Room was very warm on arrival. When I later moved the night table to get my glasses I was disappointed to see that it had been a long time since it was vacuumed. The fan in the bathroom was very poor. None of the clocks had been reset daylight saving time even afyer a request to do so. The shower also had low water pressure. Stains on the ceiling just added to the total. Not impressed.

Mediocre at best

I stayed for 8 nights. On arrival I requested no cleaning of room unless I asked for it. The room was cleaned every day. I had to have my room key re-programmed 3 times in those 8 nights. Terrible. Unknown charges. Argued about how I booked room with more guests but unable to change from 1 guest to 4 guests in my app on my phone.1 person in group Got in trouble for not wearing shoes when mulitple ppl weren't wearing shoes. Just bunch of horse poop.

Room was a bit worn down, but fine experience

I did not expect this hotel to be luxurious, and it wasn't. My expectation of having a clean bathroom and a clean bed with no annoying smells was satisfied. I loved the helpfulness of the staff, their attitude to the clients offsets the fact that the hotel facilities are not in the best shape.

Close to Rexall Place

We went to a concert at Rexall Place so the location was excellent. We could have walked had we known how close. Check in-out was very easy. Front desk was quite helpful. My biggest complaint was the smell. The hotel smells like stale cigarettes. A/c helped with the smell in our room, we were able to sleep.

Renovation Central

They were in the middle of a huge renovation, leaving no parking for their guests. The room was quite uncomfortable ( the beds were like sleeping on plywood). I chose this hotel because fo its location and price, but we will not be returning.

room surprisingly quiet despite the busy local. Very comfortable. Breakfast good with friendly waitress. Front desk not so friendly even a tad chaotic. Hotel environs sub par. Hint of cigarette smoke throughout.

On that night it was terribly hot at night so it was so uncomfortable to sleep. I have never had such situation in the hotel of 3 stars. The people are kind enough to try to please us but it was different the problem that hotel has.

Although undergoing major exterior construction the hotel was very nice for the short amount of time we were there. Location is great. But very smoky smelling at night.

Bad feeling at 1st

We were there for Luke Bryan concert. When we got there we regretted our booking but once in the hotel, the staff were lovely. The rooms are awesome for the price; very comfortable bed. At night they have a pub, the food is nothing fancy but once again very decent for the price! Thank you Sands hotel staff! Good luck in the future and with the renovations. Luc

OK hotel in a dodgy area

It was okay. The room was relatively small. 2nd floor is no smoking, but first floor's is... so smoke was creeping up to the 2nd floor. Ice machine didn't work. Outdoor was under construction.

This hotel is walking distance from Rexall and is why we picked it. It's not great, it's not horrible. I would stay again, but not for a nice trip, just for the convenience. Not vary comfortable

I found the hotel bed vary uncomfortable and the sheets wore not clean. the wall were paper thin so you could hear everything your neighbor are up to. I did not enjoy my stay

1. Bathroom Ventilator fan doesn't come on when light is switched on 2. CLock Radio to be used for wake up alarm doesn't work, Static is all you hear ! 3. I was pleased. The room was clean and remodeled, maybe a bit dated but I was most impressed with cleanliness. Exterior is being redone. Staff was courteous. Very good location for our travels. The worst hotel experience of my life and I spend 3/4 of my life in a hotel. Will never go there again and they should be ashamed to charge 100 a nite. It was worth 30 tops.

Awful, unfriendly

This hotel was not what I was expecting at all. Unfriendly staff, slow check in and out process and rooms were not sound proof at all. No hot water and when there was hot water it changed randomly to cold. The beds were comfy but i do not recommend it to anyone who wants good efficient service and hospitality.

Check in was fast and easy. Room was good and clean. Not perfect but more then enough. We ate in the hotels restaurant. Was fine for a quick super but service was not good. We went to rexall place for oilers game. Took a cab on the way there $6. Walked the way back 10 or 15 minutes.

Not bad for a one night stay

Clean, quiet motel that is close to majour highways, easy to get to from southern cities like Red Deer and Calgary, and eastern cities like Lloydminster, Battleford and Saskatoon. Has a decent restaurant, and pub, which was relatively quiet at night. Enjoyed help received from the front desk clerk.

I Just needed a clean room, nothing more. The Sands reminds me of a small town hotel. Really nice people and a home cooking restaurant. The only negative was dealing with the fellow that checked us in. Overall I'll continue to stay there when I am in Edmonton.

Shower rod was not securely on wall. No pressure from the shower head, ceiling had stains etc etc. Do not take the elevator, was a pretty old model to say the least.

Room door looked like it was recently kicked in. Had to slam door to make it shut. Toilet runs after each flush .. had to take top off & pull on handle chain to make it stop. Room thermostat was broken. Room felt like it was 100%, had to run window air conditioner at 62 to keep room somewhat reasonable. Was not impressed with this motel.

Sands Hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly. The staff were very helpful when I reserved our room over the phone and our room was ready for us when we arrived. The restaurant had excellent food at very reasonable prices. Defininitely will stay here again.

Everything you need in a place to stay. Clean rooms and welcoming staff. Good vending machines and bags for your buckets. Quality sheets on the bed. Good bar and buffet!!Close distance to rexall, that's why we stayed and we were able to save on cab fare because we walked. We'll be back =)

Inexpensive, nice beds, includes full breakfast

We had not planned on staying here, but our previous booking didn't work out and they sent us here. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable beds, the fridge in the room, and the full brreakfast the next day, all included in our price of <$90 per night.
