L'endroit est très chic, avec des tons de bourgogne, donnant au lieu un caractère à la fois rustique et moderne. Situé dans le Vieux Montréal, un lieu parfait pour prendre un verre entre amis !
This was a great little find in Montreal! Came here to dinner with the family and there was something for everyone. We had agedashi tofu (which came with the most delicious dashi), the pork ribs, spicy chicken wings, black gyoza, beef skewers, ebi don and chirashi. Everything was full of flavor and the flavor combinations were wonderful. The ambience inside was great with touches of different... plus
Came here on a Saturday night for the final dinner of a bachelor party. What a great decision. Food amazing:
- Black Gyoza: Delicious!
- KFC: Brilliant and tender
- Short Rib: Delicious
- Ribs: omg fall off the bone yum
- Don Shrimp Rice - excellent with a nice crunch
- Mochi Brownie Icecream - excellent
- Takoyaki: so good and hot and cheesy
The drinks were great, my Asahi was served in a...

Excellent Izakaya style (Japanese small plates). Definitely a notch or two above any I've tried before. You can see the Old Montreal bones of the place, but it has been decorated beautifully in a Japanese rustic style, with a nod or two to Hatori Hanzo's bar in Kill Bill. The red tuna dish and the bacon-wrapped rice "gnocchi" were our favourites. Tried the eggplant as our last dish and it was... plus
Super surprise we got a good Izakaya here in Montreal!
The choices of food are quite good and the price is pretty decent. My first order was the chicken ramen which was a little bit too salty for my taste. The second time I ordered was the Tako caré don for takeout and they substitute the octopus for shrimps which still tasted great but the price was 2$ more from the original takeout menu.

Came here tonight with coworkers, was enticed by the good reviews and the $$ rating. Some disappointments: the plates are tapas size, there is no ramen in summer time. Some highlights: the plates were pretty well done. I had the terriyaki skewers, fried chicken, gomae (gai lan veggie dish) and rice, total with tip was 34$. If you compare with Chinatown or Concordia hood, its $$$$ for what I ate... plus
Located in old port, this place was on a point with decor. Great selection of Japanese food and tasted amazing. I went there for my birthday and we were a group of 10. The waitress offered us a tasting menu for 35$ each. It was so worth it !!! Need to mention also that the cocktails were amazing as well ! The karage "KFC" chicken was LEGIT !!! CRISPY outside and so so tender inside ! That 35$... plus
There is nothing ordinary about this place but the price!
Everything we had was excellent!
We had kfc, himachi, edamame and the brisket!
The brownie on the dessert menus was awesome!
We came here for late night snacks. It was a great casual but vibrant spot for well crafted drinks and yummy food. We especially loved the KFC wings!
This place is a no brainer! Cute little Izakaya in the old port! Cool modern and hip decor with a little bit of old port charisma with the stone walls. The food is top notch! But most importantly for me???? The service is absolutely amazing. From the hosts to bar staff!
I give Hanzo 5 stars for food, management and decor.
As far as thematic restaurants go, Hanzo is a tier above the rest. The restaurant is a beautiful ode to "Kill Bill," complimented by delicious small dishes and very friendly service.
I think their dishes compliment each other quite well. Their bacon wrapped mochi is wonderfully salty, a nice contrast to their delicate sashimi or tender duck hearts. If you want a bit more flavour, opt for their...

Overpriced trying to catch the izakaya wave but it's not particularly authentic.
Drinks are ok.
Good service
Amazing experience!! Khoi, our server, was sooo nice and very attentive to our demands! We had the tasting menu and it surpassed all our expectations!!
I randomly saw an add on a social media outlet advertising the first izakaya in Old Montreal so I decided that was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday! I generally love the food and the vibe of an izakaya so I had high expectations.
First off, I knew we would be around 20 people so I contacted someone weeks ahead to confirm that they had a table for me the day I wanted. The response was...

Hanzo Izakaya is a great addition to what is traditionally considered a "touristy" area of Montreal. Despite this, I definitely recommend that locals check it out if you're in the area.
The vibe and ambiance is awesome being inspired by Kill Bill, which should please fans of the movie and of Japanese fare in general.
That being said food is what will make me come back. Last visit I had the...

