OH what a view!!!!

The only way to really see the surrounding area, feel the wind pushing you back, as you try to go around the tower to see the view from all angles. Conquer your fear of heights here!!!!

Don't think a trip to Niagra Falls would be complete without a trip to the observation area. Very interesting way to see the area.

You have to do this!

Amazing rotating dinnertime view of the falls in the evening. Good food, some little shops inside while you wait to be whisked up in the elevator. At night, when the falls are lit up it's spectacular.

If you eat there, the entrance fee is waived, and the restaurant is at the top floor--so I don't see why anyone would go there without eating at the restaurant.

Although not as high as the CN Tower in Toronto, Skylon Tower gave a super view of the Falls! We were given a limited time at this sight, but due to having to wait in line to go up and wait in line to come down, we were late getting back to our shuttle. Always a sucker for lift rides up a tower - this one was no exception. Cost I think was just under 12 dollars (free if you are having a meal in the restaurant) but was included anyway in our excursion from Toronto with Chariots of Fire trip (see transportation tip).

The best view anyplace in this area is atop Skylon Tower. At 520 feet, the Tower stands 775 feet above the water. Its observation deck has a restaurant and bar, as well as shops. And the ground floor has a huge game arcade. If you visit just one place on the Canadian side, it should be this.

Go for the view

The Skylon Tower is a restaurant you go to knowing that the food will be so-so, but the view will be fabulous. I wasn’t disappointed. Being able to sit in a rotating restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls was worth the high price and the mediocre food. We went for the early sitting special, $35 each if you book at 4:30 or 5 p.m. Prices are significantly higher after 5 p.m.

Scarey 'ladybug' lifts that travel up the outside of the building. Brilliant view of the falls from the top. Great photo opportunity.

Nice 360 view and interesting tidbits of information/history regarding the surroundings. We went at night so couldn't see too much. Contemplated going to the resaurant, but the menu didn't seem worth the money. If you're low on time or money, skip it. It's nice, but I wouldn't consider it a must. And it's not exactly cheap. We had a free ticket to halve our expenses!

The tower rises to 236 metres (775 feet) above the base if the Horseshoe Falls.
Ride in one of the outdoor 'Bug' elevators up to the observation deck for fabulous views of the river and the falls.
A rather expensive revolving restaurant is also up the tower, and a number of shops are in the base.

Modeled after Seattle's Space Needle, this structure was opened in 1964. It stands approximately 520 feet and is the tallest building in Niagara (not for long - there are hotel expansions in the works for this city!). You can ride the yellow exterior glass elevator to the obsevation deck for phenomenal views of the falls or relax with a meal in the revolving restaurant.

For some great aerial views without going flying take a ride to the top of the Skylon Tower. You can just visit the observation tower, or dine at the rotating resturant. I haven't been up the Skylon Tower, I just took a picture because I liked the lights of it so much :-) But I imagine that the views from the observation deck must be something similar to the Minolta Tower (see my previous tips) so probably worth while doing so. As I had already been to the observation deck of the Minolta Tower I decided to skip this one.

The Skylon Tower is one of those places that you have to visit when at Niagara, for the views from up high if nothing else.

They have a shop here selling all the usual tack!! The views are something else, and the lift is scary as it travels up and down!!

Ride the glass elevator to the top and look at breathtaking views of the city and the falls. Enjoy fine dining at the revolving restaurant at the top.

A trip to the top of the Skylon Tower is a must for a panoramic view of both Falls. A combination ticket for the Imax movie and the Skylon Tower observation deck is available and saves you a few dollars.

One of the few attractions in Niagara Falls worth paying for is the Skylon Tower. From the observation deck high above the ground you'll have a spectacular view of both the American and Horseshoe Falls. One word of caution though: In the winter it can be absolutely brutal up there, so bring warm clothes!

The Minolta Tower is another tower with a restaurant which offers nice views as well, but it is not quite as tall..
