We stayed here for 6 days, excellent value. Good kitchen and bathroom. Sofabed ok although it was in the lounge. Bedroom v comfortable. We were on 21st floor and had amazing views - both in the dyatime and at night. The Davie area has plenty going on - 24 hr shops, good restauarnts. Also handy to walk to false Creek... more
Each day we needed to request a 3rd towel set a there were 3 people in or room. The response from the front desk clerk on May 2nd at 5pm was a "yep" followed by him immediately hanging up. How rude.
The room was quite clean although I think the previous guest had a lot of long hair, as I...

Rather small suites with a tiny bathroom, very loud a/c/heating unit in bedroom, uncomfortable beds, no desk to work at (nor space for such) and really inconsistent internet connection. Davie Street can also be quite loud and rowdy. Best thing about this place are the all natural toiletries, a nice surprise given the quality of everything else in this hotel.
Arrived after long fkight from Hong Kong and was pleasantly surprised. Small but neat self contained unit type accomodation. All facilities available-- very clean and wonderful comfy bed.
Does not seem to be any mini safes for passports and valuables etc.
The greatest thing about this accomodation is its location. Pretty much everything you would need is in walking distance,...

& on top of that...the view!!! we stayed on the 20th floor city side so it wasn't too noisy. & the view was amazing! the sofa bed was a loveseat so a little small & the washer/dryer combo took forever & the clothes came out wrinkly. but...it was like our little home for 7 nights. thank you sandman for a... more
I stayed at this property for several weeks over the past month.
Rooms are tiny but well appointed. The room I was in was a 1-Bedroom suite, which had nearly all amenities needed. Simple things, like pitchers for water, laundry soap, dishsoap aren't provided (though they do provide dishwasher detergent).
The Laundry machine is a struggle - the machine both...

Just had a three night stay at Sandman suites.... although it was a bit noisy (I was there over St. Patty's weekend), the hotel was great. Room was very spacious and front desk staff were very helpful. I was given a complimentary upgrade with a wonderful view of the sea and mountains... Location was great. Easily walkable to many nearby... more
This was our fourth or fifth stay at the Sandman Suites on Davie and we had a very enjoyable time again. The rooms are relatively small, especially the bathroom, but the compensation of excellent views and really helpful staff make up for that, and more. The rooms have well-equipped kitchens, and also a machine machine / dryer which makes our... more
The suite was unexpectedly large and well-equipped -- a kitchen with full-size fridge, stove, microwave, a washer/dryer unit, and a 4-seat dining table. Closets everywhere, and a nice spacious bedroom. However, the bathroom was tiny and awkward, and I have bruises on my legs to prove it. There was a tiny loveseat in the living room. Room decor is nothing... more
This would make our 4th time staying here. We've always loved it in the past. It had been about 3 years since our last visit. Unfortunately it appears things have slipped quite a bit since our last visit and was a bit disappointing. We were on the tail end of a trip and just there for one night so the... more
The staff were very friendly and helpful and offered service without the asking. It is an older hotel obviously, so it would take a considerable amount of money to upgrade the heating and air conditioning, but the rooms have full kitchens with separate sleeping areas. The beds are overdue for an upgrade to something more comfortable, but again, that is another expense. The thing they do have... more
Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.Room surprisingly well appointed for the price. A suite with kitchenette at half the price of nearby hotels! Despite a 4th floor room next to the elevators, we hardly heard a sound and slept great!
Nice room, great location for walking the west end and beaches, rooms clean and comfortable, great views on waterside.
We stayed here for the first time, and will definitely return. We visit Vancouver yearly for the RSVP bike ride from Seattle and usually stay at the Coast Plaza since that is where the ride officially ends. I've had issues in the past with the staff there-long lines checking in, rooms not ready, curt counter attitudes, and so with the rate increase this year I decided to look around. Sandman... more
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was conveniently located. We walked almost everywhere. Our room had a nice kitchen and view.
My wife and I spent four nights at this hotel for our first visit to Vancouver. The hotel was terrific and located quite convenitently. The neighborhood was definately not what we were used to but that was okay. It was very international and clearly catered to people with alternative lifesyles. Something different!!!
Traveled to Vancouver and wanted to stay downtown near everything. It was the hockey playoffs and nearly everything was booked. Found the Sandman Suites on [...]and booked with themThe hotel is in a fairly decent location. Was given a room and found that the room was not quite what I expected. The suite was small and had a loveseat that took up the entire seating area in the living room. ... more
Located in downtown Vancouver, within walking distance to plenty of shopping and entertainment. Rooms offfered a full kithchen, seperate bedroom and balcony with good views. The space is a bit tight and the spare couch bed is too small for more than one person.
Clubs, late night food. Could use a 24 drug store. Comparable to my trips , which are always fun!
Loved the hotel, rooms were great, clean, great for longer stays.
The Sandman is in a great location. The front desk service was friendly and helpful. Parking is extra, and with tax it amounts to about $26 night. The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower didn't drain well, but otherwise the room seemed to be in decent working order. We liked the suite style. Overall, this is a good value for the price.
The room is large, with cooking facilities and washing machine.Good location. Many stores and restaurants nearby.
I was staying at the Sandman hotel for a night, the room was really clean and it had a small kitchen with a separate bedroom. The hotel is in a good location within walking distance to clubs, bars, restaurants or convenience stores. My complaint was it could get noisy sometimes from the outside. Also I have to pay for parking even though I was staying there... more
I enjoyed the hotel in the heart of the [*] district. I stayed in one of the better rooms not sure if I would have liked it as much if not. I usually prefer the Fairmont because I love indoor pools and first class rooms. However, I can imagine staying here again. Oh, the elevators are way freakin to slow!!
our entire experience was very good, check-in, staff contact, helpfulness, etc, etc
[...] The hotel in right in the center of Davie village, is connected to a nice restaurant/lounge, and is near good restaurants and shopping. The room was nice and clean, pretty much set up like a one bedroom apartment. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool, or workout area.
This trip was very enjoyable. The location wasn't noisy and made it very relaxing when I returned back to unwind in my room. Site seeing locations, restaurants, and shopping centers were in a good walking distance. You could even take a cab ride, if you didn't wish to walk 20 minutes to a destination. But I believe the walking was great with the Vancouver weather (even in the drizzling... more