Amazing tasting menu! Enjoyed every dish they served. Our server Khoi was amazing and gave great recommendations to places and things to do around town! Would definitely recommend and come back!
Great food! The beef tartare was just perfect. Tremendous ambiance! Service was top-notch, ask for Koi!
I've been to a lot of different izakaya, but I've never been to one with this type of atmosphere! The setting was more modern and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It did get a little noisy as people were shouting and counting down for the sake bomb, but I loved the bar scenery and how cozy it got. All of the dishes are small, great for sharing and having a little dinner with drinks. I highly... plus
I went to this restaurant on their second day if opening with a Foodie friend. We ended up ordering Hamachi Sashimi, crab croquettes with à big Mac like sauce, a Mushroom dish (my favorite!), soft Tofu with a caramel sauce and takoyaki. We waited to long to eat the Takoyaki and it ended up being a bit soggy and oily. They also had very interesting cocktails. As it W's their second night and a... plus
This place is a gem. Yasmine our server was incredibly awesome and sweet. The beauty of tapas style food is that while the portions are small, we were able to try a good majority of the food menu. The hamachi sashimi, kani korokke, duck hearts were my top three favorites. Dashi Nasu, black gyoza, Jimami cold tofu, and KFC were quite exceptional as well. Overall, the menu felt very authentic... plus
Great new place in the Old Port. We wanted to try something new and decided to give this a shot after seeing some good reviews. It was totally worth it. First thing we noticed was the solid music and festive (but not too clubby) atmosphere. A lot of others places in the Old Port seemed to be mini night clubs with door men, etc, but this was definitely more of a bar/restaurant feel. Some food... plus
This place is great, awesome staff, great food and an amazing place to hang out with friends!! A must come when you are in Montreal!!!!
The service at this place not only exceeds incredible, making it phenomenal, but it also goes beyond what a restaurant should be! It is a place where the bartenders, servers, and all staff legitimately care about making your night the best you've had in Montreal. Would highly recommend coming here whether on vacation or as a local.
Were we on the set of "Kill Bill" tonight, or was it actually one of Old Montreal's coolest new Japanese Izakaya's? Each dish served was a unique discovery, and completely delectable. Coupled with eclectic cocktails & crazy good desserts, our lovely "hosutesu" for the night, Yuri, made sure to make our experience one worth boasting about!
Congrats to Yann Levy & the rest of his crew for...

Cool stuff in a cool ambiance! In old mtl!Kill bill mode ON! Montreal japanese food scene in expansion!Black gyoza, crab korokke, kombini fried chicken, nagano pork neck + sapporo Caramel! #hadoken!
Beautiful Izakaya in the heart of old Montreal, with a wide selection of cocktails as well as sake bombs! As with any Japanese bar, it's recommended to try at least 2-3 plates per person, and oh boy, the flavour combinations were out of this world amazing! The vegan options are plentiful, the waiter even slipped in an extra vegan dish that wasn't on the menu, a lovely vegan gyoza appetizer. I... plus
I went to Hanzo Izakaya on the second day of the soft opening. this is the first Izakaya restaurant to open in Old Montreal. Located next door from Mandy's, you can reach in minutes from Metro Square victoria OACI. The restaurant decor largely resembles that of the owner's other businesses: Biiru and Gokudo: classy. I absolutely love the ambiance- as neon shaped lions light a dimly lit... plus
We popped into Santos for a glass of wine and a few dishes of taps style food. I can't really say anything positive about the experience. It was definitely priced a little high taking advantage of the tourist area and the food was edible but our least favourite of our visit to Old Montreal. Lots of better spots on Rue... plus
Love this place whenever I'm in Montreal I love to stop in for some tapas and sangria the ambiance is great and the crowd is young and lively. Definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a killer meal and good times
After 11 p.m., this turns into a boisterous bar scene. Not a lot of room for dancing but the young and hip pack the place and the music is loud and the drinks are flowing. There is no cover and the crowd seems to turn over quickly so you can find a place to perch. If you're wanting to check... plus
Crowded, cool music, and tin ceilings make this a fun place for a drink and a bite to eat after work. I had their guacamole and chips and the fish tacos. Very tasty. Small portions. Decent wine list. The bartender had an attitude- but it you're pretty and work in a hip bar, I guess you get to have an... plus
The service was great! Food hit and miss. Alcohol drinks great. For a appetizer only restaurant, they really need to add more choices to the menu, more interesting, different appetizers. Appetizers are costly when you buy many. Their appetizers range from 6$-14$ each. And some where extremely small. But definetly recommend the foie gras grilled cheese. And beef tartar. The... plus
Went for a 5-7 with work, we had the upstairs balcony reserved for us, ceiling was low and space was small but all in all a great place for 20 people no more
I came to restaurant with friend of mine after work. THe place is really nice and it gets busy after 6pm. Please notice that kitchen is open at 6pm. So you left with bar. I recommend raspberry mojito as a drink. The food is delicious: we shared Salmon Tartar, Paella and beef ribs. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Like... plus
Too overpriced for essentially eating appetizers as dinner. We paid over $80 for four tapas plates, which wouldn't fill an anorexic super-model. We left to eat proper dinner. Plus, the service was slow.
The live music was good and customers were dancing.
About 30 of us from work went for my "retirement" 5 to 7. Althoug reserved weeks in advance, they had for us an area in the middle of the place, near the bar. Of course, when people really started coming in, they would have to walk through our group. This being a Tuesday, their special for the ladies is 2... plus
Nice cocktail list and great vibe after diner !!
We stayed there all night and enjoyed the vibe !!
Food was not bad at all !!
This upperscale tapas bar lounge is deceiving. I really like it at its beginning but it's now overrated and the people there are treating people like shiiit. Unless you know someone working there. It's not the place to go.
My wife and I stopped here for dinner on a Friday night, attracted by the cool vibe and energetic music. We had paella, lobster nachos, spare ribs, chicken fajitas, and a tomato, cucumber & mozzarella salad, one cocktail each and a bottle of wine. We found all the dishes to be fresh, delicious, and plentiful (for tapas). The service was... plus
I used to go to Santos every month during 2012. Lot of things did change since then (including food quality, dJ, etc). If you're looking for a club it's a nice dancing place (even that on the night we chose, it was average)
I have to say for tapas, this place is WAY overpriced- food and drinks included.

