I ordered a chilli chicken from here with hot and sour soup and a spicy noodle dish, not one of these dishes tasted the way they were supposed to and I was very disappointed with my food.

I came for take-out based on the great reviews. I found that the food was too heavy, saucy and deep fried. It was totally swimming in grease. Took 2 and a half hours to deliver food. No one would answer when I tried to call back to find out what happened to my order, so I ordered from another place. When the driver showed up with what I can assume was cold two hour old food. He was rude and not understanding of me not wanting the meal at this point. I have eaten here before and the food is ok, but I will not be ordering from them again.

The lunch special is one of the best deals in the area. Hot and sour soup is always a pleasure. For the main I like the spicy peanut chicken or the hot beef and vegetables -- the beef is always really tender and the veg includes some good leafy Chinese greens.

What irritates me more is when we were getting the bill, the owner told us their credit card machine system was not working properly so we need to pay with debit or cash and after we told him that we don't have cash or debit card at the moment the credit card machine was magically working once again.

This place is really not for me, but if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that offers really good food this is the place to be.
The sauces are a bit heavy so if you don't like sauces that have a lot of salt in it, I wouldn't recommend it.

This to me has been an icon for over 15 years.

We even held a customer event at this venue several times as it was just that good.

Their value in the Chinese food chain is that they offer Hakka. Hakka is where the Chinese emigrated to India and used local spices in their tradition dishes.

Never ever again. I used to go there a lot for the ginger beef. Other dishes were always decent. Today though, the ginger beef was just ok, the Chinese broccoli was cold and gray. I've been going to this restaurant for as long as I can remember and they've got great hakka. Faves for me: chilli chicken (dry or with sauce), chicken corn soup, and the fried rice. Definitely worth a try. Most of the servers speak Hindi too, true hakka styles.

The rice they serve is Patna Rice which is cheap! Instead of long grain rice which all Chinese restaurants serve everywhere. The chicken was smelly and unappetizing. Delighted to find several appealing options that appealed to our party. As the token vegetarian in the group, I loved the spicy peanut tofu and resented any requests by the others for samples. Highly recommended!

My friend took me there last night because he said that he went often so I said sure why not. We ordered 4 dishes, fried dumplings, crispy chilli chicken, spicy shrimp and stir fried Chinese broccoli.

The Spadina Garden restaurant has some of the best Chinese food I have tasted outside of China and it can be made to whatever level of spiciness you want.

Hot and Sour Soup to die for

I NEVER miss a visit to this restaurant when I go to Toronto. The Szechuan is full of flavour and very spicy. If you do not like spicy food, then you may not care for this place, but the General Tao chicken is like nowhere I've ever been and the spicy ginger beef is heavenly.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the Toronto police officers as they go there quite a lot apparently! Had lovely chinese meal, really friendly and reasonably priced. It was located on dundas street, between Bay and Chestnut, so about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Spadina Garden came highly recommended by several friends. Unfortunately our experience did not live up to the hype.

All of the dishes were swimming in oil to the point of being almost inedible, overly salty, underwhelming, and one dimensional.

When our seven dishes all arrived within 10 minutes of ordering, I knew we were not being served freshly prepared food. Buffet restaurants that let food sit out in pans under heat lamps serve better quality food.

It doesn't matter how many times you call Spadina Garden - the service is always rude and the food is never delivered. It's always 30 minutes away with them. But it never arrives.