Definitely would recommend to others. Very good value for money and yes our expectations were met. Very good location.
because it was a spacious suite with adequate cooking facilities and also a washing machine. It was also in an interesting area with plenty of restaurants and a couple of good supermarkets. It was within walking distance of English Bay and Stanley Park, with a regular bus service to Downtown Vancouver.
We really like staying in suite hotels - having a kitchenette is important to us. Plus, we had a wonderful view of English Bay. The suites are not fancy but a good value for the price.
Have stayed elsewhere many times and will continue to do so. We got out of this hotel after one night. Really, really small rooms. Noise level from intersection keeps you from sleeping and the air conditioner noise is ridiculous. Even the manager admitted that, in more than one room. Parking entry was downright scarry, have to drive around the dumster divers, not safe for a woman alone. ... more
We stayed for 2 nights before embarking on an Alaska Cruise. The hotel is in an excellent, central location which was convenient for walking and public transit. The neighborhood felt very safe (including late night ) and had numerous dining choices.Staff, both lobby and housekeeping, were attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed this hotel. Good location and friendly staff.
Great location, close to shops, downtown, transport, restaurants. Great value and excellent service. Very impressive
Beware: this hotel charges $100 per day incidental hold on your credit card. Resturant food was good but service was horribly slow. Wireless internet in rooms did not work.
Pool was quite dirty. There were some obnoxious and loud guests at the hotel who were eventually asked to leave, but it made for a long night. The staff however was very polite and professional. Very good service in the restaurant as well. Nice sauna room.
Very nice staff. Great neighborhood: many restaurants, very convenient, near great park and water views, near cinematheque.A lively, diverse, friendly gay neighborhood welcoming to all, gay or not.
Great Full Kitchen, Grocery Stores cloose, but you probably won't need them with all the great restaurants within a short walk. Close to Stanley Park, Robson St, and Granville St.
Great location, a little noisy but since the hotel is in the middle of the city that is to be expected.
The hotel was good for a one night stop over, the only small problem was the sofa bed was too small even for 2 young children, but would cope for one night apart from that the hotel was in a good location and within a 20minute walk of the Gastown area which is a must.
Attended Vancouver Pride Festival and the Sandman Suites location is a perfect/excellent centralized location for attendance, especially if walking to events or sites. The accomodations at the Sandman Suites are nicely appointed but the climate control in hot weather is faulty. Installing AC upgrades in the room as well as double pane window glass for coolness retention and street noise... more
the hotel was ok the location was great.we went to see the fireworks and had a bite to eat.I did not like the fact that i had to pay to park my car.
check in and check out was easy. staff was courteous. place was well maintained and recently had some upgrades with spa etc. stylish. nice outdoor pool completely deserted.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were small. Queen bed barely fit in queen room. Bathroom just barely big enough to open the door. The shower head had almost ZERO pressure. Sound from the city is very loud - very little noise dampening through the walls or windows. Nice location, and it was nice to have in/out parking privileges (for a fee). We didn't need the kitchen,... more
We upgraded to a "city view" room which cost us extra $ and our aspect was out towards Denman Street and Stanley Park (we couldn't see the park at all). We were told that anything above the 9th floor was considered a "city view" room, even if you weren't facing the city. What a rip off !!!! We had a one bedroom suite that was apparently for 4 people, however it only had towels for 2 people. We... more
The location is excellent. It's right in the middle of a hip, alternative, charming neighborhood with lots of cool, little shops and places to eat. There are also nightlife spots (and parents should be advised there are some adult entertainment places right nearby, but they aren't particulary obtrusive--my kids never noticed them, especially since they aren't visible if you enter/exit the hotel... more
Great value for the location. Near the bay, shopping and restaurants. If you like a convenient location then the Sandman is your choice. Staff was very thorough and highly professional.
Great location! I got my room upgraded and price is not too bad. Definitely return.
The big draw for the Sandman Suites is is central location on Davie, in the heart of the gay neighborhood. You can't get a better location. Our first room had two single beds rather than the expected double. The staff was pleasant and changed rooms for us. The second room, as we discovered at 1:30 am on a cold New Year's Day, had malfunctioning heat (like almost none). Again, the staff was... more
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel is perfect to take advantage of the west end. The view was great overlooking English Bay. The kitchen was well equipped. I was very comfortable cooking.
We stayed three nights at the hotel. If you don't mind walking, you can walk all over the city from China town, old town and Stanley Park all about one mile away. We stayed in the Penthouse on the top floor because we wanted the jacuzzi which was nice after walking around town, just remember that the penthouse is a studio room and doesn't have a seperate bedroom. Plenty of food choices and... more
With two televisions, a dishwasher and an ensuite European-style washer/dryer, it was better equiped than my place. There is a sofa-bed so the room is good for families. Excellent staff who immediately responded to a key card problem and had no problems with a one hour check-out delay request. Room was very clean, all well maintained and with great views from the balcony. There even free... more
The Sandman was conveniently located (somewhat like being in NY City). Outside of the hotel is a coffee shop, bakery and fruit and vegetable market with sidewalk stands. You can walk to any desired ethnic food restaurant, as the street is lined with casual dining. The room has a very well kept, fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable bed with living room pull-out couched, which did not... more
The room was horrible, the carpet was absolutely filthy and had numerous burn marks. I did not have a wahser/dryer as stated in amenities. Room is very small, I had to get into the bathtub to be able to close the door to use the tiolet. Area was Ok. I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE!

