Although this is the first time I've ever stayed at this particular Sandman, I would not have a problem with a "return engagement". While the room was clean and comfortable, I did have a couple of issues with the TV set which, unfortunately, were unable to be resolved prior to my departure. The staff with whom I interacted were quite friendly, professional and competent. I ate three times at... more
I stayed in this hotel for one night when temperature outside was around -15 c however staff's warm welcome made me feel I am there in a nice sunny day.
Was able to check into room early to allow us to get to family function. Staff helpful and room clean. Bed fairly comfortable with hideaway bed. Bathroom lighting could have been brighter. Overall satisfied and would return. Rate for ditsy reasonable.
Hotel was very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable . Definitely would stay there again.
We had a very nice one night stay at the Sandman in Red Deer. The hotel is conveniently located, the room was clean and well-appointed, and the staff were very pleasant. We requested an infant bed and one was quickly made available to us. We will certainly stay here again on our next visit to Red Deer.
We enjoyed the staff, Cleanliness and the security.
it was a good location especially with the restaurant attached which we ate at several times and the food was excellent. Dennys is right there as well. the mall is walking distance. super nice to be able to have our dog with us too.
We had a king suite with a small area that was handy for visiting with family. There was a little noise with renovations going on but it didn't bother us. The room was renovated and the bed was quite comfortable. The swimming pool is small but nice for a little exercise, we liked the hot tub and the outdoor area beside the pool. It was very nice to have the Moxies attached to the hotel, the... more
Booked a king suite and got a double bed. Didn't notice the bed size on check in and returned late to hotel. When I complained the next morning at check out, no refund, no discount for the restaurant, nothing but excuses. Tried to blame the mixup on booking through this website rather than the front desk, even though other family members didn't get the room they ordered either. All beds were... more
Friendly staff and well accommodated on short notice
It was nice, was initially disappointed as the carpet had not be cleaned properly, some crumbs on there, but they took care of it. We mentioned about getting a fridge and they were able to get one for us. The staff were excellent, very helpful and accommadating, it was excellent
Some renovations were being done and the pool was closed for part of the visit. But, the helpfulness of the staff from the front desk to the housekeeping staff made up for the negative aspects.
Used coffee cup inside microwave. Dirts on the carpet, Shower knob is loose. Water stagnant in the basin, Microwave cannot be set for cooking time, no bathroom tissue during check in Overall cleanliness inside the room was bad, White dusts from the construction
We were just passing through Red Deer and thankfully had to stay only one night. The room description online led to believe that there would be a separate bedroom to the suite but everything was in one large room... With a toddler who goes to bed early, we always rent a suite with a separate bedroom. It worked for one night but will not stay there again.
Stayed here for three nights for my daughters wedding. Was very impressed with the service!!!! The front desk gals were amazing and took care of us throughout. We had a large group and 10+ rooms for varying dates. All our group was pleased and the only issues were around renovations which are no big deal.
My room was a suite...

The hotel was easy to find. Close to all amenities. There is a mall within walking distance. Family friendly with a nice pool. Moxies restaurant attached. The room was comfortable, well kept and nicely decorated.Reasonable rates. I would recommend.
Really Nice room. Clean, Comfortable and updated. Rates are good. The hotel is family and pet friendly which was a bonus for us! They charge a little extra if you have a dog but its worth it.
Nice pool area if your up for a swim. Moxies restaurant attached with great staff and great food. Walking distance to the mall,...

