I read good reviews about this place, so my friend and I came here for lunch. It's very dingy and old looking inside and out, but the prices are cheap and you don't need to dress up. Sonja's got a good review in the Winnipeg Free Press a while back so a couple of buddies and I tried it for breakfast last week. The breakie special was the standard 2 eggs, toast and choice of meat. On Henderson Highway near the turn off to Redwood Bridge, you will find Sonya's Restaurant on the west side of the street. There is ample parking on the street beside it. There's been a lot of noise generated lately about Sonya's so I had to make a visit to see what the truth there was to all the chatter.
This is a well-used family restaurant matched by a hard working owner.
Rough and tumble seating, wall photos, signs, and floors are immediately comforting because it's like so many restaurants of years...

Gave it a try about a week ago. Burger and fries were best I have ever had in Winnipeg, and I am a senior. Burger had the nice crunchy outside and nice juicy thickness, not too thick, not too thin. If anything, it would have been good to put the bun down on the flattop so it would get warm... more
