another. Some how this division by floors makes it easier for me to shop here than at other locations like the one at Metrotown. I'm sure it's all in my head, but I like the illusion of two separate stores as opposed to one giant mish mash of a store. Check the sales racks.