Would have been great if there wasn't a mistake in the room I reserved wasn't impressed.
I checked in early, and surprisingly the room was ready, so I was able to store my luggage in the room. The person who checked me in was not friendly though. She did her job and no more, she did not say hello, did not smile, did not ask if there was anything else she could help me with. I specifically requested a non-smoking room, yet when I pulled out the spare blanket it reeked of cigarette... more
Upon arriving from a long drive, my wife and I, toting our miniature daschund came into the lobby hoping to get a room and rest. The lady at the front desk was amazing! First room they gave me was small and dirty, I told the young woman at the front desk and she very happily upgraded me to a beautiful room, I was very impressed with her.
The mattress was like sleeping on a park bench, unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.
Don't think room had been vacuumed prior to or during my stay. Dirty napkin from previous guests left on my table . Bathroom walls not very clean, could have been wiped down. Hallway under renovation, no carpet and patching on walls. Another guests room service tray was in hall when I arrived and it remained there for the 3 days I was there.
This is the second time in 6 months I've stayed at the Sandman. It is getting renovated, and the upgraded room is nice with new carpet, updated bathroom and decor. The hotel has a very pungent perfume/air freshener scent, and the new door on the bathroom was not properly planed/fitted which meant it was difficult to close and open. The... more
We originally booked a standard king room but when we arrived were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded at no charge to one of their newly renovated suites. Had a good night stay at the Sandman. I got one of the suites, which looked like it was newly renovated and it was clean and comfortable. The bed was cozy, and had a good night sleep. I stayed in the hotel again because ten years ago it was an amazing location with great service and amenities.
Things have changed. While the hotel has been renovated inside the rooms, the outside is tired with spalling stucco, stained stucco, and overgrown shrubs and a parking lot that doesn't drain when it rains.
Inside the staff on the whole...

There was no hot water to Shower on our last morning. When I called to the front desk she was going to see what she could do for us. When we checked out 30 minutes later I mentioned it again to only get a "hmmm that's not good" There was no offer to make it right or anything.
Booked this hotel because of location and they had a hot tub, unfortunately hot tub was unavailable due to overuse on the weekend. I would stay here again, very clean and comfortable.
Our sports team had blocked a set of rooms and we were told we would receive a group rate which would be very economical. Upon check in, some received a cheaper rate because they said they had a corporate account. Others called in were told there was a "best weekend rate" which was considerably lower. Those who chose to take... more
I stayed at the Sandman Hotel for 3 nights. I was very happy with my stay there! The location is unbeatable for jumping on/off the highway and there's tons of shopping really close by. I will start at the beginning. I am not inclined to stay at a Sandman Hotel. That stated this is a new Sandman with Moxies built in.We are a family of 4 so we booked a "king size suite". I made 2 phone calls to ensure that there would in fact be a king size bed. My partner is nearly... more
This is the worst place I have stayed at in a long time. I consider this because; our door wouldn't close unless you really pushed on it and locked it (housekeeping didn't even shut our door). My boyfriend and I stayed at a corporate suite for 2 nights. The room's incredible and cleanliness' superb! Bed and mattress' comfortable. This location is convienient as there are other places to go to especially Denny's for breakfast, nearby retail stores, grocery stores, etc.
When I booked this room, I was told that there was no construction going on and that was a lie. When we got into our room the door wasn't closed proper, I had to lean on it very hard to latch it. There was no fan in the bathroom and trust me I at -40c you really don't want to... more
I have stayed there several times paying book rates and have been satisfied although hotel as a whole is tired. This time using third party booking I was not at all satisfied. I stayed there last Friday nite for a conference. They did give me the conference rate, although the advance registration was over. Undergoing renos so a bit of noise & dust, but good facility except for one item - the in room coffee machine had not been cleaned when we checked in; had a used coffee pack in it. Stay-over for 1 night only. Got assigned main floor suite which is convenience. Room is alright, clean and neat but can't believe there are hotel still using blanket with bedspread!!
Overall, it's a good short stay-over hotel.
We were not satisfied at all. We were not given the room (two Double beds) that we booked. We had no hot water for a day. The rooms were not well taken care of. We are entitled to a reimbursement and the manager has asked that you contact them as he is in agreement.
The rooms were clean, hotel was in the middle or renovations so appearance was not very good. Was put into a downgraded room upon arrival. pool and hot-tub were out of service. menus on the tvs didn't work. NO HOT WATER FOR THE 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS WE WERE THERE! Both bedside lamps were unplugged, switch was on the cord, not the lamp. Other side lamp... more
I wanted to stay near the Sheraton / Capri for a conference. The Sandman was very close and had rooms available. The only negative was the renovation that is currently underway. The Moxie's restaurant is attached. Also a nice bar with very accommodating staff (their service was first rate).
The floor I was on was under renovation and the workers smoked so the hallways smelled of smoke, but the room was clean and comfortable.
Hotel was pretty good. When we arrived our first room had a soaking wet carpet and our second was "an upgrade" but didn't fit the four people in our group well- a twin pullout couch (super hard to pull out!) And a kingsize bed. It was cold which only one person in our group liked and the heater did NOT work even if the housekeeper lady said it did. The pool was nice but did have a loud echo so... more
The checkin process was very slow but once I got to the counter the staff were friendly and attentive. The air vents were pulled out of the wall in the hallway as it was clearly under construction. I stepped in a VERY wet spot near the... more

