Great value for your money

This small neighbourhood restaurant has wonderful service and great meals. There are many choices and the food is good. Arrive early to eat the evening meal as it was full at 6 pm. If you are a senior you get 3 sides and dessert with your meal- fabulous.

After reading some of the reviews, we were thoroughly disappointed with our brunch visit. While the service was extremely friendly, food took over 40 minutes to be delivered. Very good food and and friendly service. Breakfast came fast even though the restaurant was very busy. The menu prices are good. This is a neighborhood gem!

I wasn't particulary impressed with the portions after hearing the hype, and the steak was not properly cooked. What I got was grey and bland and not as good as people had made it out to be.

Home made good food, with fantastic service everytime

This place has great food, usually really busy, but the service is always fantastic! Lots to pick from on the menu, good fair prices, and homely atmosphere, great place to take kids as well. Cute colouring pages! Hubby's fav is the hot beef with pan fries! I pick something different everytime.

DELICIOUS FOOD, EXCELLENT SERVICE, and GREAT HOSPITALITY, . Was never disappointed. All staff are always, friendly and courteous. If you haven't been there before I highly recommend you give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

The disappointment was the fries. No coleslaw no nothing for adornment, The fries were almost white on a white plate. Serving homemade fries is a no brainer in my opinion when running a restaurant. The fries served to us were of the frozen bag variety and it made the meal unfortunately predictable. It was a meal that was just ok, nothing great just ok. Service and cleanliness was very good.

Exceptional customer service. Fast effective and friendly. The food was great, no complaints. Busy at times and might have to wait but its well worth it.

Go for the service and the soup but skip the pot pie!

The service was great and the homemade soup was terrific but the main dish of turkey pot pie was seriously lacking.

Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant

We live in the area and the Southdale Village Family Restaurant is our favourite local restaurant. The meals are always great and our reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly. Their homemade soup and bread pudding desert are must haves! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Had the classic breakfast which was awesome. Real food not factory food like the chains. Also had the Beef Quesadilla which actually had real beef. They were happy to offer the breakfast and lunch menus at the same time. This restaurant has very good food and excellent customer service. They have daily soups and they are all incredible. The place is always busy but you never have to wait long for your meal. Definitely recommend it.

This is how I feel about this place, adequate. Saw all the positive reviews so took the father for birthday dinner. Food was good enough, but nothing great, and it was expensive for the most part. $18 for chicken souvlaki and all you get is 1 skewer with 6 small pieces of chicken??

portions and price

Wow. The portion sizes are large and definately surprised me considering the prices (super affordable). The restaurant was "somewhat" busy yet there appeared to be only one server and one hostess? One of my regular stops!

Though the decor perhaps leaves something to be desired, I am a frequent visitor of the Southdale Family Restaurant because of the quality food and great service. The soups are delicious and are always changing. Try the Dill Pickle soup sometime - it's SO good. The servers are always friendly and attentive, even if the place is busy, which it usually is. I've never had a bad experience there.

Riding back to California from Detroit on our Ultra Harley, my wife and I had first stopped at the Harley dealership to buy her an extra layer of clothes since it was freezing cold in mid-June! I have been here only twice but both times the service has been exceptional. The Homemade Turkey Burger on the menu is interesting as it is not ground turkey but rather real turkey meat that they shred and mix together with seasonings etc, served on a kaiser bun with lettuce, tomato and creamy dill dijon sauce.