One of the most disappointing nights out ever. Starting from the doorman down to when it was time to pay the bill. Doorman was very disrespectful yelling and swearing the waitress overcharged me by 60 dollars on my bill so GREEDY not a good experience
We just dropped in after a stroll around the old city. We had a few drinks and some calamari. It was nice, friendly and pretty busy. The food was hot and good. Drinks were very good and service was good. We must have hit a good time to stop by.
We just happened upon this place on a Friday night, and were very glad we did. We were given a nice little table upstairs in the balcony-type area. The DJ for the evening seemed a little zealous with the volume on music which competed with the voices of the diners. The food, however, was fantastic.m flavor was great and the... plus
My friend chose this trendy place for her birthday thinking the prices looked reasonable. Inside, the decor is very hip, the atmosphere was very cool. We were in Montreal for a meeting and decided to look for a place to have a light dinner on Friday night. We walked into the old city and stopped at Santos because it looked nice and we were cold. The look and atmosphere of this resto is cool, with a vast assortment of yummy mojitos but the drinks and food were overpriced. Checked out Santos after work with co-workers in old Montreal and it was a really funky place with cool beats. The food was okay, nothing special....but definitely a hip and funky place to hang out for drinks!
I visit Montreal a lot and had some free time for the evening and it was recommended to me by a local (Now I know she has a horrible taste) while I was enjoying my time on Saint Laurent, I have been to many places in Montreal and others worldwide but this place is really really bad overall. First, the bouncer outside with his obnoxious attitude allows only his friends to get in and out all the... plus
Service was quick, food was delicious, and wine was great. All the staff look great but they should put a smile on their face, otherwise, Its just not cute.
After dinner drinks and tapas. Wait staff a little lacking in attention to patrons. Pricey for drinks, decent $ for food.
The vibe of this restaurant is very cool; it's busy and lively and they play electronic music. Although super busy, they were able to accommodate two people on a walk-in at 9pm on a Sat night!
The menu wasn't overly extensive, but the selection was decent. However, when we ordered, two of the five things we ordered they had run...

Located in the Old Port, its a trendy Tapas bar. We went a bit earlier and the service was good. The menu is small and pricey, we had the pork tacos, chicken & bean platter and a salad. drinks are slightly more expensive. however very fun atmosphere and nice decor.
Great owner, great atmosphere, awesome tunes! I frequent Santos 3-5 times a year and can honestly say I have a great time every time I'm there. The owner Thomas is a great guy and the food is very good.
More a bar than a restaurant. Serving tapas type servings of not so great food (with uncheap prices). Very, very loud music, at nightclub levels that you can feel thump-thumping in your chest. So, let's just say, not for everyone. On plus side, service was very cheery and
Personable.
Tried this place after another place nearby failed our expectations for good food. We were a party of three.
Our waiter took our drink order and left menus. When he came back we asked what he would recommend food, he said, "Do you trust me?". We took a chance on what he would order and we were glad we did!...

We read many articles about this lounge on the web, and expected a nice, fashionable, hip place: it was all the opposite. It is a has-been, drunk people, pretentious place!
