Arrived on a very hot Sunday evening. Snowblower in hallway and no noticeable air con. Two small fans on desk didn't help.much. Decor school cafeteria. Only one other table occupied so it was pleasantly quiet. Radio on for ambiance. Last time I was here I had lemon chicken which was average. This time my spouse insisted I try his favorite... more
This restaurant has been open since 1982 which says something about the quality. I stopped in for a takeout lunch and the staff were friendly. I ordered the Satay Tofu dish as I have been trying out vegetarianism and I found it pretty good. I might have got them to spice it up a little too much . Most dishes... more
Been going here for 15+ years. Best Peanut sauce in the world! Their curry shrimp and chicken is also fantastic.
A nice family run restaurant. The food is excellent. The chicken with cilantro as well as the singapore fried noodles. The hot and sour soup is also tasty.
I've been visited the country of Singapore many times. I expect there is chicken rice at this Singapore restaurant. I guess the name just the name. Food is just ok, just something different but I am not crazy about it
Hadn't been to the Singapore in about 4 or 5 years. Remarkably the same waiter and owner were around (after decades.) (still friendly).
My coworkers got the laksa, as is usually the case. I have never tried it yet. I got a curry dish - not exactly what I was expecting but it was ok. I should have chosen something...

Tasty Malaysian cuisine a mix of Chinese, Malay. Lots of spices and curry. I've been eating there (and getting takeout) for years. Very tasy food, friendly service.
My co-workers and I have been eating here for many years, and it is one of my favourite Asian restaurants in Ottawa. ever since my colleagues first brought me here years ago, before the restaurant even moved to the current location.
It is hidden away in a little building across from the Coliseum cinemas and would be easy to miss...

The service was excellent, thank you Andrew. While the food was good, the atmosphere needs serious work. Cost vs quality was a little on the high side but acceptable. Not sure I'd come back because so many other places serve similar dishes with much better atmosphere! But worth a first try no doubt about it.
I have been going to this restaurant for about 12 years now. It is by far my favourite place to eat. It is a Malaysian style cooking which is culmination of Malay, Chinese and Indian food. Not everything is hot and spicy but I do like hot and my #1 dish is the Curry Beef hot. Their #1 seller however,... more
We haven't been here in years, but went back tonight. The food was incredibly good - we had the curry chicken with cilantro and the satay pork. Both tasty and interesting dishes. The place is utilitarian looking, but quiet and pleasant, the staff is friendly and the food stays in your memory. I can't wait to eat my leftovers.
I love Singapore food, so i really thought this restaurant would be a treat. the staff was very pleasant but i am afraid the positive stops here. i curry puffs, they were poorly shaped deepfried meat dumplings without any flavour short of the oil.
The laksa was rather plain, meehoon was used as a poor substitute to large yellow noodles...

They have great latksa! For the longest time I thought the restaurant name was "Latksa" until i final got a chance to go. The Singapore has great latksa - can't speak to anything else on the menu because this is what you come here for. The owner is very friendly and the service is very good. The decor - well... more
We've been going to the Singapore for many years. Love the sate and the fried noodles. Very homey atmosphere and friendly staff.
I have never written a review like this...but this was really awful
We were super excited about this restaurant based on the other reviews we read...but after trying the food, I cannot imagine how these reviews were impartial. I am suspicious because we were told the restaurant was very busy when we ordered our takeout, but when we went to...

The Singapore Restaurant is our first choice in Ottawa for top-notch food and service with very good prices, and especially if we are going to a movie on the other side of Carling Avenue. Top marks for spring rolls, any soup, sizzling pork and chicken, beef with black bean sauce, and the noodles, yum-yum. Dang, so much for dinner at... more
This is a long standing family favourite. We have been going for at least 15 years and the food is mouthwatering and delicious every time. The lemon chicken, satay and deep friend bananas with ice cream are family favourites. Shrimp dishes and beef with black bean sauce are other great choices. You can't go wrong with this place.
This is my favourite restaurant in town. I almost always order the Lakksa, but they do everything else very well.
I travelled to Singapore, and tried to find a Lakksa to match the one at the Singapore Restaurant, and was very disappointed! A friend who lives in Singapore says they haven't found one to match this one either...

Well it is not very fancy, but the food is amazing. Spring roll, curry puff, satay (which comes with your own grilling pot with a fire to heat the chicken), Laksa were all amazing. Very tasty, real and homemade. sauces were incredible. Service was super easy going, informal, fun. The guy who runs the place has a good sense of... more
I already ordered an appetizer while waiting for my friend, when we realized we were in two different spots. We're both glad she came and joined me.
The chicken & shrimp satay was excellent, and so was the cilantro bean curd and sweet & sour chicken. The spring rolls are the best I've had, and dessert is always the perfect...

Tried the Laksa...even though its not Singapore Laksa, its very tasty nevertheless.
We love the Laksa and curry puffs. A must to try when you are in Ottawa. We have been going there ever since the restaurant opened over 20 years ago.
My favourite restaurant in Ottawa!! I've been going for 10 years, and my hubby has been going ever since it opened about 20 years ago.
We usually both order satay salad with the most AWESOME peanut sauce dressing, laksa, and either lemon chicken or sesame chicken. I occasionally go with something other than laksa, but no matter what I get,...

Definitely an all-time favourite in Ottawa. The curry puffs are great, as is the lemon chicken. Staff is always very friendly and accomodating. I recommend getting the satay (which you cook yourself on the table) and also the singapore salad, which has a fantastic peanut dressing. well worth a visit from any corner of the city.
This is my perennial favorite place for something exotic that has become familiar. Try their Laksa - shrimp and chicken vermicelli in a curry broth - modified from the Penang style but very special nonetheless.
Satay is a nice appetizer. Curry puffs are spicy and yum. Lemon chicken is succulent and mouth-watering. Spicy orange chicken is wonderfully served on a...