i would totally recomend it to others, lovely rooms very big, great views, good value for money.
The lobby of the Sandman Suites on Davie is beautiful and makes you think that the rest of the hotel is just as cool. It's not. The rooms are cramped, shabby, run down and dirty. Imagine a 1980's apartment and you'll get the idea. The plumbing barely worked. The old, dirty carpet covered in cigarette burns was matched by the filthy sofa/hide-a-bed in the living area. We asked that the hotel at... more

We arrived after a long tiring journey (plane holdups) so we were hoping all would be well with the hotel. Check in was friendly and quick, good staff on reception made us feel welcome. The location was excellent, very close to all the Vancouver attractions, lots of dining choices, grocery stores nearby.
The Sandman Suites on Davie was an ideal location. Everything you need is within walking distance, if not the bus system and Skytrain are excellent. The room was comfortable, with each room having it's own balcony. I took advantage of the free heated swimming pool, and sauna. The hotel staff were very helpful with directions to all areas of interest.
The hotel was in a good location for walking to restaurants, bars & clubs, shopping. I thought the suites should have either been a little bigger or laid out a little better. It seemed like a decent size hotel room that was retro-fitted with a wall down the middle to turn it into a suite. So the bedroom was very small, you had to crawl across the bed to get to the sliding door, as the... more

Excellent location. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Suite is on the small side. Ok for two persons. A bit cramped if three people are sharing the suite. Parking is expensive.
The staff of the hotel was beyond friendly...they bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was excellent. The front desk staff was very professional and attentive. I happened to be in town when there was a fireworks display and I had a front row seat from my balcony. The room was large and very nice. The bathroom was a little small but that was OK.