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in Red Deer. Garbage hadn't been cleaned out of the room and the toilet hadn't been cleaned which is unacceptable. The front desk service was okay. Elevators weren't working. Not a good experience. Spent $15 more for a room at the Sheraton a couple weeks ago and it was worth every cent!
We stayed 2 nights. I guess we did n not leave the room the first day early enough - as we got no housekeeping whatsoever. We were short on towels - they could provide more, actually. But, no coffee or towels or bed made for the second night.
The Hotel was good, but we were just surprised that a single room in a nice hotel like Sandman was just barely large enough for 1 queen bed. It was however, clean and nicely finished.
Understaffed at check-in...manger only person working the front desk.....slow, slow, slow.......AND could not find my reservation from Hotel's com. he offered to check me in ( and charge me again) until my reservation was sorted out. Did not offer to call Hotels.com ...i had to do it myself... Hotels.com sorted it out right away
Spent 2 nights there. When we checked in, there were buckets and towels on the floor in the lobby. Obviously there was some kind of leak. Renovations were being done in several rooms. my friend and I come to red deer for a golf get away, we found your rates to be ok you had smoking rooms and you where close to the red deer legion. we where comfortable in the room.
Very upsetting The bed had not been changed from previous people the room had not been cleaned. Management was very nice to us, gave us a meal, a free nite and apologized. We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is currently being renovated which is not that big of an inconvenience but the afternoon we arrived was the day the hot water heaters were being replaced. The hotel was under renovations and there were kids running up and down the halls. We also could smell smoke from the other floors. The only really good thing was the staff. My husband and I stayed at this hotel while in Red Deer for a wedding. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is obviously an old structure and I realize they are now renovating parts of it. This was our second time we stayed at the SI - both times disappointed. I was expecting better. There was no hot water in the morning and the rooms were just okay. It was very awkward to get into the hotel parking lot. The staff was very friendly though. I felt I could have paid less money and still gotten the same experience!
I stayed here one night, which was not booked by myself. It was close to where I was working and likely had a reasonable rate - which is why my company likely recommended it. The rooms are dark and the bathroom is even darker. Difficult for women to put on their makeup and I'm not that old!

A little pit old furniture, but for the price I have no complains. Very good service and friendly staff. Including Moxie Restaurant. Small skimpy towels.. That’s why I always bring my own personnel towel.
This used to be one of our favorite places to stay in Red Deer, but the hotel is now dated and in need of updating as its getting to be grimy. It feels cheap now in the details. our room was clean (vacuumed) but had stains on the wall paper in the bathroom, a window without a screen that didn't close all the way, the pool area is small and noisy. Front end staff are nice. Attached to a Moxie's which is nice. Just down the street from the mall
Sandman hotel had it's highs and its lows. My room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. I stayed at this hotel about three years ago when in town on business; either my tastes have changed or my memory fails me as I recalled it being a fairly nice property. The only nice thing I can say about this property is it has a Moxie's in it. The hotel is a tired dump. I felt unclean when I stayed there, which was (thankfully) just one night. Booked and stayed in a King Jr Corp Suite. The room was clean. Not overly spacious and rather average. However, oddly, there was no luggage rack in the room. I guess they expect you to use the coffee table? Front desk was efficient. Suitable for a night's stay. Recommended for clean quiet rooms but nothing outstanding about the property.
Rooms, staff and amenities are all ok. Pool area is really small and needing to be redone completely. Location fit my needs and it's nice to have a Moxie's restaurant attached for meals. About as average a hotel as you can imagine and a little overpriced.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our way to Calgary.
